[Music] In today’s NBA gameplay, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers gear up for a highstakes showdown with Brandon Ingram and the surging Toronto Raptors. The Lakers hold the second spot in the West while the Raptors trail close behind at fourth in the East. Can Los Angeles take command early, or will Toronto push this one down to the wire? Watch the full video to see how it all unfolds. Aggressive [Music] [Music] attacking in transition. Well, you’ve got to play to your strips, right? But really, the league in general is looking for early offense. These teams no different. Now let’s check out our starters for the Los Angeles Lakers. We’ve got Hatchima. Luca Donic out there with Austin Reed. Then there’s Eightton. And it’s LeBron in at the four slot. Now here’s LeBron after RJ Barrett’s miss. The three for Dunic. It’s rebounded by Scotty Barnes. And Barnes has got the ball here for the Raptors. Here’s Quickly. The shot goes in. First shot, first master. Don’t let Quickley’s build fool you. He can compete inside against some tough opponents. Reeves with it. [Music] LeBron James on the wing. Blanketed by the D. Fights to the rim for the layup. What about the courage right there? Sacrificing his body to get the high percentage attempt at the rim. Here’s quickly Barnes outside Toronto working the ball around now for three. Ingram that doesn’t go and he’s 0 of one from the field. Here are the Lakers with a short break in the action. Gives us a chance now. Okay. the assist. Aiden up there just to drop it in and take some of that rim with him. And so here’s Toronto. First quarter of play with about a minute and a half gone. Bird sets the pick for Ingram. Shoots over Himura. A new 14 for the Raptors. Barnes passes to Barrett. Just five to shoot. Another shot and they call the foul. So a chance at the line for one more coming up. Now that’s aggressive play from RJ Barrett. And that’s how you finish even through contact. First personal and this is his first trip to the line tonight. at the line for Toronto. RJ Barrett shooting one. One shot. And that one falls for Barrett. Lakers have gone two or three here to start out the game. And the defense of this Raptors team, Craig, they are built to switch. And it’s no accident with their roster construction. They like having wings that can guard all five positions. Makes defending a much easier prospect. When LeBron’s shooting like that, nothing you can do defensively. Here’s Toronto now trailing by two. [Music] Dunage with the block and pushing it up. Here’s Los Angeles. Here’s Aon. Reeves right side. Aimura kicks to Donic and two free throws coming up. unable to get that one to go with all the content. Greg, you think about oversized point guards and the gold standard has always been Magic Johnson. Now you look at Luca Donic and he’s certainly big for that position. Definitely some positive similarities, right? But the big difference is one of those guys has five rings and that’s not a knock on Donic. This is a team sport, but Magic’s ability to affect winning was right there with another MJ, Michael Jordan. [Applause] and he knocks down the first one. And you can never really count out these Los Angeles Lakers, Greg, can you? No, I I I really don’t think you can. They they battle out of the playin tournament. They overcome obstacles and they have tremendous willpower. [Music] [Applause] And he makes the first but misses the second. Eyepopping talent from Don Ju. We don’t see many players with his size and skill set. And Reeves has got the ball here for the Los Angeles Lakers. It’s a three-point game and throws it down. Well, a finish by Aton using those long arms to snatch that pass up high. And here in the first about 3 minutes in and DOVIC calls timeout. He wants to talk to his guys and doesn’t like how things are going right now. The timeout before the timeout here maybe just to cut off the momentum and have a chitchat with the team to settle down. [Applause] And in this first quarter, about three minutes played. Burle. The pass to Ingram from outside the arc. Frames the three-pointer. Getting more and more consistent, which means more dangerous as Brandon Ingram knocks down three. Donich passes to Hatchim. [Music] Back to Donic. Epic counts. Creating space. Donic will move defenders around. Raptors trail by four. Ingram kicks to Purle. Quickly against Donic. Pass to Purle and stolen by Eaton. And here comes the break. It’s tipped. Stolen by Quickley. And Ingram with a clear path to the basket and slam dunk by Ingram. See how Quickly just snatches the ball and then sends it away on the break. Los Angeles has drawn one or two from long range