Angels SIGN Alek Manoah to Major League Deal… Starter in 2026? #RepTheHalo #GoHalos #Angels #LTBU

It’s a Tuesday news day for the Angels. What’s going on everybody? John Fish, one half of Lockdown Angels. Alec Manoa has signed a one-year $1.95 million deal with the Angels per Jeff Passen of ESPN. It’s a major league deal and it’s guaranteed money. It’s $2 million for a starting pitcher who has not had uh a lot of luck in the last few seasons. Now, we all know him as the guy who broke Taylor Ward’s face. You send Ward out of Anaheim and then you pick up Alec Manoa. That’s interesting. Okay. However, in the past, Alec Manoa has been a very decent starter, but he had Tommy John surgery in 2024 and that has kept him out of the majors since then. He’s just not been able to bounce back very well. A lot of control issues as we know. However, I kind of wonder I’m looking at uh roster resource here from Fan Graphs. He’s got two option years, which means for this year and next year, he can be sent up and down between the majors and the minors. So, it kind of opens up a number of situations, possibilities. Are the Angels going to put him right into the rotation? I hope not because he has a lot to prove to prove that he can still do this. Um, at $2 million, it’s not that big of a risk, but you can’t guarantee him a spot in the rotation. You just can’t. Second, could he be a long man in the bullpen? That’s possible. Maybe that’s kind of how he works his way back and if they need him in the rotation, they can certainly do that. The other thing is, um, it is a major league deal, so he’ll be part of the major league roster, but they can send him back and forth between the minors and the majors. I’m not excited about the fact that they could just slot him into the rotation, but that feels like a very Angels thing to do. Uh he is a reclamation project. Again, two million.   4. Adding backups already that are long shots. Seems like a Angel deal to me. Rather have them lock up Kenley first before they start signing low risk high reward prospects.
