So if you want to be right in the middle of the action this season, visit fanuel.com and place your NFL live bets all season long. The Dallas Stars are an absolute wagon. They played at a championship level during the month of November and that’s with a ton of injuries, but Jason Robertson was one of the hottest scorers on the planet. Wyatt Johnson and the power play is on fire. So, let’s recap the month of November on today’s show. Also, I want to discuss this burning question. Does Jason Robertson catch Mike Madano for the most goals in franchise history? Let me know in the comments below. I’m intrigued to hear everybody’s answers. Also, Mirror Hastinan has played 500 games. Let’s just talk about Miro’s career a bit and really just pump his tires some more because why not? He’s one of the best defenseman in the entire planet and I hope he wins the Norris Trophy this season. But let’s get in to this nearly flawless month of November for the Dallas Stars. In their past 12 games, the Stars are 10-1 and one, outscoring teams 51 to 24 in the process. In the month of November, the Stars went 112 and two, and that is amongst the best in the NHL. 11 wins in the month of November. That was tied with Colorado, Tampa Bay, and Minnesota. Three central teams, three central teams won 11 games in the month of November. 24 points for the Stars and ABS. They also are averaging 4.13 goals per game, and that is second most during that stretch. Second most goals per game. They’re allowing 2.47, for seven, which is seventh. So, they’re scoring a ton. They’re also shutting down opponents, whether that be with team defense or goalending. One of the things I really loved about the Stars most recent road trip, the four game road trip in Western Canada that ended in Seattle, was the Stars won a variety of different games. Some were goalending, some were offense, some were power play and special teams, a little bit of everything. Sometimes it’s just locking down an opponent, closing out games, winning and a shootout, winning in overtime, coming from behind, leading, right? Stars were doing a little bit of everything in the month of November. They really found a groove defensively. And that’s without a Thomas Harley. That was without labouchkin for most of the month. That is without Neil Swanquist. Bishel and Petravic deserve a lot of credit for what they have been able to do. Very effective. Kyle Capoenko, they deserve some love. Vladislav, Kio Chonach, uh those are the type of of of players uh and depth pieces that have stepped up for Dallas in this month of November. But you you can’t talk about it without the really just pure star power of of Robertson, Ranton, and and and Johnston. It’s a three-headed monster. Robertson 26 points in 15 games that was tied for the the league uh league in November with Nathan McKinnon who who played two less games. So Robertson’s right up there and Mo Ranton and Johnston are right behind him. Mo had 21 points. Johnson had 10 goals and 10 assists in 15 games in the month of November. Ranton and Johnston Robertson all top 10 in scoring during the month. Of course, Johnston is carrying the the league and power play goals. He had nine in the month. He had nine. And I I don’t want to call Wyatt Johnson a power play merchant because he does so many other things. you you can’t you can’t knock on him for having a guy like Miko Ranson that just continues to find him in the middle of the slot. Uh and and hence um in Sean they just keep finding him. He’s in the right spot and it’s not his fault he he keeps finding the the back of the net. We know he can score five on five. The majority of his scoring in the NHL up to this point has really come at even strength. He he never had a ton of of of power play time in his first couple years. Stars had a lot of weapons. Now he he’s getting a large large chunk of it and boy is he making the most of it just like his uh former uh I guess billet father in in Joe Pavvelski right uh they are just uh humming on all cylinders they also have the the best power play in the league over that stretch they went 35% in the month of November 35% one of my bold takes coming into the season was the stars were going to have the best power play in the league. Well, 35% there. They were 85% on the kill, which is above their season average. That was 11th uh in the NHL, which is better. They’re getting better in that department, which is important. They got off to a really, really slow start. The stars now in the league, they are are 32% on the power play. So, they’re they’re number one uh in the NHL. So, my bull prediction is looking okay. They’re 79% on the kill, which is 21st overall right now in the NHL. So, they’re improving. They were at 27th at one point. So, they’re slowly improving. Um, and it seems like with each passing game, they’re they’re starting to sh up that side uh of special teams, but outscoring their opponents 51-24 over the last dozen games. They now have scored 91 goals this season um allowing 69. Their goal differential has been flipped on its head. I’m curious how many goals they scored in the month uh of November as well. Nearly flawless. Uh