[Benjamin Solak] Mahomes is having one of the best seasons on extended dropbacks we’ve seen in quite some time

Extended drop-backs are killing our drives with holding penalties and sacks.
I think this stat is misleading.
Nice. He did well on the 2 times he had 4 clean seconds
I find it really interesting that Mahomes seems to be getting a lot of outside flack for this season when pretty much every stat/analysis has him in the top 5. Even PFF, which tends to be harsh on him, has him as the 11th best QB in spite of two really bad games. EPA/QBR/most advanced stats love him as well.
Even for his weak points- the deep ball success has been back to average (better than last year) and he’s taken fewer sacks per pressure.
Considering the support (missing either his LT or WR1 in all but 2 games this season) I’d say he’s been top 3 in the league. You can harp on the mistakes but there’s only one QB in the league who has played at his level with less mistakes this year (Stafford). And even then- Stafford is coming off a 3 TO game.
Is he getting 4 seconds because its a clean pocket, or is it because mahomes is dancing around and avoiding sacks left and right? From the eye test it looks like hes racing through his reads and then spending a few seconds trying to avoid a sack.
Mahomes is like the last place people should be looking for issues with the team. He’s at/near the top of every metric having largely played excellent ball this year, and will end up with one of his better seasons statistically. There are verifiable problems elsewhere in the offense, the defense is in the bottom 3rd in every meaningful metric, and the special teams are average at best.
He had a couple bad games, and bad quarters, but he has played out of his mind this year. Too bad most of the rest of the team is loafing through the season.

Says a lot about the play calling.
