The Rams Just Got Sneaky Good News | Los Angeles Rams

The Rams just got sneaky good news. You might not see it on the surface, but I promise you’ll see it by the end of this video. Hit subscribe if you’re looking for Rams news updates and takes. My question for you today today, guys, is about this man, 22 Atwell. I’m curious, how are you guys feeling about 22 Atwell? Like, I’m I’m just curious how Rams fans feel about him. You paid him $10 million for the year, and you factored him into the plan. Shawn McVey wanted him in the plan. and that’s why he paid him including obviously Pukanakua and Dvonte Adams but he was a part of the plan then he goes and he’s injured and he comes back and he’s a healthy scratch this weekend so I’m curious in this loss to the Panthers like how are you feeling about the 22 Atwell situation do you feel like it was a waste to pay him or you feeling like you know it’s okay I can’t wait till he comes back I think you’re going to like what I have to say about him even if you’re not a big 22 Atwell fan uh but McVey just to give context said that it came down to roster management basically and that the the need for certain personnel specifically on special teams. McVey said he wanted to get him out there last week, he wants to get him out there this week, but then also was very non-committal about it and was kind of continuing to kind of play that roster management card. So, I’m curious what you guys think in general about this guy. Like, are you optimistic about Tutu? Are you like, “Yeah, we signed him on a one-year deal and we’re not going to keep him after this year.” Let me know what you guys think in the comments about that one. But let’s jump into kind of the update here. Uh, you know, 22 Atwell, uh, we learned today, is more than a wide receiver. Xavier Smith, uh, talked about 22 Atwell, saying some really cool things here. Here’s what he said. While Atwell was on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury. Smith spoke about his relationship with the former second round pick during his media availability, saying, “I always tell people when I first came out, he was one of the first guys who took me under his arms and wanted to see my potential and just wanted me to learn the offense. Ever since my first day, he’s been a guy that’s kind of led the way for me. I watch him do what he does on a cons on consistent basis. So when it’s my time, I just want to kind of follow the same footsteps to do it as good as he does. Just being that deep threat, that speed player, but also that guy behind the scenes who’s lifting everybody up, making sure everybody is playing at their highest level, but bringing that energy, bringing that atmosphere. A guy like that is irreplaceable. Whether he’s making the plays on the field or off the field, his injury definitely taken a toll on his on this receiver room. He’s behind the scenes right now since he hasn’t been on the field, but you could see the love, the passion that we all play with. Having a guy like that in the room makes it a lot easier. And it gets better for 22. I mean, that’s that’s the the general vibe of what he brings to the locker room, the energy that he brings to this Rams offense. And that’s something you got to give a little bit of credit to. Atwell has just four receptions for 164 yards in six games played this season. But his 88yard touchdown with less than two minutes to go against the Indianapolis Colts earlier this season was a game-winning score. Obviously a big one. And I say sneaky good for another reason. Personally, I’m just telling you my my my honest my honest opinion. Okay? And this is why right here. 22 Outwell in 2024. I remember this. I’m not even a Rams fan. 22 Atwell in 2024 has eight games of 15 plus yards per reception on only 42 total receptions. That’s eight games where he averaged 15 plus yards per reception. I want to say four or five of them were 20 plus. One of them, the one that sticks out to me was against the the 49ers, NFC West rivals. He goes up against the the 49ers, puts up like about a 100 yards, but it just felt like, man, this guy could just find wide open spaces and the pace that he has was able just to cut through their secondary um so incredibly well. So, I say 22 Atwell is sneaky good. And whether you, you know, like the $10 million price tag or not, whether you, you know, like the player or not, you got to give credit to how he has impacted the roster, the ro the locker room, excuse me. Every single team needs culture players like this. Apparently, apparently to Xavier Smith, he is a culture player. Let me know what you guys think in the comments about that one. I got one other thing for you, by the way. So, you guys know the NFC West picture, of course, but I was looking at the remaining games for the NFC West teams. So, you’ve got uh well, outside of the Cardinals, because who cares? Their playoff probability is zero. Uh so, the the the the Rams remaining schedule includes a 26 and 34 record. So, an overall losing record. Of course, you got the Cardinals twice, which really helps there. You got the Lions and Seahawks and Falcons. Um, some tough games in there for sure, but you only need to win a few more to to kind of close out the um, close out the NFC West in my opinion because when you look at the Seahawks, the Seahawks have their their remaining schedule has a combined record of 37 and 25. They also have to play the Falcons. They’re playing them this week. They have to play the Colts. They have to play you guys, the Rams. They have to play the Panthers. Who knows which Panthers they’ll face. And then they end the season against the 49ers who of course will be fighting them for the opportunity to be uh uh at top the NFC West or secure their place in uh in the wild card. So it’s an interesting matchup. They they’re playing against some really tough teams to close out the season. And then the 49ers uh let’s see here. They have their by-week this week and then they’re playing a combined 27-21 record. So an overall winning record. They have Titans, Colts, Bears, and of course, Seahawks. So, you know, as I’m looking at it for the Rams, I think this breaks down pretty well for you guys. Let me know what you guys think in the comments about 22 Atwell and this run in here. I don’t think you have any reason to be concerned. I think your team is doing just fine. I think you have uh the the remaining games you need to secure the NFC West. Uh and we’ll see how it all plays out. Appreciate you guys. Hope you guys have a fantastic rest of your Tuesday night.

  1. And how many times have we heard the coach say that? Sad for a coach touted as inactive that he can't come up with a couple routes for a player they paid. He's shown he can run all the routes, very reliable hands and always a team player.
