  1. Losing against the Spurs (or literally any winning team) not unexpected but I can’t say I expected getting bodied by Luke Kornet all game to be why lol

  2. I’m not even a Grizzlies fan, but I’ve been watching because I have Edey on my fantasy team. It’s honestly so frustrating to watch at times. How hard is it to just throw the ball to him in the post? That little jump hook of his is literally free points anytime he wants. If the team did a better job of making sure he touched the ball every possession, you guys would be very dangerous.

  3. annihilate jock landale i hate jock landale i will never stop hating jock landale fuck you if you like jock landale

  4. The more games I watch where 1 of the stars comes up short while the other 1 is in street clothes (like always), the less patient I get with this “core”.

Edey with another good game, Wells’ scoring is back but Cedric unfortunately is in a slump now.

Edey has been the best player on the team, and as much as I love what he’s done so far. Alot of that is an indictment on Ja and Jaren

Edit: I’m not worried about Ced, just speaking on what happened.

  5. I’m not even trolling but until Iisalo can win a game against a team with a winning record, I won’t be a believer.

He doesn’t have a good feel for in-game decisions. This is the NBA, not some garbage European league. Play your players or get fired.

  6. Harrison Barnes killing the Grizz in consecutive games is something. De’Aaron Fox is too good.

Sometimes these losses happen, I guess.

  7. refs were bad but that was winnable we fucked up. Good teams are able to pull out wins with horrid refs

  8. At some point I feel like Isalo has to just bite the bullet and play Edey 35+ min a game. Every time he goes out the opposing team turn into sharks that smell blood in the water.

  9. It’s been about four straight games where we give up crazy runs when he does the hockey subs. If you’ve got a dominant front court duo why take them out at the same time? Santi and Jock are not an nba level frontcourt. But any combo of Edey + Jock or Santi or Jaren + Jock and Santi is serviceable.

  10. Pretty funny that of all of the centers Edey has destroyed in the last week that Kornet is the one to play him the best.

Lot to say about the refs obviously. Game was still easily winnable. JJJ stink fest was due after a couple good games, hard to be optimistic about that dude at this point tbh.

Horrible late game substitution patterns seem like they will always haunt this team. A guy in the game thread called it and got downvoted into oblivion lol.

Facts are, Spurs played their best 2 guys on the court more minutes.

  11. That one stings cause of how winnable it was.

Sick of watching Edey get clobbered with no calls.

Think Jaren needs to sit for a game or two and see if can settle himself down. Absolutely idiotic, clear and obvious, fouls almost every time he’s in the game.

Nice game from Jaylen and cam. Edey played well too, If a little conservative because of his fouls.

  12. If the game is close and the other team has an all-star pg, closing out the game is going to very difficult. Have to build a lead without a normal rotation pg of your own to steady the game in the clutch and set the table.

I’m sure there will be plenty of overreactions specifically to this game and there were some rough performances, but that was legit the worst whistle the Grizz have had so far this season. Hopefully we don’t see another ref performance like that again.

  13. the big sub out off the run we went on is one of the worst iisalo decisions all year. i cannot wrap my head around it.

jaren simply cannot be this inconsistent. there is a lot to work with here. he is going to be tanking a lot of hate (justifiably) but if you look at the box score a lot of guys had really really invisible nights (santi).

we had this game in a commanding position and threw it away because guys were risking fouling out. for what it’s worth, with even a diminished ja (i still don’t buy he could be that much worse than he was in april, where he was GREAT btw) we should win a lot of these games.

i’m not gonna lie… if i were kleiman, i would be making calls about lauri. jaren + picks could make it attractive

  14. Its lowkey crazy how amazing Ja and Jaren are game wise, but just manage to be invisible or detrimental so often. I wish either of them had as much of a winning attitude as Fox or Ant.

  15. There’s a way to play with aggressiveness without fouling, Jaren. I promise you. There’s 300+ other players in the league that have figured out how to various degrees.

Yes the whistle sucks. It’s sucked for 7 years. At this point it’s your fault for not adapting.

  16. I got downvoted yesterday for saying Edey needed 35 minutes. I know he was in foul trouble, but I will point this out anytime this happens this year.

  17. I love being in basketball purgatory and I also love how fairly this game was ref’d AND I love that we have NOT overpaid our $240 mil dollar player who deserves every penny

  18. Lost in all the perfectly valid criticism of the officiating and rotations is the fact that the Grizzlies committed 15 turnovers to the Spurs 5.

Jaren had as many turnovers than the entire Spurs team. Between him and KCP, they had 9.

