HOT Texans Rumors: Tyrann Mathieu Wants To Be A Texan, Tank Dell Return Status + Chiefs Spiraling

[Music] Welcome into Texans today everybody. I’m your host Jeremy Chugs and coming up on today’s show, could the Texans sign the Honeybadger Tyron Matthew? Will Tankdale play at all this season? Three Toro heads, it’s pretty likely. And if I give something for Toro heads, will H-town hold it down? You know, it’s going to happen. All right, let’s talk about our first story on today’s show. Could the Texans sign Tyron Matthew? I’m going to give this one Toro head saying there’s a chance people are talking. And if you’re wondering, Jeremy, did didn’t he retire with the Saints earlier this off? I mean, what what are we talking about? Why why are you even bringing this up? Well, thanks to my good friend K. Adams. If you don’t believe me, we follow each other on Twitter. So, of course, we’re amazing friends, me and Kay. Um, she posted this interview with Tyron Matthew, and I know it’s at the Chiefs facility, so, you know, take it with a grain of salt, but she was talking to the Honeybadger. And the idea of him playing this season, you know, popped up and he said, “Yeah, I’d love to get back out there. I’d love to play this season. I I feel good. I feel ready. I’m ready to go and play for a contender.” Which kind of sparked some conversation. And then, you know, K, maybe she saw some of my tweets. Maybe maybe a little back and forth between me and the miss, but she also said this. Wait, the Texans should absolutely call Tyron Matthew. So, will it happen? I don’t know. I’ll be looking. Get down in there right now. Let me know. Would you be pumped if the Texans signed the Honeybadger? I mean, I would be pretty excited, right? Like getting a guy of that caliber, getting a guy of that name value, the Honey Badger, Tyron Matthew. I would be okay with it. And especially with everything this Texans secondary has been through this season. Yes, they have an amazing unit, maybe the best corner duo, probably the best corner duo in the NFL, but the safety room has been depleted all season. They cut CJ Gardner Johnson. um you know MJ Stewart went down with injury. Now Jaylen Reed down with injury. So they’re they’re definitely you know getting to the bottom of the barrel, the bottom of the bin in terms of their safety depth on this roster. So maybe insert a guy like Tyron Matthew. Now over the past four years, obviously a little bit of a decline, but I mean he’s played right 16 games in 2021 and then 17 games in the three years prior to this season. and he’s put up some numbers, right? Three interceptions last year, four interceptions the year before. He has produced on the field. And just talking about last year, because it’s a what have you done for me lately kind of league in 17 games played, here’s his coverage stats from last season. 15 completions allowed on 30 attempts, 317 yards, one touchdown allowed, seven PBUs, three interceptions, and a quarterback rating of 59 when targeted. That’s actually not too bad when you consider his age and just the overall play of safeties in the National Football League. The only thing is they restructured his contract before his retirement, basically giving him a one-year $4 million deal for the rest of this year. So, the Saints would need to release him or if it was after this season, I I think maybe trade him. It It’s not clear. I I tried to do some research before this show. I think more than likely the Saints would be willing. I mean, they’re at the bottom. They’re not planning for anything for the rest of the year. I think they would be more than happy to release him if he wanted to come back to the NFL, but since it is past the NFL trade deadline, um I believe he has to clear waiverss if they did release the Honey Badger. So, that’s the only kind of hiccup between, you know, oh, the Texans just go out there and sign Tyron Matthews. There’s a couple hoops that they have to jump through. I’m not saying it’s totally impossible. I it is maybe a little improbable given, you know, he hasn’t played at all this season. And Demo Ryan did come out and say, “We’re going to look to replace Jaylen Reed in the building.” And he also said Jaylen Reed’s injury doesn’t look like it’s going to be a longterm injury. So, just a couple kind of hiccups in the pipe dream of Honeybadger back to the Houston Texans. We have another story talking about on today’s show around one Nathaniel Dell. Will Tank Dell play this season? I’m also going to give it just one Toro head. And trust me, guys, I I wish this this could be four. I wish I could put four beautiful Toro heads up on the screen for you right now, but I just I just don’t know. I I I just don’t know if he’ll be able to get back out there. I know this, he wants to play. Tank Dell more than anything wants to play football. And you know, if you’ve been following the Texans media, the beat reporters, you’ll know over the past couple weeks, Nathaniel Tankdale has been at practice for your Houston Texans. He was actually working on the sideline with CJ Stout as he was coming back from injury, you know, catching balls from Stout on the sideline. So, obviously, you’re like, “Oh, wow. He’s at practice. He’s He’s catching footballs. He must surely be returning. Right, Jeremy? Right, Jeremy? Please, Jeremy, tell me he’s coming back. Let’s pump the brakes. I want to see Tank Dell out there just as much as the next guy. I’m cautiously optimistic, but I’m not expecting him to return or play at all this season. It’s just it’s