Chris Haynes:

BREAKING: Los Angeles Clippers are sending home future Hall of Fame point guard Chris Paul in a bizarre severing ties move, league sources tell me.

Chris Paul wanted to play his final season with Clippers. The team is off to a disappointing 5-16 start and now removes one of the few leaders in the locker room.

Los Angeles Clippers’ statement on cutting ties with Chris Paul:

“We are parting ways with Chris and he will no longer be with the team. We will work with him on the next step of his career. Chris is a legendary Clipper who has had a historic career. I want to make one thing very clear. No one is blaming Chris for our underperformance. I accept responsibility for the record we have right now. There are a lot of reasons why we’ve struggled. We’re grateful for the impact Chris has made on the franchise.”

  1. CP3 is going to end up on a contender before the end of the year. Wonder if he ends up in OKC.

  2. Worded in such a weird way. Sucks if his career ends like this. Disrespectful to cut one of your franchise goats.

  3. Announcing a retirement tour and almost immediately being sent home by an organization you are almost undoubtedly the GOAT of. Somehow that perfectly encapsulates the narratives around Chris Paul’s career. A player who has always deserved better.

  4. reminder that these guys were media dark horses to WIN THE TITLE like 8 months ago

  5. Yeah Clippers. I’m sure sending CP3 “home” will change things and a send message to the rest as he was CLEARLY the issue right? Couldn’t even let him ride for an already putrid season?? Pathetic franchise really….🤡🤦‍♂️

  6. I mean he’s very washed, but sheesh. The clippers are a trainwreck and you do this to your franchise’s best player ever?

  7. Breh, the clippers have no sense of PR.

It’s not like having Chris Paul on the books is somehow the problem

  8. This is so fucked up. Doing this to your franchise GOAT on his retirement tour. Classless dogshit organization will always stay poverty.

  9. If the Suns didn’t have already a pretty packed rotation where even two-ways like Bouyea are really contributing, I’d want him to go retire in Phoenix so bad

  10. “Chris Paul’s aspirations were not in line with our organization” -Steve Balmer

  11. what.

of all the dumb things the Clippers have done lately, this is the one that i understand the least. you’re cutting ties with a future Hall of Famer, arguably the most identifiable face of your franchise this century… *in the middle of his retirement tour???* he’s literally on a minimum, you’re not even meaningfully saving money

  12. bro he’s like your franchise goat and he’s on his retirement tour

literally every star vet player or young dude is going to remember this type of thing for sure

CP3 is a very popular player

this is one of those like “i’m pretty sure you can’t do that” moments

that’s just fucking bizarre honestly, why would you do it? CP3 isn’t even a problem, you married yourself to kawhi and his dumb ass controversy and injury history is helping sink the team

unless there’s some crazy scandal tha is about to come out, i can’t believe they’d do that

bro is also seemingly close friends with one of the guys with a popular player agency as well

why on earth would you dump him to the curb like that, i kinda refuse to believe something crazy didn’t happen behind the scenes, nothing else makes sense lol

  13. What’s the rush that they have to do it while they’re out of town in the middle of the night? If they needed a player, don’t they have Beal’s open spot?

  14. That’s legit disrespectful to one of the best players ever in their franchise who’s on a retirement tour

Not surprising because they did it to Blake too, and shows why they are such an unserious franchise

  15. Wow, clippers, that’s really low. Cp3 was responsible for bringing winning culture to the franchise. Least you could have done is let him retire with dignity

  16. I don’t love Chris Paul but I guess the Clippers are still the same franchise that traded away Blake Griffin 1 year after calling him a “Clipper for Life” during one of the funniest free agent pitches ever

  17. So they convinced Blake to re-sign and then exiled his ass to the Pistons a few months later. Then the kick CP3 to the curb mid retirement tour. The two best/most impactful players in your franchise history they just fuck over.

I know LA weather is nice, but why the hell would anyone sign with this clownfuck excuse for a franchise?

  18. This is actual scumbag behavior imo. You know man is retiring. Has been ever present in this league for YEARS. Gave your team years of service and you just cut him off. SMH.

  19. Between the Kawhi Leonard Aspire scandal and never playing due to injury, a 5-16 record right now in a loaded West with a very old roster, not owning any of their own draft picks until 2030 so no incentive to tank, all while having to fill a brand new billion dollar arena that Steve Ballmer built on his own Microsoft dime that he thought was going to have Kawhi/Paul George bring titles. This is just the cherry on top of a colossal organization failure.

Shit is bleak. We are back 25 years in the past: Lakers are dominant again and the Clips are the laughing stock of the league.

  20. Him goin to OKC for a ring would be a hilarious extension of the pg13/shai trade + a poetic ending to cp3’s career