in the first quarter. The three for Dunic. Rebound by the Raptors. Barnes has got four rebounds in this game. Pass to Barrett. Now here’s Ingram. shoots over Hatchim and Ingram the bucket on the assist by Barrett. Ingram’s got seven. Ingram just letting it rip right now on the offensive end. Here’s Donic. [Music] Reeves outside [Music] with a screen on Barrett. Reeves the pass to Aiden. And here’s James outside. gets the three-pointer to fall. James has got his third bucket of the night. Showing some range. LeBron more than capable of hurting you from deep. A three from Quickley. It’s the three-point bomb. And I like the back and forth here showing confidence from range. It seems like they’re going to find out who can make the deepest threes. Right now it’s a shootout. And he gets it to go. Donic has got his second bucket of the night. Yeah. Here’s a list of things I don’t want to do. And right at the top is guard that guy. Ingram attacking and contact on the shot. So, he’ll be shooting free throws here. There aren’t too many players with a skill set as diverse as Brandon Ingrams. Yes, Kevin, you got to appreciate the tools that Brandon Ingram possesses. That comes with a lot of hard work. But this guy can score over smaller defenders. He’s creative enough to draw contact against bigger guys and use that quickness. He’s always been a scorer, but his playmaking ability over the past couple seasons, that’s something that’s growing and is giving them a chance to be very competitive. Ingram just continuing to impress and taking strides in the right direction. Just a tremendous amount of offensive weaponry. Boston. Both free throws good for Ingram. Lakers have gotten seven of their first 10 attempts to fall so far. Excellent pace to their offense. And it’s Donic missing. Toronto’s gone two or three from deep so far in this game. Barrett the pass to Purle. Barnes outside bangs home the trifecta. Well, they’re trying to take command of this game, but it’s been competitive so far. Yeah, everybody trying to get away from one another and the threads are keeping them close. This has been highly competitive. And here is Aon following the three-pointer by Scotty Bunk. Here’s Donic and he overshot that one missing after leading by three. Barrett the pass to Quickley. [Music] Purle against Aton. Dage with the steal and Donic with a clear path to the hoop and Aton throws it down. Yeah, Aton out there playing poker with the flush. And the Raptors with the ball outside. Barrett crops in the layup for two. Barrett’s got five now. Yeah, another nice bucket down low. They’ve really been able to work the ball into the post effectively here so far. Lakers trail by three. Reeves outside. Donic with a screen for Reeves. Back to Donic. There it is. His third basket. He’s taken seven shots to get those three. And inside. Luca knows the bucket is there, so he is willing to fight for it. And the Raptors with the ball. Now quickly he’s got five pass to Ingram. [Applause] Banked in off the glass. He’s got 11. Ingram and that body and that maturation showing off in plays just like that. And JJ Reick calls timeout here. He’s made the decision he wants to huddle up with his guys. And Los Angeles will go for a different look here. Hayes, he’s checked in for DeAndre. James comes in for Hatchima. Vincent’s checked in for Austin Reeds. And Marcus Smart has subbed in for Donic. And here’s James. He’ll bring it up for Los Angeles. They trail by three. Now here’s Hayes guarded closely with the drive. Vincent misses. Toronto’s gone three or four on three-pointers in the first quarter. Doing well from long range. And the latest now from our sideline reporter, David Aldridge. David, it’s all yours. Take it away, Kevin. The Raptors are rebuilding with purpose. Coach Dark Oyakovich said, “We’re doing a good job at the start of this process, selecting the right people that care and are very committed to each other. That’s a good baseline to build on.” Evan, slowly the pieces are falling into place. David, you’re so right. He is great at developing those young players. LeBron could a monster down low. LeBron James, the rare package of skill, size, and athleticism. Here’s shed pass to Walter Barnes with it. 135 left to play in the first. Here’s the screen. Four on the clock. Connects from three-point range. Barnes has got his second bucket of the night. You can’t just stop when there’s a pick set up. Got to fight over it as a defender. That’s one that the coaches will watch tomorrow with that player. You hate to see him give up in that situation. Here’s Walter. Nothing on the board. Barnes looking around. Pass to Mamu Klesi. beat the shot