they ended up scoring 62 goals. That was the most in the NHL. They allowed 37 which uh was about eighth least. Um but this is with of course not a full complement of players. It’s not like Otter and and Des Smith were totally lights out. They had games where they were spectacular. Um, but you look at the uh uh the goalending numbers in the month. It’s not like Des Smith and uh and and ander were doing something otherworldly. Uh they were just solid. They were average to above average. And I’ll say it again for those of you that are not everyday. If the Stros get above average goalending, they’re going to win way more games than they lose. Andre had six wins in the month. Uh that was uh tied for for third most. Had an 885 save percentage, 3.01 goals against. See, it’s not like they were completely uh lights out. Uh Casey De Smith, he had a 935 save percentage. That was near the the best in the league um in November. Uh 1.66 six six goals against. He He was phenomenal. He was really good last night. Didn’t have to to work very hard yesterday, which was good. Uh and he needs some of those starts because it feels like when he does jump into the lineup, uh the Stars ask him to do way more than uh than he needs to. So, if Otter can find some form, the Stars are going to be a an absolute problem. And for the most part, they’re already a a problem. I was thinking about this too. The Stars just seem like a team that is awful to play against. I think that’s where the Stars are starting to get. They’re just not a team you want to play. Of course, they can score. They can have great goalending here and there, but they they are hungry. They play a hard no style uh of of hockey, at least more than we saw over the last couple seasons. They’re starting to play with that edge. There’s a bit of that relentlessness in in their game. And yeah, on top of that, they have some of the best players in the world when they have the puck on their stick. They’ve added a little bit of that tenacity that maybe gets lost in all of it. uh because they’re they’re a bit flashy at sometimes. They got some they got some pretty pretty goals, power plays humming along, but they also play with an urgency. They’re never out of games. They now are close to top of the league in hits. They’re grinding. They’re trying to wear you down. I believe they’re just a a to play against, right? I I think that’s what they are. I think they’re really tough to play against and that’s a a giant compliment when you think about the Florida’s out there. You don’t want to play those teams. They’ll just wear you down. Think about maybe even a Colorado right now. You don’t want to play those type of teams. I think the Stars are becoming a part of that conversation. And maybe that is going to be their identity. No one’s going to want to to play them because they can play hard, they can play tough, and they they have firepower that can light you up in a hurry. Speaking of firepower, Jason Robertson, what a month for him, right? Uh he was incredible. Does Mike Madano get caught by Jason Robertson? Can Robo catch Mo career goals in franchise history? Let me know. I’m curious. We’ll do that in just a moment. Today’s episode of Lockdown Stars is brought to you by Drip Drop. When you’re hydrated, everything just works better. I thought about this when Victory Plus threw up the the graphic last night that Jason Robertson has the second most amount of goals in franchise history through his first 400 games. Congrats to Robo playing in career uh game number 400 the uh the other night. 184 goals for Robertson. He only trails uh Dino Cicerelli who had 221 in his first 400 games. But it got me thinking, can Jason Robertson catch Mike Madano for the most goals in franchise history? Mike had 557. He had 561 career goals. And if you you go through the math a bit, Madano had 0.37 goals per game in his 1499 games. Robo threw 400. So 184 divided by 400. I think I did the math correctly. You may have to correct me in uh in the comment section, but 184 divided by 400.46. So he has a a a smidge higher goal per game average than than Mo did. Um and of course also Robo’s going to have to play a lengthy amount of games. Needs to have a lengthy career to to catch Mo. But at this point in time, if I had to just answer the question, gut feeling, I think he does catch him. I I I think Robertson will catch Mike and be the the the franchise’s best all-time score. I I I think Robo is going to be in that stratosphere. Now, there’s a couple caveats to this. The Stars need to resign him. Number one, he he needs to stay in Dallas for for quite a while. It’s a very possibility. It’s a very real possibility that that maybe he goes somewhere else. I I hope that’s not the case because I would like to to see sort of the chase of Robertson. That that’s a big one. Also, he’s got to stay healthy, of course. But I think Robertson is going to age gracefully as a player. Maybe I’m wrong on this, but I I think His style is something that will benefit him as he gets older, maybe loses his step. Sort of like Joe Pavvelski in some ways. Like Joe’s strength was never his speed or skating ability. He he was a bit smaller, too. Had to find uh other ways to to be productive and effective. And I think Robertson is is sort of going to be that way. Like look at Ovetkin. It’s not like he was the symbol of of conditioning um and and health throughout throughout his career. Um and he and he’s still just plotting along perforating miners night in and night out. I think Robertson can have a similar sort of path like like OV his shot is his weapon. Sort of like basketball players. If you can shoot, you can stay in the league for a long time. you can just sit in the corner and and catch threes and and hit and hit trees for uh 30 years, right? 