John Harbaugh Makes it Clear. Ravens Are a Running Team | Baltimore Ravens Final Drive

It’s all eyes on the Pittsburgh Steelers this week as preparations are underway for Sunday’s first of two bouts with the familiar AFC North foe. Both teams are in the hunt for the division crown and coming off losses. After Thanksgiving’s loss to the Bengals, in which Derrick Henry only had 10 rushing attempts, the Ravens know they need to solidify their identity as a running team and do so more efficiently. We want to run the ball. We’re a ran team, you know. I mean, that’s the fact. And we we’re a throwing team, too. We got Lamar Jackson. We got receivers and tight ends. We got all that, but but we want to always be a team that runs the ball and stops the run. That’s been since 2008. You know, it’s not going to really probably ever change. And that’s really what football is. The Steelers are coming off a loss to the Bills in which they allowed 249 rushing yards, the most the Pittsburgh defense has allowed at home since 1975. Former Raven linebacker Patrick Queen’s status for Sunday’s game is in question as he’s dealing with a glute injury. And Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin also announced that defensive tackle Derrick Harmon would miss the matchup with a knee injury, an absence that will be felt in the Steelers run defense. With a division that’s wide open as the Ravens enter December, the Ravens know the importance of being efficient and effective in the run game as they look to seal the division for the third straight year.   8. We are s running a team that abandons the run because of your offensive line,and we are so predictable. Why is Henry or Mitchell off the field on passing plays . He gets positive yardage on one run and then onto the sideline. We all know he wares down the opposing team the more carries he gets . Then you take him off the field on passing plays, leaving your QB one dementional with a bad offensive line. Make it make sense .

  14. Prove it. You have had one of the most dangerous runners in NFL history and you give him 10 carries!!! The Ravens have had no clue what team they are this season. The passing game is failing miserably (<60% completions in 4 straight games) yet a man that can break a game open gets nearly no use. If you are not going to use him to his potential then trade him. Make up your minds Ravens. If you are a run team; prove it this Sunday. Let the King run wild following Pancake Pat

  15. Harbzy has mastered the saying pissing down ones leg and telling em its raining. We broke an NFL record 3,000 rushing yards on offense last year while abandoning are strongest threat even then and now we’ve abandoned it completely. Lamar, Henry, Mitchell, Hill and Ali can serve up all types of problems but yet we make it easier on opposing defenses to figure us out. Harbzy retire already.

    But he's a clown as a coach.

    If you know that this is a running team, why do you allow Monken to go away from the run so often?
    Henry had 0 touches in the 2nd quarter when we were up.
    Why?

    Every year, we abandon the run in multiple games, even though we typically have a top 5 rushing offense.
    We have freaking DERRICK HENRY!
    Why would we EVER stop using a hall of famer?

  18. This is bs. ZERO faith that this Coaching staff will Run and come up with a smart game plan that maximizes OUR strengths! . How many games have we abandoned the run? We can not pass block yet our game plan is to rely on slow developing passing plays and have Lamar running for his life. Our Coaches are ridiculous stupid. I have no faith in them.

  20. Running team but stopped using LJ as a runner. Main reason this entire season has been so seesaw is because Monken forgot the cheat code is making teams respect LJ as a runner. It opens opportunities for EVERYONE in both the run and pass. Smh.

  21. The last time we actually played like a “running team” was LAST YEAR vs PIT in the playoffs! I’m just hoping Monken has a flashback to the mindset he brought into that game because THAT type of play calling is what will win the SB. The ONE team who knows us best was lost for answers. He’s has COMPLETELY gotten away from utilizing LJ and it’s resulted in less opportunities with space for EVERYONE. Both run and pass. It’s been atrocious how he’s been using the ultimate cheat code. 👨‍💻
