How would Paul George ever have been a face of the franchise or #2? He wasn’t even #2 when he signed here. And if you were heading into this season thinking Embiid was the face of the franchise, that seems fairly misguided, too. But thanks Ramona!

Cool, Joel always hated being the face of the team and by his own admission he is bad at interpersonal stuff.
Maxey is now the best player but it shouldn’t always be the best player who is the leader.
Also never forget Rivers tried to send Maxey to the G-League and then had him coming off the bench and lied and said it was Maxey’s idea.
The number of non-basketball players that have screwed this org over the past 10 years is truly insane.
Edit: to be clear, the “coming off the bench” incident was in Doc’s final year. Maxey had an injury that took him out for two weeks or so. He came back and Doc had him coming off the bench. When asked doc said that it was Maxey’s idea. It was not and Maxey said as much. He later returned to the starting line up with Tobias, Embiid, Harden, and Melton.
If Morey is smart enough and willing to show that he can make great moves outside of drafting, he needs to do everything possible to get rid of PG and Embiid that doesn’t involve the Clippers’ picks. The only untouchables IMO are Maxey and VJ. Otherwise he needs to be fired and we get a GM who isn’t afraid to push them out the door. Look at how the Mavs are treating AD, willing to trade him already after Nico Harrison’s fuckup. Embiid was fucked over by poor GM decisions during his prime, it sucks, but he also just couldn’t stay healthy when he absolutely needed to. Maxey doesn’t have that same problem, and doesn’t deserve to have half his prime wasted.

That last game in particular really felt like a changing of the guard. Maxey (despite the ft misses) played like a franchise leader. Whereas whenever the two old, future HoFers had the ball it was nerve wracking and sluggish

The 76ers are well on their way to wasting the prime of yet another top 10 player.
Bringing PG in and resigning Embiid when we had a young budding superstar might have been the single dumbest thing I can remember this franchise doing outside of bringing in Al Horford to put next to Embiid and Ben Simmons.
Joel literally named him The Franchise and has encouraged him at every turn. And not when he was broken either, when he was dominating the league he called Maxey The Franchise.
