UNBELIEVABLE… #charliesmyth #neworleanssaints #nfl #nflnews
Where did this man come from? Saints kicker Charlie Smith made his NFL debut yesterday. But here’s the crazy part. Bro wasn’t even supposed to be here. By the way, if you like elite sports content like this, make sure to follow. Now, let me set the scene for you cuz this is wild. Up until just last year, Smith had spent his entire life as a goalie playing Gaelic football in Ireland, which in American terms is soccer. But in 2024, he joined the International Player Pathway program and decided to start training as a kicker for the NFL. Yeah, that’s right. He only started training to play American football a year ago. So yesterday when the Saints called him up from the practice squad to make his debut against the Dolphins, bro must have been himself. And then he probably really soiled his pants when the Saints were only down 11 in the fourth quarter and he was called on to kick his first field goal. Now you’re probably thinking this is his first ever kick. So they’re going to give him something easy, right? Charlie Smith, his first NFL regular season kick. This is 56 yds away. The kick is off. It’s out. Wrong. His first ever make was a 56 y and bro could have made that one from 70. But wait, cuz that’s not it. Now the Saints are only down four with just over a minute to go. And now Smith is asked to line up for an onside kick. Now, as we know, since the rule change, it’s been virtually impossible to recover an onside kick. So there’s no way in his first NFL game after only training for a year, this man’s going to kick a 50 plus yard field goal and recover an onside kick, right? Things for the Saints. It must travel 10. The Saints win. Even though they’d end up losing this man, while all of Ireland was watching and going crazy, made not only a 56-yd field goal for his first ever field goal, but also kicked just the fourth successful onside kick of the season. This man just broke

love it for the Irish, they are the Mexicans of the white people.
Guess I’m about to see a whole lot of saints jerseys next time I’m in Ireland.
As saints fan we wanted to see what he can do at training camp dude was kicking 60 to 70 yard field goals and make them look easy . His 56 yard field goal yesterday look like it could been good from 66 yards. At Tulane stadium while training he kicks so high at 40 yards he was kicking it over the net so don’t be surprised if he doesn’t kicks over the net at 40+ yards at different stadiums. His onside kick he put so much Irish on it they couldn’t over turn Vele recovering the onside kick best helicopter kick by a kicker I have seen. Morten Anderson was soccer player he was one of the best kickers ever
The next Brandon Aubrey, soccer player turned NFL player with big leg
WhoDat!
Since the cowboys kicker came from playing soccer I’m sure every team is trying to sign a kicker that came from soccer
Thats a great story.
He just started his career with his best foot forward 😅
As a dolphin fan they shouldn’t have got the onside it didn’t touch any of the players and he touched it like 1 yard before the 45. Just a horrible call
