Hall of Fame reveals committee to consider Bonds, Clemens

  1. This sub is generally peaceful and gets along well, but one topic that has caused derision is Bonds and the HoF. Can’t wait.

  2. PED’s have been around sports since people started making drugs that could help performances.

The steroids were just a step in that direction. In the 60’s and 70’s they were taking speed to get through the long seasons that professional sports requires.

Bonds, Clemens and those guys were the standard for their time, they were not the only users, and should be judged based on their peers at the time.

It’s total crap that the sports writers are all up in arms about this and we can’t let them into the Hof, they were in the locker rooms, they conducted the interviews, they knew what was going on the entire time and simply turned their heads.

At the end of the day I like to watch these athletes do things that I can only dream about playing games that we all played as children. I don’t care what they do with their bodies, that’s a choice we all have to make.

  3. Like they did last time, when they fell below the baseline marker? Sorry, but I don’t see their minds changing until the current crop of players, who only looked up to Bonds and Clemens and never had to face them while clean or just have seniority over them, gets old enough to be on a VC – which, given the general time period of the ones on this VC, is going to be three whole decades.

  4. 75% is going to be hard to get to with 8 players being considered and 16 voters doing the considering, and they only get to vote for 3 candidates. That would take 12 voters out of the 16, and all 8 players have a good case. I won’t be surprised if no player collects 12 of the required 12 votes. In fact, I predict just that.

  5. I hope baseball never inducts PEDs into the Hof. It’s a special value that baseball has, different from other sports. I’m a boxing fan, and I was disappointed to see so many cheaters in its Hall of Fame.

  6. Ortiz, Pudge, and Piazza are in so at this point, Clemens and Bonds served their time.

  7. Crucify me but as Dodger fan. I believe bonds deserves to be in the hall of fame. We’re not gonna see 700 hrs in a while

  9. Baseball needs to have a designated juicer for each time. Would make the game that much exciting.

  10. I want Clemens out for character reasons. He can go sit with Curt Schilling and imagine what his legacy might have been if he hadn’t been a massive and abusive prick.

I honestly don’t know where I sit on the steroids people (I’m probably ok with a case by case assessment), but I will note that there are already people like Ortiz and Selig in there.

  11. They were both HOF worthy before any allegations of PEDs. It’s an embarrassment that they aren’t in the hall.

  12. Bonds tainted the game forever. They shouldn’t be putting him in the hall of fame. They should be retracting his records.Aaron judge should have the record for most home runs in a season.
