“They’re Destroying Everybody!” – Rich Eisen on Drake Maye & Patriots Improving to an NFL-Best 11-2
When a New York football team has its season fall completely apart and their dynamic young quarterback who comes back from concussion protocol, gets blown up, you know, on a hit that’s completely legal. And then comes out afterwards and basically says, “Yeah, you know, like we’re not playing soccer. That’s the way I played my entire life.” And then their third overall pick chosen before Jackson Dart in Abdul Carter is suspended for a quarter, you know, benched for a quarter because he’s late again. Second time that’s happened. And then their replacement place kicker, you know, stubs his toe and purposefully doesn’t swing the leg cuz the ball’s not perfectly enough for for I mean, we’re going to lead with that. Even if there’s another team that’s just won its 11th game to be the first 11 win team of the season. Even when that team is an unexpected first to 11 and is a team that appears to be on the path to being in your face win after win after win after win because they are better coach than you and they have a better quarterback than you and they have a better team mentality than you and they are better situationally than you and their P’s and Q’s are completely with cross te’s and dotted eyes into Patriots. And sure enough, you know, we are at the point where this team is 100% making the playoffs. The only question is how many home games could they have? And I know that’s potentially sacrilegious because there’s the Bills just two behind them. Um, but while the Patriots are on a by-week, the Bills have Joe Burrow in their house to try and keep pace. And if they lose that game to Joe Burrow in Western New York, and I don’t need to go too deep here because I out of respect of Jim Kelly showing up in about 9 minutes time, um I’ll say it here, it’s happened. Then the Patriots would have the opportunity as Cooper, the diehard Patriot fan of my household, turned to me with a couple minutes to go and says, “Dad, cuz he’s good at math, if the Bills lose while we’re on a buy and we beat the Bills, we clinch the division, don’t we?” And I’m like, “Yeah, you do. you do with a home game and this team destroying everyone in front of them, including the Bills in win two of their current 10ame win streak. And so that’s the question is how far can they go? And when I I saw the Ravens winning five in a row and and certainly before the season Ravens um taking on the Patriots in week 16 at home, that’s entirely winnable game. And as a matter of fact, the Patriots should win it playing the way that they are with the quarterback playing the way he is. Drake May looks more healthy and spry than Lamar Jackson. I said those words. You tell me. Use the eye test. It’s that simple. Drake May had a passer rating of 126 last night. That’s 10 straight games with a passer rating of 80 or more in a win. Last guy and only other guy to do that on planet Earth is named Dan Marino in 1984 and he won the MVP. And that’s two better than the aforementioned Lamar Jackson who did it in 2019 and he won the MVP. Is this kid the MVP of the National Football League? Drake May in season two. may just be coached by a potential coach of the year. He’s got Ben Johnson on his heels, Mike Frabel. And the Giants, they have that pass rush last night. He was just basically like shrugging it off cuz he got the run game and he’s got the blitz beers that he that get open. Pop Douglas, Booty, Kyle Williams. My goodness. I didn’t even mention Diggs. I just did. Hunter Henry, they’re all killing it. May versus the Blitz last night was nine of 12 for 148 yards and two touchdowns and a pass rating of 155.6. It was better if you didn’t blitz him. The kid’s barely shaving. It’s unbelievable. It’s the truth. And then and then they hit you in the mouth on special teams. This guy Marcus Jones is Dion 2.0. He’s returning interceptions and he’s returning punts. Honestly, the thing that was really weird last night is your place kicker actually missed a missed missed something. He’s been great. Also rookie. He’s been Viditary 2.0. Also a rookie. This you stop asking if this team’s for real. The only question is is who’s coming into their house and what’s going to happen then in the crucible of a winner go home game. And if you think the coach and quarterback and offensive coordinator is going to be spooked by it, you might have another thing coming for real. This is real talk. They’re on a buy mostly healthy coming back taking on a Bills team that should be an underdog in in New England. And the same thing maybe with them going to Baltimore the week later. This is real stuff. 100% happening. I’m not stuttering here. I could give you a bunch of other stats. 200 pass yards and 200 two passing touchdown at a completion percentage of 75% or better. May just came up with his sixth such game. Yeah, he has had 200 yards in every game this season. Matt Ryan did it six times in 2016. You just tied him. Brady did it eight times in the season. They didn’t lose a game in the regular season. 2007. Both of them won MVPs that year. The Patriots have won four games by 18 or more points. They’re killing everybody. And this is a team that couldn’t tie their own shoes. Oh, they were arguably the worst team over the last two years going into week four. Also, maybe it was a rough stretch. It was a rough beginning. Fumbled away a game against the Steelers. They lost to the Raiders at home. They lost their first two at home. Yep. Now look at them for real. Uh and you’re overlooking them because this that the other thing at your peril. Real talk. Yeah. I don’t know. And the odds the the Bills and them have the same Super Bowl odds. Because some people can’t quit the Bills in the same way some people like me can’t quit, you know, the Chiefs. And Vanpel said it again for the Bengals. Can’t forget you can’t. Oh, I will not quit on the Bengals. Oh, no, no, no, no, no. It is a giving Tuesday and I’m still giving that one. Like, who’s playing better right now? New England or the Eagles? Eagles have better but again, it’s just again people are still looking at at at last year, too, even though we’re now into December. Hey, you made it all the way to the end. Thanks for that. It looks like this whole time it was Josh McDaniels who's been the secret ingredient to the Pats winnings…
Patriots are one and done in the playoffs.