a lot. And and if I told you, you know, the murmurss and kind of reports that I’ve heard from people close to the team, beat reporters, this that and the other about his progression and, you know, what he’s been able to do. Yeah, he’s been able to get back in the weight room. He’s running around. He’s doing all that stuff. But there’s a big difference between being able to move around, being able to run around, catch balls on the sideline to actual game action. And the big thing with Dell is this. The best part of his game was his quick cutting ability, and being able to stop on a dime. When you absolutely shred your knee, a lot of that that quickness, that mobility gets hindered, right? takes a long time to build that, you know, strength back up. And I I I just don’t know if he’ll be able to go at the end of the year, especially with, you know, I I think the Texans have a pretty decent receiver room right now. I thought Jaden Higgins had a good game this past week, Jaylen Null obviously stepping up, and you have Nico Collins, Christian Kirk, you know, a decent receiver room this year. I don’t think they want to rush him back, and I don’t want to see that either. I want to see Tang Dell at his peak. I want to see him back to as healthy as he he could possibly be. And I know it’s been a year since the injury, you know, coming up at the end of the month. It it’ll be a year to when the Texans play the Chiefs and he sustained that horrific injury. Um I just I just don’t know if it’s going to be this season, guys. I just I just don’t think so. But if he did return, spam three of you’d be pumped to see him back out there. I know I I know all Texans fan I actually had a I had a funny tweet that went out. You might have seen it. I I was being facitious. I was joking around. And I was saying, imagine this. Halftime, all the lights go out at NRG. Single spotlight to the tunnel. It’s Tank Dell. I mean, the PL the roof would be blown off of NRG if that actually happened. And I know Texans fans, they love themselves from Tank Dell, a hometown kid. He went to the University of Houston. He wanted to be a Texan. And I mean, you love that. You love that for Tank Dell. And you love that for this city. Um I just this season returning I think it might be a little bit of a long shot but give it one to ahead. So you’re saying there is a chance. Now lastly on today’s show the Chiefs are they spiraling right now? Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Four Toro heads. Htown hold it down. believe it, baby. Because for the first time in a long time, the Chiefs are kind of on the outside looking in. When you look at the current AFC playoff picture, if I told you the Patriots would be number one in the AFC at this point in the season at the beginning of the year, probably call me crazy, but that’s where we’re at. But then you look at that, you know, others in the hunt, right? Texans are right there at 7 and five. And then behind them, Pittsburgh Steelers and the Kansas City Chiefs. I’m not saying that if the Texans win this Sunday, they knock the Chiefs out of the playoffs, but I’m also not not saying that because if you beat the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football, they essentially have to win out. Plus, you know, this is playoff time, so there’s a lot of pluses. Plus, they would need a lot of help from a lot of other teams. So, winning this Sunday not only puts you one step closer to the playoffs, but it also takes out your Goliath, the team that’s kind of been the team that’s been in your way the past couple of seasons to doing anything in the NFL. Same with the rest of the AFC, right? The Chiefs seem to be the only team that’s making it to the Super Bowl out of our conference. So, if you’re able to beat them on Sunday Night Football, you not only have a leg up to make the playoffs, playoffs, playoffs. Yes, playoffs. you have a leg up, but you might just get the Chiefs out of the playoffs. And JD, before we go to this, I do want to go to a quick picture because if this doesn’t tell you that the Chiefs are spiraling and just out of control, I don’t know what will because in Kansas City, it seems like they’re a little, you know, a little bit in the panic mode right now. And, you know, things are getting a little off. Things are getting a little weird when you have your head coach saying things like this. Andy Reid spoke to the media and I promise you this is not a fake quote. We’re not getting ball sacked. This isn’t a cintel situation. Um this is exactly what Andy Reid had to say in regards to the Chiefs offense. We’re going to try to tickle your tonsils on every play every game. I’m going to repeat that. We’re gonna try to tickle your tonsils on every play in every game. I mean, I I think in in some states this might be considered illegal. This might this would probably get you kicked out of your frat. I mean, this tickle your tonsils. What I I think this is a maybe like an old adage. I I don’t know if he, you know, misspoke, said kind of mixed up his cliches together. I mean, I for one, producer Sam, have you ever heard tickle your tonsils in a in a nonsexual way? No. No. Yeah. He said, unless we’re talking about surgery, I have not heard tickle your tonsils. And uh you know Andy Reid probably the best NFL coach of all time up there with Bill Bichc maybe recently surpassing Bill Bich with his success with the Chiefs. But I mean you know things are getting a little wacky when he’s talking about tickling consoles. Yeah, things are getting a little weird.