clock, but it’s off the mark. He gets a lot of points right there at the rim, but the defense determined not to give up the easy deuce there. Shot didn’t fall, but that play worked well to get a good look at the basket. Yeah, an efficient offensive possession. They found the look that they wanted, just didn’t go in. Barnes can’t get it to go. Lakers trail by four. 6 seconds separate in the shot and game clocks and good that time. So good at reading the defenses and James anticipating when they overcommitted. [Applause] Here’s shed guarded by Smart to the inside Walter and the powerful one-handed slam. Punch counter punch yet to be played but they’re shooting it well from the three-point line. That’s got to be a welcome sight. Well, a lot of the players are doing a good job as well of scanning the interior part of the paint. All those inside looks, those are paying off. So, the Lakers five right now. Don Judge out there with Smart. Then it’s James. Then it’s Jackson Hayes. And it’s Lorabia in a power forward. Raptors with the lead. Here’s Dick. hasn’t made one yet. And the whistle blows. It’s going to be on Luca Donuch. That’s foul number two for him. First team down. Ingram outside. [Applause] Five on the clock. [Applause] And it’s Labradia with the rebound. We’ll have a hard time shaking that one off. Perfect position, plenty of space. Just clanked it. It feels like every season, Brett, we set a record for pace in the NBA. Why do you think that is? Well, I don’t know, Kevin, if it’s every team that’s seeking pace. Although in every coach’s press conference, you’ll hear about them talking about playing faster and wanting to get out in transition, but that’s where you take advantages of defenses most. Look, if you got a young team, open up the floodgates and let them run. Probably more success coming your way. Now, right now, Brandon Ingram is just taking command of the entire game. And here’s Smart. And it’s Manu Keshilli with the rebound. Pass to Walter. Back to Ingram. And now approaching two minutes of action here in the second quarter. That’s the sixth make from the field. He’s taken nine shots and missed but three. Brandon Ingram’s advantage when he’s down low like that still comes through in his length. Lakers trail by three. Down low. Here’s Smart. Good. And the assist goes to James. And they keep hammering away at him inside, forcing the ball into the paint. Two minutes now played in the second quarter. Pass to Ingram and he sinks that one in the back of the rim on the way in. Ingram’s got six here in this quarter. And here is Los Angeles now. Now here’s Smart. Here’s Hayes. Shoots a three. Knocks down the three ball. Hayes has got it all tied up now for the Lakers. Toronto’s gone a very strong four for five from three-point land in the ball game. Here’s Ingram. And again, it’s Toronto converting. Like to see that as Ingram hits a shot from the mid-range. It’s going to open some things up. Now here’s James. Dig defending the drive by James. And James throws it down. Oh, and he went for the two-hander on the slam using some muscle, some urgency from him there. Sure. The Raptors have gotten four of their first five shots to fall in the second quarter. Outstanding shooting. Here’s Walter and it’s Havia with the rebound. LA has gone one of two on three-pointers here in the second quarter so far. Outside Smart Pass to Hayes and here is James. Shot clock at five over Ingram and no good. They had a chance to take the lead there. Toronto shooting impressively throughout at 62%. Some nice ball movement here by the Raptors. Lets it go with a three. Good on the triple. Dicks got himself on the board with three there. And that is why this team has Brady Dick, a floor spacer coming into the league with an elite three-point shot. [Applause] to the middle. Picked off in midair. Now the Raptors moving it up. The fast break ends at the rim with a jam. Well, that’s why they’re in front. Aggressive play at both ends. Nicely done. And it’s Smart with the ball for the Los Angeles Lakers. It’s a five-point game and JJ Reed calls timeout here. He’s ready to talk things through with the team. It’s time for [Applause] substitution down the court. [Applause] [Music] James in the high post. Barnes on him. LeBron up top. 10 points for him. Some solid defense from Ingram. Toronto leading by five. Barnes dishes to Barrett quickly with a wideopen look up again. It’s rebounded by Donic. Los Angeles has gone four of eight tonight from three-point land. Shooting 50% on the three ball here. Here we go. One-on-one. The offensive rebound. Here’s Purle. And good work on the boards. And they pick up the second chance points. Purdles