This sub thinks the team is supposed to never lose a game. And when they do lose a game, the whole team is garbage and everyone needs to be traded.

This is a very specific type of loss to a specific type of team that we have been talking about for years now. This is the lakers coasting
When we loss to OKC last year, there wasn’t doom and gloom because we competed for 48 minutes.
Last night. we didn’t compete, and we’ve been taking stretches off for multiple games now and noone was allowed to talk about it because we were winning.
Now we can talk about Luka and Austin’s usage and efficiency being unsustainably high, about what lebron’s best fit is, about playcalling, about other pieces, because you can’t say that when Luka and Austin can bail out any play.
It’s the internet, and this specific sports sub is uniquely toxic. I’ve noticed other sports, in general, while they will have their over reactive fans, basketball gets some uniquely odd takes. I think it’s because it’s pretty easy to put a ball in a basket, but pretty fking hard to hit a fastball, or score a hockey goal, etc..
This combined w/ the Lakers being the biggest bball brand… you just get some comical takes.
Do what I do… IGNORE THEM. It’s the internet… you get to chose what to put in your brain.
And plus we had a game the other day as well where Austin and Luka played like 40 minutes relax

Two things can be true. We won’t win every game especially while still figuring things out, but the way we lose is kinda an occurring thing. Our defense is an obvious issue but we also struggle with our motor and physicality
I think it’s fair to criticize bad play. I think the doomers go into their thoughts on about how we can’t win in the playoffs, and they fire off a list of all the players we are gonna get with one weak FRP.

I’m glad I’ve followed the Premier League and Mexican league football since childhood. It really puts things in perspective when compared to basketball. Basketball regular season losses feel like nothing compared to suffering through a derby loss in the Premier League. These fair weather faker fans wouldn’t make it through half a season following football.

I love a lot of the discussion on the Lakers sub but it’s unbearable in any game thread or when we lost a game.

According to multiple takes on social media I’ve read, Luka and AR should be traded, LeBron should immediately retire, JJ should be fired, and the team will win every game after that. This fanbase is so smart.

This is the most reactionary sub in the world, I swear to god. It’s just a loss. the lakers are still the 2nd seed. why even get stressed?
It wasn’t the loss that upset me so, it’s the fashion. There was no attempt to come back and regain control. It’s the lack of effort and every time we lose its like a domino effect where things get worse and worse. Turnover after turnover, lack of defensive effort, and just being sloppy. Then you look to Luka and AR or even LeBron to try to do something or play ISO ball. Offense becomes stagnant and the role players are afraid to shoot. It’s literally the same thing we’re watching even during the 7-game streak. Most of those wins you walk away feeling weird and unsatisfied because it never really felt like we dominated our opponents when we were supposed to. We’ve been losing the same way and even when we win we rarely seemed like we got everything under control and a huge part is on JJ. The schedule did help because we barely played any competitive team during that 7-game stretch so it wasn’t really anything to boast about. Yes, I believe we’re a playoffs team. No, I don’t believe we will have a deep run if we keep playing the way we play.
