What options do the Broncos have to get illegal pick plays like this reviewed and called going forward? Can they send in complaints to the league after the game?
December 2, 2025
Not that it’ll lead anywhere probably, but damn. On both plays there were illegal screens, which could have decided the game.

Dont be that guy. We won. Move on to hate week. FTR
Yes, teams send in plays every week for the league to review.
Defenses are going to have to start switching defenders on these if the refs won’t call OPI.
There is nothing available post fact to review or reverse. Just like the “tripping” play the Commanders fans were bitching about (Tillman getting Mariota with his leg to mark him down as a sack – despite the fact that Tillman was held by his facemask). You can’t challenge penalties (calls or no calls) or judgement rulings.
EDIT: I went and watched the play again. Tillman definitely was held, but not by his facemask.
We tried and failed, like most refs. They really haven’t been against us this year (unlike the the last 5) and we lead the league in penalty yards. W is W. Let’s celebrate that.
Uhhh, the Broncos ran nearly the same play earlier in the game for a first down and also did not get called. At least the refs were consistent.
No joke, I think that play had more picks than a Steph Curry 3 in 2015.
The shitmanders did plays like this literally all game. I counted AT LEAST 6 of them and that’s without even being able to see most of the plays develop.
I mean yes, we do a certain amount of these as well, but I’ve not seen any team run as many pick plays as I saw on Sunday night. That was an atrocity and the main reason they moved the ball down the field and in the red zone consistently.
Pick plays are some of the most inconsistently called penalties in the league, happens all the time. It’s just not something they’ll ever get down perfect
Obvious pick play…but also a lot of controversy about the “trip” on Mariota as well.
It was a hold which led to Tillman falling over with his legs out like that.
Also…is it tripping if it is above the knee? Tillman’s foot hit Mariota in the left thigh.
I know pick plays happen all the time, I know the Broncos aren’t innocent in setting pick plays, but when it’s so obvious it takes a guy off his feet AND it leads to a touchdown, it should be called
You worded this post as if teams only run it against the Broncos and it’s not fair. Very weird!
This is a known play call. It’s mesh traffic. We ran it against the bengals and got Harvey a TD. These picks were really bad but contact is allowed if it’s deemed incidental. Good picks make the db go around or get them to slow down but then step out of the way so no contact is actually made. The picks the commanders ran were all pretty much blocks. Good play calling by the commanders, bad execution for sure and they got lucky they didn’t get called
If you’re defending the goal line and the offense lines up in a wide set like this, you should absolutely be expecting the pick play and defend accordingly.
The Commanders executed perfectly and we didn’t.
The play on the TD to McClaurin was egregious. I think the play on the 2-pt conversion was just a really good play call. Less of a pick and more of creating a situation that Huefanga has to navigate through four other players.
The officiating crew we had didn’t call a lot of flags. Missed calls went both ways.
I think that’s within 5 yards and you can do pick plays there? Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.
Honestly I don’t care. Broncos are winning and that’s all that matters to me!
Is it possible it wasn’t called because the ref thought Deebo was pushed into the broncos CB? I realized this isn’t the same play but I’m talking about the play before
That was a bad no call. But there were also plenty of bad calls/no calls that went in our favor. We won which is all that matters, and the best we can hope for is that the league does something about inconsistant reffing.
Im sick of fans arguing over who the refs benefited the most, even when they go against us
Is much rage the league start calling holding on Cooper and Bonito
Might be wishful thinking but there’s a chance we get an OPI call if that pass was completed. They always throw flags for those pick plays late so could have kept in his pocket because it didn’t matter. I still haveng seen a good view that shows it actually was illegal pick or not but looks like it likely was from the broadcast view but who knows
Lmao no
The previous TD had a nasty pick on it too. I was screaming at the TV. Ps2 damn near got de cleated.
How about calling illegal procedure on a left tackle who moves early on every play?
Thank god for Nik Bonito.
Fuck the refs. There were a few instances of that shit happening on the game
Since when is a pick play Illegal
It’s just a really hard play to officiate because the receiver has a right to run their route. The line between incidental contact and PI is blurry.
