I always used to think that it was amazing that the Giants had the same ownership for their entire history. Tim Mara paid $500 to start the Giants in 1925 and they became one of the most successful and valuable franchises in the NFL.
However, it’s clear that John Mara is in above his head and doesn’t have what it takes to lead this team. The last decade plus proves it. In fact, the ineptitude of the Mara family goes beyond that, dating back to when the league had to pressure the family to hire George Young in 1979, leading to a period of sustained success.
You can’t run an NFL team as a family business. Mara refuses to weed out the nepo hires in the front office and personnel departments and take a step back. If he really cares about the future success of the team his family founded, he would sell the team, take his billions, and ride off into the sunset.
Sell the team, John. If you love the Giants, it’s time to sell the team.

I don’t care who owns the team, just bring in an executive from the outside to manage all football operations
Too many Mara’s on the payroll for him to sell
Fun fact: half our SB wins are under the ownership of John Mara.
He has enough money to do anything he wants in the world and he chooses to spend his time running a bad football team.
If it were me I would have sold a long time ago.
Never going to happen. Just pray they make the right hires this time 🙏
Sell the team to Eli and Peyton
It’s the family business. They are not selling the team. If you are looking to share your fantasies there are other subreddits for that.
Honestly Tisch should sell his share along with Mara.
Monkey paw:
The Koch family now owns it.
Hi — famous Redditor John Mara here. I wasn’t sure what to do but after seeing this post, I’m convinced.
Gonna put the NY Football Giants up on eBay ASAP
Giants History Under the Mara’s:
8 Championships in 101 years. 4 of those championships came when there were only 12 teams in the NFL.
They were so dysfunctional in the 60’s and 70’s that THE NFL forced them to hire George Young as their GM (he worked for the NFL).
George Young won them 2 Super Bowls. The Mara family had little to do with it.
Chris Mara became VP of Player Personnel after the Giants won THE SB back in early 2012. He is the GM’s boss and responsible for EVERYTHING that had to do with getting the roster built.
Joe Schoen is still around because he rebuilt the entire Player Personnel department and Chris Mara has no idea how to turn on the Crestron projectors, no less how analytics work.
They are useless.
My working theory is that John steps down this off-season. Chris gets promoted because failing upwards is a Mara trait. Joe takes over Chris’ old job. This allows them to hire a coach/GM like Bill, or they could add a GM depending on the timing.
I am tickled that a fan would think that a billionaire would give a half second’s consideration to their input.
These people think the plebs are fortunate to have their guidance, not the other way around. The Giants are the Mara family business. They so genuinely could not care less about what anyone outside their gene pool or tax bracket thinks about the future of the team.
Will never happen, but agree with this take. Of all the changes over the last decade of ineptitude, the one variable that has not changed is the ownership. Mara has said many times that he “takes responsibility” for where the team is at, but how exactly has he done that other than answering a few tough questions whenever we have to fire a coach?
Lol enough with the “sell the team” posts. There is literally no incentive to selling as these teams generate stupid amounts of revenue whether they win or not
Nah cause then the Koch family would probably buy out the rest of the team which would be 100000000x worse than the Maras.
He’s absolutely useless we deserve an owner that cares about the team
Keep dreaming, we’ll get ass football for another few decades and we’ll keep suffering through it.
Why would anyone sell something that generates over $700M annually for sitting on your ass regardless if you suck at winning?
Where do people get the idea that the Giants are “one of the most successful franchises in the NFL”? It’s simply not true. We are the NY football team so we have notoriety based on that alone but historically, we have been a mostly terrible franchise in the entire Super Bowl era.
The Parcells era is the only time the Giants have been truly great. The Giants were good in the Coughlin era but massively underachieved almost every season relative to the roster and expectations. The two Super Bowl runs are actual miracles. In the entire Super Bowl era, the Giants have been to the playoffs 3 years in a row only TWO TIMES. They have made the playoffs 4 years in a row ONE TIME. That’s insane to me. Even the Jags have done this and they didn’t exist until 1995 and are mostly a laughing stock of a franchise. We are the same but for a longer period.

Who is the miracle buyer of this team who will take us all to the promised land? Private equity? The Mara’s, along with the Rooneys, are football royalty. Too much history involved just to please you peasants.
What sucks is he’s more likely to just give the team over to his dipshit nepo hire brother and nephew before he sells
Winning is not essential to teams in American sports leagues.
If the Giants had to operate under something like the English Football League system they’d be demoted to 5th tier by now facing relegation to the semi-pro beer leagues and worth nothing. And other teams would be given the chance to perform at the top tier.
Instead the Maras continue as sports oligarchs with a $10 billion franchise and America has for some reason embraced a system that allows it.
These posts are becoming an opportunity for self-flagellation over the team’s performance. We all get it, but they are not selling this team. Ever.
Honestly I don’t care if he’s still the owner, just get rid of Chris Mara and I’d be happy