got the lead up to seven now for Toronto. [Music] Quickly against Donic. They need this. LeBron kicks to Donic. Yes. And it’s LeBron picking up the assist. Donic has got 10 points in the game. And Donic used to creating kind of a luxury for him to simply catch and shoot. Ingram outside. Purle with a screen on Himura. Six to shoot. Pass to Barrett to the paint. Here’s Purle. His shot is good. Making him a perfect two for two from the floor. That’s a good heads up play there from RJ. Lakers trail by six. [Music] outside. Here’s Reeves. Eight and a screen on Barrett. Reeves against Barrett. Just five on the clock. The tray. It’s rebounded by Scotty Barnes. Barnes has got his seventh rebound here tonight. And there’s the call on Jinx. That is his first foul of the game. You know what? Tried to step in and cut him off, but just didn’t get there quick enough. And looking at that replay again, just a big time block right there. And boy, did he get up quick to reject that shot. That’s as fundamental as defense gets. Grady Diggs checked in for Toronto. Smarts checked in for the Lakers. on defense, the Lakers. Barnes outside. And that’ll be two free throws coming up. Officials on the call with the foul. We love young Scotty Barnes. He can shoot, he can defend, and he can really pass. Bren, he seems like the ideal wing. There’s a lot of things there, Kevin, that are very good. And you don’t become an all-star at that position without those kind of abilities. But the responsibility of playing winning basketball consistently, let’s see how that plays out for Scotty moving forward. That one is off. The 2022 Rookie of the Year, Scotty Barnes, GA. He had a terrific rookie year as we know. His second year may have fallen off a little bit. Yeah, it was a bit stagnant for Scotty, but man, he had a monster third year making his first All-Star game. The playmaking of Barnes especially took a leap. And the second free throw good. Here’s LeBron. 10 points for him. Pass to Hatchima. Dick with the steel. Shoots over Himura. lands soft on the front of the rim and drops. Dicks got his second basket of the night. So much balance when Dicks in the air. Always able to square his chest and make a confident stroke. Smart kicks to Hatchima. Good. And Smart gets the assist. You know, maybe he’s not one of the elite sharpshooters, but even still, that’s not a shot that D could afford to give. Pass to Dick. Now Barnes, [Music] now Burle and there’s the call on DeAndre Eaton. That is his first foul of the game. Walter, he’s checked in for Dick. Coming onto the floor for your records. Number 14, Jack Hogy Walter. Reeves against Barrett inside. Here’s Purle. And the dump by Purle. R.J.’s movement right there did a great job of keeping the defense off balance. And he worked to create that opening. And so it’s Smart who brings up the ball for the Los Angeles Lakers. Trailing here by eight. Pass to Reeds and stolen by Barrett. They finished it off with a land. Got his third basket of the night right there. Unwilling to let up even for a moment. That’s his killer instinct. Just fanning the flames. He’s the guy that you want to go to right now trying to put this one away. Reeves outside. [Applause] Smart puts the pick in for Reeves. Now here’s James. There’s the triple. It’s rebounded by Barry. And even against defense as tight as that, you almost expect him to still bury those. Reeds outside over Barrett. That one’s good. And the Raptor lead is cut down now to just eight points with the basket from Reeds. Clearly defensive miscue there. If there’s not a body on him that’s sitting at the mid-range, that’s a defensive mistake. Here’s Quickley. Good work defensively by Smart. Los Angeles has gotten half their shots from three-point range to go down in the second quarter. Three of six from downtown. Pass to James from deep from range. LeBron is good. And LeBron continues to self dial himself. Look at him. He’s in a groove. There’s 117 left to play here in the second quarter. Outside Barrett active quickly. Barnes outside. Barnes sets a screen for Barrett. Shooting foul. As the whistle blows, he’ll shoot two free throws. Austin Reeves picks one up. Well, inside Barrett fighting twice as hard, working through that contact and trying to get a shot off. Two shots. Shooting two. The first free throw is good. And the Raptors making a change here. Dicks checked in. And so Barrett nails both of them. At this point, you might as well go ahead and chalk up the points when he’s at the free throw line. Pretty much automatic. Smart finds eight and Purle pulls it down quickly against Smart. to the inside. Purle. Oh, and the jam by Purle. Wow. And that sort of showmanship is just deflating right now to a team trying to get back into a game like this. Ouch. Greg, that is definitely an emphasis jam. A big apostrophe or exclamation point, maybe even a question mark. [Applause] Barnes against LeBron. Right winger. the pass to James. 