Edit: never mind, Spurs had 6. Jaren’s in the clear

  19. People who bitch about Iisalo – did we watch the same game?

Jaren did dumb fouls as usual and played himself out of a rhythm.
Edey got an unfavorable whistle and had to sit at key moments.

Where does the blame on Iisalo come from? I constantly see “hockey subs” bullshit complaints.

Please point out in rational, fact driven examples where Iisalo lost this game. I beg you.

  20. * Zach Edey’s made massive improvements but learning how to win games in the 4th quarter against good teams takes experience no matter the talent level. He was still a +6 in a 7-point loss, but the next step is playing well in winning time.
    * Ced’s falloff is brutal. I believe he’ll become a star but right now his handle isn’t tight enough and his shot is far off.
    * I don’t know how Jock Landale is still on the team.
    * JJJ has to be better.

  21. Couldnt watch tonight, but checked in like 5 minutes before the end and we were up-

What the hell went so wrong

  22. JJJ needs to come off the bench until he learns to play defense. Too many times he just camps in the paint, which leaves too much space to close out on his guy (Barnes). Barnes was 58% from 3s. Unreal.

  23. Gonna be some overreactions and negative attitudes in here, obviously, but I’ll take a 3-1 road trip. Grizzlies are improving game after game as a whole, just gotta keep stringing them together until we get some healthy bodies back. It’s Dec. 2, way too early to be crashing out about losses.

  24. A lifelong fan, I loved the JJJ pick in 2018. And I’ve really like him as a player his whole career here. However, he’s been absolutely putrid for 90% of this season. Like, pisses me off bad. He’s clearly a 3rd option (maybe 2nd option) and he doesn’t rise in the playoffs.

At what point do they explore his trade value?

  25. I need Coward to go on a camping trip with Jaylen and Cam to see if they can rub off on him. Feels like they’re trending in opposite directions right now.

  26. **A POSTGAME STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS**

**• Players with massive contracts need to play like it**

There was a thread today posing the question *”Did we trade the wrong guy?”* It was about Des’ 37-point performance the other night. The point I made in that thread is that Des has a mandate to play up to the massive trade package that the Magic sent to the Grizzlies. He has a responsibility to the organization and the fans to play like a guy who was worth two players and a bunch of firsts.

Jaren needs to play like a 240-million-dollar player.

Just straight up. Anything less than that is unacceptable. It’s not just that he almost fouled out because Edey also amassed 5 fouls. The difference is that Edey’s game never really changed and his minutes really didn’t even change. Jaren’s fouls 100% impacted his aggressiveness, his contests, his physicality on offense. Everything. If you’re whole game is predicated on those things then you have a responsibility to stay out of foul trouble. Period. 8 years in and he hasn’t learned how to do it.

**• Cam Spencer is such a fucking dawg**

Just play him more. The problem with his passes to Jock Landale aren’t Cam’s problem, it’s that Jock isn’t Edey because Edey would catch those passes. He played a great game and I wish he could have played out the whole 4th quarter.

    **• Jitty for the City**

My dude stays ready, yall. At all times. For whatever asked. People want to say he’s got a terrible contract but for a player who will do whatever you ask him to do *and get it done* even if it’s the shit work, who never gives up on plays, who will play defense and rebound and score and facilitate and take on the hardest assignments… we have him at a bargain. There’s no 11th man in the league as good as John Konchar.

**• When will we ever get a healthy point guard?**

These two losses to the Spurs were a function of not having a point guard. Ja, SPjr, Ty… any one of those guys could have provided a steady head in crunch times where Vince couldn’t do it. I don’t blame Vince, he’s literally played above and beyond his potential. Here’s hoping that Kobe What’s-his-Ass doesn’t get another tenday, because that would mean we’re getting one of our point guards back in less than two weeks (*whether he turns out to be our worst point guard depends entirely on his mood*).

**• Zach Edey didn’t get enough touches, if you ask me.**

The man is just a monster. The only way to stop him is to have the refs on your side… which the Spurs did. So great watching him have such a banger of a year. This loss wasn’t his fault; even with the 5 fouls he played a terrific game and gave it all he had.

**• Turns out Cedric Coward is human**

The three point chucking just needs to stop. His midrange game has the most potential and he’s content to fling threes all game. Coward Stans would have had us all believe he was going to be 50% from three for the entire year because of the month of October. But preseason showed us that he is fully capable of missing every three pointer he takes.

He has made exactly **TWO** of his last 23 three point attempts. It is a good thing that he believes in his shot, what bothers me is that 4 of todays 5 attempts were just bad shots. Fake the shot, dribble to the elbow and take the middy. And don’t hang and wait for Kornet to come block it.