20 seasons. You can just play into your late 30s, 39, even in your early 40s if you can spot up and shoot. That’s that’s that’s never going to go to way. That can always be uh a part of of your DNA and and benefit your team. I think Robertson’s going to be in in in that sort of area too w as as he gets gets older. So my gut feeling is he he is he will if he gets to play here in Dallas for another 8 to 10 years. I think he catches Mike. He’s just I mean it feels inevitable right now. Scored the other night. It just feels like he cannot be denied and we all know the talent the stars are going to have around him. Um it’s not like he just needs talent to to be effective. Like sometimes he is the offense. He is the guy uh driving the goal scoring. Um and I I think he has a a great shot at doing I I think he does. He’ll be top 10 in in no time after next season. He’s he’s going to be top 10. um if he’s if he’s still around, he’ll be top 10 in and in in franchise history and just continue to to knock names uh down the list. But that just they got me thinking last night when I I saw the the graphic pop up on victory plus uh second most goals in in first 400 games with Dallas in franchise history. he’s he’s already on a on a really really good pace uh to to take down uh the man that has a statue uh out front. I believe a couple years ago when Robertson put up a 100 points, I was on the fan at the time and I think I was asked if Robo would go down as the uh the best player in franchise history and I I’m pretty sure I said yes to to that question because the Stars were primed for another run. Um, I I believe still that the Stars are going to win a Stanley Cup at some point with with the core they have. It feels like they have to. So, if if if he gets one, maybe two, and he starts knocking down some of these franchise records, uh, I I don’t see how he’s he’s not at least in the conversation. Mo, of course, will always be that guy for a lot of people, but Robertson for a younger generation is going to be that guy uh for for generations younger than me, right? Um Robertson is is going to be the guy uh for for a lot of young Stars fans. So, uh I think he he’ll certainly be in that mix. Um if if if he wins too, you have to win. Um to to be considered that, at least in my opinion. Uh Mo got one, you’re going to have to get one, too, if you’re going to want a statue uh out in front of the the new Willow Ben ball uh arena or whatever it is. I say that tongue and cheek. But uh yeah, um I I I think he does got reaction. He does catch them all. I’m curious if uh any Stars fans thought the same thing when they they they they saw that uh graphic pop up. Let me know um if you had to answer right now who who does does Robo catch uh does Robo catch Mike? Uh I think it’s a great debate and uh it will be really fascinating to see how the uh career of Robo of course takes shape and man the stars just need to pay him now. Get it done now. I’m I’m expecting I’m expecting the early Christmas present for the Stars fans out there to be Jason Robertson extension. Let’s just put an exact date on it. December 21st. Uh what day is that? Let’s see. It’s got to be a good day. December Sunday. Probably not Sunday. Uh let’s do December December 19th. Why not? December 19th. Robo signs an extension. That’s going to be an early Christmas present to all Stars fans out there. Robo stays. He’s going to be able to catch Mo. Um and uh that would be that would be awesome. Mark this. Mark this right now. If the Stars get an extension done, hopefully I’m right at the exact time. Um and if I am, boy, I’m a genius. If I’m not, I’m just early. I’m not wrong. Just a bit early. All righty. Mero has played 500 games. He caught a milestone. Let’s relive Mero a bit. That first career shift because I saw it hovering around Twitter the other day. That first career shift was spectacular and really was a sign of just things to come for the stars young superstar in defense. Let’s do that in just a moment. So, if you want to be right in the middle of the action this season, visit FanDuel.com, place your NFL live bets all season long. FanDuel, the game moves fast. So, can you hasten now played 500 career games in the NHL? boy has the uh the time flew by with uh with with number four on defense. I I I honestly could not believe he’s played 500 games. It feels like he’s maybe played less just since he’s so young, but maybe also he’s he’s played more. And uh what a what a little career he’s he’s he’s put