5 seconds separating the shot and game clocks and it’s Barnes slamming it down. And unfortunately, we’ve seen a few too many of those. A lack of concentration, a turnover, and an easy bucket in transition. Lakers trail by 11. Reeves left side and it goes down two points. Reeves has got his second basket of the night. And really the smart thing would be to hold for the last shot. Yeah. Every second right now is valuable to you. That should be their strategy. [Music] Barnes outside over LeBron. And no luck with that time on the buzzer be. Lakers trail by nine. Barnes and Purle make up the inside pair. The guard set is quickly and Barrett and it’s Ingram in at the three. The small forward. It’s the five out there for the Raptors. Donic. It’s hauled in by the Raptors. Ingram outside on the wing. Barnes [Music] offensive rebound and it’s Ingram missing. Los Angeles has gone downtown 13 times in this game and they’re just over 50%. Seven of 13 on threes. Look, with the size and athleticism of LeBron James, it gives you more problems than the math book. And here are the Raptors now. They lead by seven. Ingram passes to Quickly. Nice D from Donic. And so Donic will bring it up for the Lakers. It counts and the foul. Scotty Barnes picks one up. And how about the balance of Donic on that possession. amazing at just absorbing the contact and still with the strength to finish at the line for one. One shot. [Applause] R after leading by four. Barnes outside [Music] quickly against Donic. Ingram outside from the arc and James pulls it down. James has got four rebounds now tonight. Down low, Purle with the steel. Aiden against Barnes. Over a minute and a half into the third quarter of action. Quickly against Donic. Five to shoot. Here’s Barrett. Uses the glass to finish the layup. And now that’s 11 points for RJ Barrett. Now, one of the keys to Barrett’s game is he’s got to play tough. You know, whether he’s coming off the bench or Brent starting, Emanuel Quickley can score. IQ is something else. I mean, he finished second in the six-man of the year voting in one season. He’s capable of putting up 30 as a starter or as a reserve. But it’s a unique perspective to sit on that bench, watch the flow of the game and come in and be impactful. IQ does that. And JJ Reick is called timeout. Wants to talk some things over. Might be seeing some things to adjust. [Applause] [Applause] Raptors on defense. Eight-point game. [Music] A little under two and a half minutes gone by here in the third. So hard to contain LeBron. He’s explosive and clever and unpredictable. It’s kind of a nightmare for any defense. First trip to the free throw line for him in this one. And in last season, he made good on about three out of every four free throw attempts. Uh and last time I checked, I think that’s 75%. [Music] [Applause] First one falls for him. The feel LeBron has for the game. Unreal. Whatever situation he finds himself in, he always seems to have an answer. That one misses for Yaka Purle. His parents paved the way for him to become a professional athlete. I’d say Brent did a good job. Well, it’s a good point, Kevin. They were doing some blocking of their own, just not basketballs like Yakob does. Both of his parents members of the Austrian national volleyball teams and building some roofs on some people trying to put down a few slams. Uh just a super unselfish guy. Donic is all for getting his guys going. Enjoys setting the table. Well, we’re into the third quarter. Just over two and a half minutes played. Quickly kicks to Barrett. Burle with the ball. He’s got eight. Pass to Ingram. Shot clock at six. Raptors need to get a shot up. Barrett for three. That’s good. And it’s Ingram with the assist. Got 14 points for the game. And Barrett’s teammates love it when he looks to shoot from the corner. They know how dangerous he can be from deep. Lakers trail by eight. [Applause] Outside and Barnes sends it back and he’s able to get it back and it’s missing. And that was lining up to be a huge alleyoop, but they just couldn’t quite connect. Yeah, you can see when it’s that close, players reacting just, oh man, we just missed that one. Maybe they’ll get another chance at it. Colonel sets the pick for Barnes. Second shot opportunity. Faster quickly. Fires for three. And again, Toronto with the triple. That’s nice vision there. You see that pass, you make the feed before