Anyone else read this and think “yup, makes sense” like immediately
*sigh*
Why do all washed players somehow end up on the Angels
This is such an Angels deal.
Like real dollars?
Damn. Not a terrible gamble for the price, but seemed more like a minor league contract kinda situation more than a fully guaranteed near $2 million deal.
Sounds about right
He has options so he’s not guaranteed a spot and its a buy low deal
I dont hate it
Angels always doing the most random shit in the offseason.
This is good move for him because the air pressure in Anaheim is typically lower than that of Toronto.
‘Don’t call it a comeback!’
Honestly a sub-$2 million contract is low risk-high rewards for the Angels
AL Cy Young – 3 in 2026
Arte Moreno

Here’s hoping it works out for him
No wonder Taylor Ward got traded
Excellent fit for him, low pressure situation with a spot in rotation if he manages to even be a somewhat adequate version of his former self.
angels hat actually looks good on him, it fits, makes sense all around.
I’ll hand it to Arte that he does try to win. Even if
he needs to put his ego aside and let someone who actually knows what they’re doing handle the baseball ops.
It’s 2M for a pitcher who was 13% above average the last time he pitched in the Majors. There’s no risk here, I don’t get why everyone is freaking out
man imagine telling an Angels fan a few years ago that they would build a rotation with Grayson Rodriguez and Alek Manoah.
Love ya, Big Puma. Hope you figure it out and give ’em hell out in Anaheim.
Sure what the hell.
Taylor Ward actually died for this
I really hope he rebounds. Love big Puma
I hope he does well, but it could be difficult as post TJ he throws 90-91 instead of his former 94. I think this is why the Jays and Braves released him.
Prophecy has been followed
Look, one year for 2 mil on a 27 year old that used to be good. This isn’t the worst.

Good deal for the Angels tbh. Yeah, he fell off hard, but let’s not forget how nasty he was in ’22. Low risk, high reward for the Angels. Between him and Grayson they could potentially have 2 aces, gonna be interesting to see how it plays out
I assume Manoah sees this as a bit of a pillow deal/bounceback contract where he is getting basically a guaranteed roster spot to play and show what he can do
The Angels get an innings eater, maybe someone with good upside that they can trade?
Little surprised it wasn’t like, 1 year with an option for year 2. Manoah would want that security if he’s bad, the Angels would want the option so they can cut him if he’s bad but also they’re not going to be that much better next year either and could still use him.
Would’ve been pretty awkward if they didn’t trade away Ward
I wish Alek well, truly. I hope he becomes the biggest comeback of the decade.
Mike Maddux really ’bout to prove himself as the pitching coach goat when Manoah, Rodriguez, and Detmers look like aces this year.
I hope he can have a resurgent year and save his career
Ideal spot. He needs to lose weight and our a/c less gym should be the perfect training area to do this. Sauna and a gym at the same time thats some big thinking right there!