together. And I saw his his first shift circulating Twitter the uh the other day and you you watched the the 4550 second clip and everything he showed at at what was 18 19 years old at that point. Everything he showed in the first 50 seconds was exactly what you get on a nightly basis from from him at that age in that moment. It was never too big. And it was just so symbolic. If if you if you want to watch who Miro H if somebody asks you what does Miro play like you show them that shift that is him encapsulated perfectly. goes back, retreats, grabs a puck, makes a couple shifty moves, hits a man on the outlet pass. Puck comes back the other way, angles a guy off, uses his body, doesn’t throw a huge check, just angles him off, takes the puck, moves it on, right? Also gets a shot on goal, joins the rush. He’s he’s feeding guys, facilitating. It’s just it it it’s it’s beautiful. It’s what makes the uh the game so great and he he made it look so easy and we’re we’re spoiled to get to watch that every single night. He’s been great this year. He’s got 22 points this season in 26 games. He’s uh he’s racking up those power play points um again, which is uh a great sign. He he’s having an unbelievable campaign. I I think he’ll be a finalist this year just because the points are going to be there. Man, I hope he wins it. It’s going to be tough for him to get the Norris. He deserves it. He he he plays too too good both ways, both directions to not be recognized at some point in his career. Of course, you have the hurdle of Hughes and and Mar who are are I think going to be considered generational talents. Um but but Miro um is is is also I think part of that conversation. Maybe he’s not generational. uh you don’t want to throw that word around too lightly like Mar’s up there. Maybe not Hughes, but Miro and Hughes I feel like are at that same level just sort of in maybe just a tier below. Um and it’ll be a shame if he does not get one. Uh fortunately, I think he’ll be a finalist for the first time since the stars are humming. He’s having a good season and uh just what a what a couple of a seasons he’s put together in Dallas. He’s going to be here for a while. Also, I’ve always said this about him, his game just elevates to another level in the postseason. He he just takes it up a notch. He he came back from a season ending knee injury uh really uh last season and and and and looked fine. Had four points in eight games, but his playoff numbers are great. 65 points in 93 games. Uh that’s really above his like regular season average. like that’s what makes you a star. That’s what gets you paid for what you can do in those moments. And we know the amount of minutes he plays. I mean, uh that 23 24 season, he played 28 minutes a night. And the year before that, he played 27 minutes a night. Uh he he was he was basically pacing the league at that point. In the playoffs, he’s playing a ton. Now he’s playing in all situations, which certainly helps. Uh he’s on the PK a lot more. Uh he he’s he’s had a chance to to take the number one spot on the power play as as a power play quarterback and he’s taken the most of it. You know, before the season I was I was saying I I wanted Hardley on there after what we saw last season, but they went with Me and the power play you I mean speaks for itself. Um Harley doesn’t hurt that of course. Um it’s a nice luxury to have Harley as your power play quarterback number two when you know he can reach the heights uh of a number one. He um he is just everything and then some uh and I I think also probably probably will go down as the best defenseman all time all things considered. Who knows if if he gets the point numbers. Uh, you know, Zubov was special special. Uh, but I I think Mero will uh certainly maybe flirt with uh with that at u at some point. He’s um just a heck of a lot of fun to watch. Of course, man, I remember when the Stars drafted him uh another Finn and you knew he was going to be a special special talent at third overall. stars got a a tad lucky. Um they they were able to uh acquire that uh acquire that pick. Um but hey, that’s uh that’s how it goes sometimes. Uh he’d rather be lucky uh than good. And uh he’s he’s just been um a a lot a lot of fun to watch. just his ability to use his stick to knock pucks away uh to also protect away from defenders. He’s one of the best at just not getting drilled either. Every time he goes back uh on an opponent for check, he’s able to just move the puck off and he just able to slide out of the way um to to not get hit. I I think that’s also uh an a necessary part of uh of of your game, especially with someone as talented as him. Like teams are trying to hammer him. Um and if he can uh if if he can take the less amount of licks throughout the throughout the season, the better. Um and now looking at Miro, so Dallas Stars franchise history, he has he’s about to hit his uh sorry, no, he’s already above 300 points. Sorry. Um I thought yeah so he’s got 305 career points in 501 games. So he’s he’s on a good pace and he’s going to play the next seven eight years. Uh we already know that under contract in Dallas if all things go