NHL Highlights | Wild vs. Oilers – December 2, 2025

tournament. Brian Nanopkins. Well, with him back, all the Oilers did. Two of two on the power play. Six for six on the penalty kill. New Jan Hopkins starts the game with a faceoff win and Edmonton. Here’s Erikson. Good chance on the slide. Shouldered away by Steuart Skinner. Tough early test. Now McDavid breaks in on his backand ditches and a save made. Volstead had time to get over and stop by Ty Emerson. I mean, that’s the body getting in front of that one. Good stick by Spurgeon. They’re also missing a young player they like by the name of Denila Yurov who’s been playing at times first line center for Minnesota. Here’s Curtis Lazar back door and a quick shot sharp angle and a save made by 52 and two thus far at Rogers Place. Wilder 64 and one meanwhile on the road. Booard. Shot flutters into the waiting glove of Olstead. Another battle won. This one by Middleton. Trenton got powled over. A quick shot taken by Frederick. Then glanced out and held in by Kulak at the point who lifts off the short glass. Minnesota’s approval on Boo Shark. And he got off to a slow start this year as well. Regul steps up and shoots and a save made by Volstead. And Gabri leads the Wild with seven power play goals. He and Dry subtle tied for second in the league. Takes a chunk rebound. Couple of whacks at it for Ericson. The puck stays out. Killed off some time on his own there. Here’s Jared Spurgeon hitting the line with a quick shot. Terasenko not much on it. He did keep it in against Regula. Terasenko six time 30goal score. Had it batted down by Regula. Rebound Rock Fab through Lar fed back to the point. Spurge and Terasenko. Spurgeon a wrist shot and that was deflected wide. Rebound Terasenko spent last year in Detroit. Scored just 11 goals for the favor. One-time Spurgeon and that was towed aside by Skinner. Rebound Terasenko. 10 seconds on the power play. Minnesota tried to break the scoreless tie. Terraenko loads and fires. Save made by Skinner. Rebound four controlled and cleared by Regula. Police in the mammoth. And a blast by Broaddin off the draw beats Skinner glove side and Minnesota takes a one nothing lead with Dry Cidle and McDavid on the ice. Offensive zone face off one cleanly back and he just ripped this one. It’s just he steps into it. I mean this one comes directly back to him and he just lets this one go. It’s Sturm with the win. He wins this one cleanly. Dribbles right back. I don’t think it tips. Maybe a tiny screen in the high slot, but it’s because he just blasts this one through. We’ll take a look. Fly by screen in the high slot. That’s exactly what it is. Get to turn 20. He’ll do so on Sunday. Still just 19. We’re losing sight of the puck was Frederick. Here’s Capri. Sharp angle and a save made by Skinner on Minnesota’s number 97. Hard rim up the right hand side in case you’re wondering. Yeah, Capri off also a 2015 pick. First shot off the rush. Duck tied up at center with Eric. Turned over now. Spurgeon will jump up. Threeon two Minnesota shot. Eric and a save and no rebound issued by Steuart Skinner. Then Baldi’s gone on the heater. That cold the outlet. Evan Boo short. Boilers looking for the equalizer. Snap shot. Nan Hopkins save. Fallst gets a little help stick in the lane. Turnover as that one’s scooped up by Skinner on the wrist off the faceoff. Second period. Edmonson trailing Minnesota one- nothing as the Oilers kick off a fivegame home stand. Seattle next up on Thursday. That’ll be a seven mountain start. New Jin Hopkins wins the opening faceoff and it’s sent in by Koulak. Boilers had some chances early as Louie talked about. took a penalty and though Minnesota didn’t score on it. Wildb built momentum from there. Here’s a steel new a shot thwarted by Hartman. A blast by Kulak and that’s snared by Yesper Volstead. And for a team that was the last one in last year. He started thinking oh is this it for this indoctrination of Minnesota Wild players? Are they going to break it up? Minnesota beginning of a four game trip Calgary Thursday and then on into Vancouver and Seattle. Here’s Nico St feeding the slot at practice by my partner yesterday. Thought it was a new player. Here’s Nan Hopkins. A shot that was fought off by false. Best chance in a while for Edmonson. Henrik newly shorn facial hair crossed up by partner. He’s had three different looks. He shaved a beard early on. left the stash, shaved the stash, and now he’s got the clean look. Looks 10 years younger. Nurse, well, his clean look like last all of what about 20 minutes. He’s got the heaviest beard in the league. Regula Dryside loads and fires. Easy save for ball. Here’s Eko using a screen from Savoy. Booard to Conor McDavid. Beautiful try move to the net. back door redirected and then a save on Seavoy as Walstep shrugs that one off with the shoulder. Here’s McDavid looking back door as Seavoy was wide open. Louie and the Wild Five have been out there for a minute 10. Dry Sutter wins the face off. So let’s see how Minnesota handles this. Bart to Drytle saucered over to Ecom loads and fires one off the post blast. He walks in. If you’re allowed to walk into the dot, why not give it a try? And that’s exactly what he does in in the corner. Time down to 55 seconds. Finally rolls out to Booard. Now McDavid tries in front. Backhander Iman stuff rebound. McDavid put it into an area out to Bard. A blast and a save made knocked it down just inside the blue line looking for Henry. Seavoy snapped it out and fires and that stayed out continues to dig in. Another chance for Gozian. Here’s a shot to save made by Stuart Skinner on Buos. Cycle disrupted by Tyler Pitlick who of course broke in with Edmonton as their 31st pick back in 2010. Shot by Nurse. Softly played into the corner by Val. What a job by Pitlick to stay in the lead. Regained a job with Minnesota this year in this 19. McDavid trying to center. Stolen and cleared by Nico Sturm and chipped in by Oakren. Edmonson dominant in the faceoff circle better than 70% tonight. Dry subtle wins another one. E McDavid and Hyman getting a ship five on five. Dry subtle a stop made by Ballstead and another penalty earned in front as Heyman kind of soccered away by Hartman. And now a giveaway. Seavoi against Spurgeon inside to Henry to the net and Mstead held his ground. Rebound nice pass. Shot through the blue paint carried off the quarter boards out to the Goan. Now a chance for Zukarella. Point blank and a save up near the clavicle made by Skinner. He’ll squeeze it to hug that post. Little forch checking here by Hartman. And Zukarella never really looks at Skinner. So he’s looking at Capabris off the whole time selling paths. You stay with the program. Believe you’re going to find the solution because they were the much better team in the second period. Outshooting Minnesota 15-6 in that period. Keep going that way. And that’s exactly what Craig Mcavish and Bob Staer said too. It was a solid period right as this puck comes up into the bench here. Adam Henry wedges one behind the Minnesota net. Grabbed it back. trying to sneak it through Ballstead. Apparently, it was the effects, Mike, that fell into the bench there. They were laughing about. Here’s Baldi bulldozing his way in. And I think he’s drawn a penalty on Nurse for a hole. The power play. They weren’t really amounting to a whole lot, but the power play gave them some life. And Baldi, who as you mentioned, hasn’t had a ton of chances in this one. Good stick right there to bobble this puck in the air and then as he’s trying to stay with it. That’s why he’s quarterback in the top power by the way. And that in front and a one touch from Capri got through to Skinner. Power play 24% coming in. William a shot deflected save. Skinner rebounded the blue paint. Hacking and whacking and Skinner spllay out. Gulak Emerson was in there too. Here it is. Erikson X’s a big human. bounces right off of him as he comes down. He kind of shoves the pad of Skinner. That would have been an interesting review for me. If you watch his stick, he goes right into the pad, lands on him. Don’t know if that would have been able to count, but he was shoved. Sorry. That’s a pretty good shove by Emerson that puts him in there. And then Zukarella was stopped by Skinner. Did Zukarella try to head that one? He did. Chipped off the left hand side. You got No, I’m getting up above you. Capri off in front just wide. David looking for Heyman takes the puck in. Tried to feed the point. Here’s Bousard breaking loose down low back and gear and that was stopped by Mol the right players on the ice. Here’s a great little tow drag right here by Bousard that threads this one through for Heyman. That’s a couple chances back to center but that’s all. Bard will move it to dry subtle. Play is on side. Faber with a chance to eat it. He’ll take it into the corner and the horn goes and Minnesota has survived one- nothing.

