Titans defense has done fairly well considering the major shortage of talent

  1. Wilson and Bones both deserve a look by whatever coach we bring in next season. I really hope we retain Bones as he’s really made special teams a bright spot on a dead roster.

  2. Really think the next Titans HC should have serious consideration for keeping Dennard as the team’s defensive coordinator. He’s working with corners that were never really meant to see the field in a meaningful way. And he has Winston Jr. and Marcus Harris looking like key players on this defense.

  3. Yeah, Dennard Wilson is an underrated defensive coordinator. Our defense is not good, but it’s better than it should be given our paucity of talent on that side of the ball.

  4. i still remember people in this subreddit clamoring to fire wilson earlier in the season: that’s why you don’t rush to judgment

  5. Sound tackling is about the best we can ask of the talent we have. The rest should come with investment in the right players.

  6. We hired the wrong head coach. I wonder what happens if we hire Wilson instead of Callahan? 😮‍💨

  7. Come on..let’s not act like we have talent on offense either. Our wrs are rookies and rid was never healthy. And defense has been ok but by that I’m only referring to the Dline…our linebackers are ok but our secondary is truly bad

  8. I feel like some of this falls into the caetegory of the old Mark Twain saying: There are 3 types of lies – Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics.

Like, Cumberland could say they were perfect on 3rd down against Georgia Tech in 1916 where they ultimately came up just a bit short, 222-0. That’s true, Cumberland allowed no 3rd down conversions… becuse Georgia Tech scored on 1st down every time they had the ball. That statistic would be misleading.

Show me more. Show me time of posession, and also total defensive snaps for the Titans compared to the rest of the league. My suspicion is that both teams are running the ball and shortening the game which might be contributing to some of these. And the missed tackles, I want to know how many attempted tackles or are our oppoents ending a lot of plays on the boundry?

Titans did play better until Sunday. That game against the Jags was awful.

  9. I thought that our CB room had a shot at being one of the worst ever after the McCreary trade and Sneed injury (not that Sneed has been worth playing for most of the season himself). On paper, it looked pretty darn rough, and I expected teams to pass all over our defense. I’m happy to say that they have far exceeded my expectations. The young guys are competing out there!

  10. Wilson feels like a guy who will go somewhere else and have unbelievable success. I’ll go ahead and call it now even though it’s terribly premature: I think he’s HC material down the line

  11. Our defense was elite last season before Jones was traded and there was some talent around

  12. Man get Wilson some Reeves or Bain and let’s see what this guy can do with an actual pass rusher.

  13. He’s perfectly fine but a lot of these stats are as always helped by our offense being totally unable to do anything. Like why would the other offense do anything special when garbage time usually starts midway through the second quarter against us? 29th in the league in receiving yards per play, meaning when the other team actually feels like throwing the ball they have a fairly easy time doing so.