well. Um now that I say it I think he’s going to easily catch catch Zubie. Um Cleanberg’s at 374. Me’s gonna I think easily do that probably three seasons worth. Uh actually not even probably maybe just one more season next year. Um he’s not going to reach Klingberg maybe as fast as Klingberg reached 374. Clingberg did in 552 games. Mirror’s at 501. So he he he’s he’s going to get close to him by the end of the season. He he probably is going to pass Sedor, I would think. Uh Sador’s at 334. You know, Zubov at 549. Amiro’s at 305. Uh you know, Miro looks like he’s going to play a thousand games. You would think all things go well, knock on wood, with Dallas in his career, uh he he’s he’s going to reach him um in points and we’re going to sit here and be like, “Yeah, he’s he’s he’s he’s the best um in franchise history.” Um the fun thing about the the the more fun thing about it is he’s he’s he’s 26 years old. He’s like he’s like in he’s like kind of like just started his prime in some ways. Feel like your prime is like 25ish. He’s just started his prime. That that’s that’s that’s jittery. That gets you that gets you a little excited thinking about what what he um what kind of numbers he’s he’s going to put up in his career. Um and he probably doesn’t get enough love nationally, but that’s okay. We love him here on Locked on Stars. We love him in the Stars community. And um yeah, it’s it’s it’s nice to uh I guess put some things into perspective. you look at Robo and Ber just some of their numbers kind of stacked up against some others. Yeah, they um are awesome. We’re like we’re really spoiled to watch some of the best talent I mean in the world on a on a nightly basis and um before you know it when I’m 35 40 years old uh the these guys are are going to be considered some of the best um um in Stars history uh statistically and just maybe eyeball test too, right? So, um, that’s awesome. Uh, it’s nice to nice to you got to look back every once in a while. Got to do some recaps. Uh, visualize, right? Look inward, as they say. I try to do that every once in a while, but not too much. All righty, Stars fans. That’s going to do it for this first December episode of the season. Yes, December is here. It’s going to be a great month. Thank you for being a part of Locked On Stars. Locked on Podcast Network now the number one sports podcast network. Stars back in action um tomorrow going New York and New Jersey. Little backtoback on Tuesday and Wednesday. We’ll be back tomorrow. Talk a bit about that. And um and yeah uh have a great day, Stars fans. See you tomorrow. So long.

  1. Everything would have to go right for Robertson to catch Mike. He'd have to stay healthy, and the team would have to pull a Boston and do a quick reload after this four year period of dominance. We'd have to avoid a major rebuild and he'd have to avoid injury. But, scoring is easier. Mo did his work in the dead puck era on a team that was happy to try to win games with 2 or 3 goals (sometimes less). A lot of people think Modano could have had more except he bought into a defense first trap system that sacrificed scoring for the sake of locking down games. I think Robo, not being a big body actually helps him. He's not going to grind into the corners and sacrifice the body to get his offense.

  2. It was a fun month of rooting for these stars. I have a feeling I'll be buying one of those 99 throwbacks soon. I won't be able to resist much longer. 😂

  3. Seems like we’ve got things figured out. Even with all the injuries. Thank goodness. Somehow we’re ok? lol. Better than I expected that’s for sure. Great month. No more injuries please. Please! Hated seeing Bichsel go down like he did. We didn’t need that for sure. Let’s keep the train rolling. Love the alternates! Can’t wait to get one. Sexy threads for sure. Go Stars!

  4. Not sure if Robo catches Mo. Not sure I want him to. I like Robo but Mo has always been my favorite player. Robertson has said himself he’s not even aware of who Modano was. So no I don’t want him to catch him. I love Mo too much. Maybe Robertson catches eventually. Idk. Maybe he will be that guy? If he gets signed? I hope he does but I love Mo. I love Robo too, but idk how I’d feel about it? If he stays on this trajectory then he might for sure. Love Mo, love Robo, Mo will always be my guy. Best of luck to Robo though. We will see

  5. If the Moose plays out his career here no telling how many scoring records will fall. If Luds thinks Mikko is the best player to wear a Stars uni seeing all of the HOFers he played with that meann s something. I am old enough to have watched Gretzky play, I think Mikko is as good a passer as he was.

  6. I doubt Robo will catch the might Mo. If Robertson maintains his current average it will take him another 11 years to catch Mo's total. I wouldn't be surprised if Robo passes 557 goals, the big question is if he'll still be in Dallas when he does.

  7. That is a huge ask of Robo and in the end what difference does it make Mike made this franchise from Minnesota to Dallas….Only thing worth discussing is WHY isnt Hatcher's #2 swinging from the rafters of the AAC
