Winning is only part of the enjoyment. People weren’t upset that we lost to the Bills, the Bills are a good team. People are upset because we didn’t even TRY! A team that has forced as many turnovers as we have this season should NEVER be 6-6. Aaron Rodgers was still clearly injured, the highest paid defense in the league allowed Cook to cook them, the only turnover we took advantage of was on THEIR SIDE OF THE FIELD. Yeah, we lost, but with the way we played we certainly didn’t deserve to win.

You can have a high flying explosive offense where any play could be exciting, but if that doesn’t produce winning results, it’s pointless (see: arguments against Tomlin citing him “wasting” the Killer B’s).
You can have strong defenses that hold opponents to minimal points, rack up sacks and turnovers, and lay the wood on big hits. But if that doesn’t produce results, it’s pointless (see: top 10 defenses in points allowed, league sack leaders, etc, but shit tier offenses that can’t follow through).
Win, and fans are happy and entertained. Simple as.

Defensively it’s about the coaching. Austin needs to go. Aside from 2014 in Detroit he has been mid at best. This is a guy who was fired after 10 games in Cincinnati of all places. You gotta be bad to get fired as D coordinators in Cincy. Watt and Highsmith all they do is rush the passer – every single – play.
Offensively, we have very little talent. O line play is poor, 1 WR and some guys who run around looking like a WR. ‘Muth has all but disappeared this year. Methuselah for a QB. Bill Walsh couldn’t get a better result from these guys.

It’s coming apart. No matter what we were looking at a lot of rebuilding into next season, he’s not trying to go through a rebuild.
He’s the guy that see’s the project he’s on is currently on fire, but he’s a month away from retirement. Sure he’ll still give it a go but in the back of his mind he’s like “welp if it goes to shit it aint my problem no more”