Jonas Brodin scored the lone goal of the game and Jesper Wallstedt made 33 saves to record his fourth shutout in his last six appearances, elevating the Minnesota Wild to a 1-0 win over the Edmonton Oilers.

  1. Here in Minnesota, we've had to hear about how the North Stars passed on drafting Steve Yzerman for the last 40 years, how the Vikings passed on drafting Aaron Rodgers, and how the Timberwolves passed on drafting Steph Curry (twice).

Not comparing Wallstedt to any of them this early on, but Edmonton might be kicking themselves for awhile for punting on taking him in 2021.

  2. Наблюдая за Вальстедом я заметил, что он очень здорово владеет ловушкой.

  3. Another game and another day when McDavid looks into the mirror after every game with a thousand-yard stare thinking about his 2 year extension.
    RIP

  4. Clattenburg played pretty well, but he's going to need to bring more aggression, more aggravation if he's going to stay in the show. half way through the second the Oilers were desperate for a spark and he's got to take some chances, get under some skin and piss people off. start something, anything. bring it Clattenburg, this is your chance!!

  5. Wallstedt is the goalie the Oilers need. That they passed on him is kind of funny. Wallstedt is now 7-0-0 in his last seven starts, with four shutouts.

  6. Ребята!!! До чего же хорош Вальсстедт!!! Это же надо: новичок и уже четыре сухаря!!! И играет не против слабых команд! Гуса он однозначно уже обошел по статистике и по надёжности!!!

  7. Wild only managed to score on goal despite there being a trash can in net. Luckily they had a brick wall. He’s better than Gus I’d say, 4 shutouts

  8. Wallstedt could end up with the calder if this continues. He's great but also get so much great help from the rest of the team. They really play for him right now.

  9. The good news for the Oilers is they kept the puck out of their net and only allowed one goal which is actually pretty unusual for them. The bad news for the Oilers was that was one goal more than they managed to score! F'ing hilarious! 🤣

  10. I love how calm Wallstedt seems to be during the game. No panic, no excess movement, always following the puck. I hope he will be part of the Swedish olympic team in February.

  11. Another great offensive output by the Oilers! Again, it's Skinner's fault, he didn't do enough to help the offense.
    Trade his a$$!!

  12. Вольдстат конечно зверь, если бы не он счет был совсем другим. Не хочется портить ощущения от победы, но контракт Капризова не дает покоя игрокам Миннесоты…

  13. McDavid totaly lost the shooting mentality.. always trying to find someone to empty net, which is kinda problem, if that is is basicaly about 2 players and one of them is McDavid… What are even those lines? Is the coach drunk or what?

  14. Skinner must be blind, that first goal he saw all the way, all the way from the blueline. I must admit that the Oilers problems are not only goaltending, but even McDavid was also invisible tonight.