Other than the Bills and Bucs, the Pats haven't beaten anyone good, and those games were won by 3 and 5 points respectively. The NFL is invariably 6 contenders and 26 pretenders, The Pats are admittedly one of the six. Whether they're anything more than that remains to be seen. Their next game may tell much, but the Bills coach should probably be fired for their lacklustre performances,
Drake Maye seems to really shine in these prime time games ….
Past fan here. They're beating, lately, bad record teams. All good and nothing wrong with that!
It all proves how bad was coaching last year
Why don't the people on this show understand strength of schedule and quality of opponent? The Patriots are beating 2 and 3 win teams!!! They beat an inconsistent Bills team that has been up and down all year and an injury-riddled Bucs team. Patting yourself on the back for beating another 2-win team is nothing to brag about. They've had the easiest schedule I've seen in a long time….they've beaten the Dolphins, Jets, Saints, Falcons, Browns, Titans, Bengals, and now the Giants. 8 wins of their 11 have come against teams that (currently) have 24 wins between them. That means they are beating teams that have, on average, 3 wins currently so far this year. This is only going to hurt them in the playoffs. Beating teams that offer little to no resistance because they suck are not the teams you'll face in the playoffs, and it will be a shock to their team and system when they play a team that really is good. And just because Detroit nearly lost to the 2-win Giants doesn't make the Giants a good team….THEY HAVE 2 WINS THIS SEASON!!!!!…THEY SUCK!!!!!…ALSO, DETROIT IS SLIPPING and might not make the playoffs.
did CB write that head line? O.R.!
I'm a Bill's fan but Maye is my MVP thus far and the team looks GREAT!
I may be wrong but I think even if the Bills win vs the bengals, the pats can win the division if they beat Buffalo head to head
Looking at the Patriots this century, the consistent factor is the owner. Championships are his north star and he does what he needs to to get them
We don’t need them to lose to the Bengals. If Patriots just beat the Bills they clinch. They will have 12 wins and the bills will have 5 losses. We would own the tie breaker for head to head.
That deep ball to Williams was a work of art
Ahh Rich , ya make me smile. 🙂
Rams want revenge on Patriots after two Superbowl losses to them. Let's get her done 😮
COOPER My man.
Vrable, McDaniels, Drake Maye. This could seriously be something.
5:54 – saying a quarterback has thrown for at least 200 yards, without any other qualifiers REALLY isnt something to brag over
Maye is an athlete – period
6:45 Reminiscent of the Pats first SB winning season in 2001. They started 1-3 then went 10-2 the rest of the way.
Rich has seen the light!
I love it Rich….your son is smarter than you🤣🏈🏈🏈🤙🏻
To be fair, giants have turf toe
Let me tell you that it's a lot more than the headcoach that makes a team. For a example, look at the Ravens O-line, they have regressed under Warhop. Its plan a simple, they were much better last year. Even though he was the O-line coach last year, Joe D had them though all of training camp, up until the preseason. That was his O-line last year.
"AT. YOUR. PERIL. Real talk"
If the bills lost while the pats are on a bye it's already clinched for the pats before the pats bills game
The schedule for patriots is easy. Pls stop .
FIRE TOMLIN.
Josh McDaniels might go down as the best offensive coordinator ever
They've had the easiest schedule in the league
Truth…
After a few bad years, they're back to winning, and meanwhile … anything new Jets, Cleveland, Raiders, Miami etc 😂?!
Even if the Bills beat the Bengals, if the Patriots beat the Bills, then the Patriots will have 12 wins and the Bill will have 5 losses. The Patriots will have the tiebreaker if they both finish at 12-5.
Pats will be -6 in buffalo game
The Bills don't have to lose, if the Patriots beat the Bills period, Bills would have 5 loses.. The worst the Patriots could finish 5 loses but would own the tiebreaker for the division
glasses on and off is too good
NYC sports fan Rich really trying to jinx the Patriots with stuff like this.
Maye the force be with you.❤
Somebody is busy raising a new monster QB up in New England.
EVEN THOUGH HE'S A JETS FAN… I LIKE RICH😊
Aw Rich, you're so sweet.
Not gonna lie…that’d be wild if the bengals slip into the playoffs just off of Joe burrow coming back…it’s definitely not far fetched with the way this nfl season has been going😂
I'll play devil's advocate here. The Pats have 2 good wins so far, @Bills and @Bucs. Other than that they've mostly played cupcakes all season long. Jets 3-9, Raiders 2-10, Titans 1-11, Saints 2-10… The combined record of the teams they played so far is 54-104, compare that to the Jaguars (72-74) or the Bills (69-77), for example. Wouldn't be surprised if the Patriots are one and done in the playoffs.
Rich, I listen to you every day. And I truly appreciate your open-minedness and have much respect for your take here. NY raised and UM alum, and you had no prejudices in your commentary.
Being a devils advocate, and living through the Brady epic, I feel like this is 2.0. It’s insane to think that could ever remotely happen again. I think it’s actually (hate that word, but it’s original intention is placed here) coming.
But, but, the soap opera is more fun! Of course you're leading with it 😊
Yeah but look at who they played…perspective…still have to win them but c’mon
As a Patriots fan, I have to say that their schedule this season was fairly soft. The real test to see how good the Patriots are will come in the playoffs when they’ll play against much better teams. Go Patriots!
Patriots most impressive win at tampa bay ,denver most impressive win at philadelphia 😂
Rich looks unwell…
Patriots better not go one and done in the playoffs.
