[Kurz] Another small bit of news: Don’t expect the Flyers to immediately recall Alex Bump. Assume that Nikita Grebenkin will get a chance now in the top nine (he’s been waiting for that chance, frankly). Also probably means that they’ll recall a more vet-type forward from the Phantoms.

  1. I don’t mind this

We’ve seen what has happened when we staple a young guy to the 4th line with DLo and Hathaway

I’d rather Bump continue to develop in the AHL.

Excited that Grebenkin gets a shot in the top 9, makes the Laughton deal look even better by the minute

  2. I mean, this makes sense. No sense in calling up a prospect if he’s only gonna play 10 mins a night

  3. This is the right call.

Rebuilding teams who want to make the playoffs need to do so while rebuilding.

Bump, Barkey and co. are better in the A.

We can revisit nearer to the deadline.

  4. I don’t think playing any of our young prospects on the 4th line makes sense, unless our expectations for them is truly to be a 4th line guy.

So, as much as I’d like to see Bump, I’d rather wait until he could also get some top-9 time.

  5. Grebby should be the one to get middle 6 minutes but also the 4th line has been ass. I don’t think it will be Bump to play the 4th line but someone should be called up to get a chance on the 4th line.

  6. I would hope to see Grebenkin get a chance in the top 9 and have them call up that guy Grundstrom to actually play on the 4th line instead of seeing both Hathaway and Dlo in the lineup every night.

Not sure how we got this guy and how he ended up on the phantoms but he seems like an nhler and probably better than both Hathaway and Dlo at this stage in their careers.

This would also benefit Barkey and bump by increasing their roles on the phantoms.

Sucks to see forester hurt but there’s positives for a developing system

  7. I’m fine with this. Grebenkin has been good in a smaller role and beat Bump out. Let him get the shot.

  8. Totally get it and the call up should be a 4th line type vet. But what if Grebsy scores a point a game while Foerster is out. A nice problem to have, so what does that do, if anything, to Briere’s master plan (as far as the surplus of wingers and Flyers need for a centre or D in a package)?
I haven’t read anything specifically about Foerster and whether the injury has anything to do with his previous injuries to his elbow or shoulder. Anyone know anything about that. Teams are so tight lipped but they could at least say as much.

  9. I can see that and honestly it makes sense. Bump is not getting hurt being a big minutes guy in LHV. There’s no rush and grebenkin needs minutes to see what he’s got

  10. Not vets but I wouldn’t mind Kaplan or Dorwart get some 4th line minutes….I think Bump is good enough he needs to be in top 9 in nhl or top 6 ahl, doesnt help him much being on 4th line when we want him to have a scoring touch

But Kaplan/Dorwart don’t have as high of a ceiling so might as well try them on 4th line…pretty sure kaplan is atleast big and responsible