the defense has a chance to react. And that opens up a a much better opportunity to score. The three for Dunic. They get it back. James wide open. Great look, but off the mark. The defense better tighten up on the mid-range. They’re much much tighter. You expect him to make every single one of those. Ingram a screen on Reeds. again Toronto and Barrett’s a creative player, a guard who can thrive in pick and roll sets. Right now, let’s send it over to the sidelines and get a report from David Aldridge. Kevin, improving dialogue between players and officials is a priority. Commissioner Silver says, “Now with highfidelity audio, we’re all able to hear a lot of what’s being said. Now, we have to take into account the high stress environment, but there has to be a two-way sense of respect. I feel it’s an area where we can make progress. Kevin, you know, the commissioner is always looking ahead and looking at every area, which is great for the game. And JJ Reick calls timeout here. He wants to regroup and go over the strategy. Walter, he’s jumped in for Toronto. And the Lakers also making a change. James has checked in. And so Donic will bring it up for the Los Angeles Lakers. Reeves outside. Stolen. Here’s Walter. Rips down the breakaway slam. Excellent on both ends of that play. Yeah, the steel was sharp, but the slam topped it off. And we say it time and time again, so I’ll repeat it. Have to be careful with the ball or this is what happens. Lakers trail by 14. [Applause] Now Reeds seven points in the game. [Applause] Donic. Nice follow through on the fadeaway. Donic has got five points now this quarter. And boy, he’s really in a groove. Dominant performance last game. Same thing this time out. Seems to be nobody standing in his way. No roadblocks for him to get to his spot, capitalize, and continue to be aggressive. Los Angeles has gone one and two from beyond the arc since coming out of the break. Wasted no time on that one. LeBron’s got 18 points in the game. Playing from behind right here. Not easy, but he is answering the bell. Yeah. Doing anything he can right now to get his team to cut into this lead and give them a chance. It’s Ingram on the wing. Barnes outside. Hurdle sets the pick for Barnes. Six on the shot clock [Applause] and too much time in the lane. They get called for the 3second violation. And that kind of stifling effort on defense needs another look. And this is how you protect and grow a lead by making a huge effort on that end of the floor. Lakers trail by 10. On the wing, James covered by Barnes. No good there. And that would have cut it to single digits. Toronto’s gone into the three-point range four times since halftime and buried two of them. Hurle with a screen on LeBron. The drive by Barnes. Lays it in without an inch of room around him. He’s got 11. [Applause] for Los Angeles. They’ve gone at a pretty good shooting pace. They’re six of 13 from the field here in the third. Eighton a screen on Barnes. LeBron powering in with that shot. The Raptor lead is cut down now to just 10 points with that basket from Eightton. DeAndre Aton dangerous in the pick and roll just because as a big he can get off of that screen so easily. quickly the pass to Bernie. Raptors moving the ball around. Barnes against James. Down to five on the shot clock. Burle sets the pick for Barnes. It’s deflected and stolen by Eaton. Fast break. The Lakers. LeBron finishing the fast break. LeBron James in full speed right there. What size and skill coming down the lane Raptors leading by eight. Quickly the pass to Pur. Quickly looking it over. Here’s Ingram. He gets hauled in by Los Angeles. Well, mid-range is where he makes the money. So when the D’s slow to get out on them, always surprising to see a miss from there. And Aiden stays with it. Aiden so big inside, he turns a miss into an opportunity. Toronto, they’ve gone eight of 16 in the third quarter to put their second half shooting percentage right at 50%. [Applause] Donic against quickly. Nobody near Barnes. And the Raptors miss again. The Lakers on offense. They’re on a 10-2 run here. And here’s James outside. Barnes grabs the miss. Toronto’s gone downtown 13 times in this game and they’re just over 50%. Seven of 13 on threes. Lakers trail by six to the paint and Aton throws it down. And how about the incredible timing on that alley? He absolutely hammered it down. We’ve got 123 left in the third and the timeout called by Darko Royakovic and coach has decided they need a moment to talk things over. Some changes for Toronto. Mamu Kellish Vile is checked in and Grady Dick subbed in for Brandon Ingram. The Lakers also making some changes. Jackson A’s he’s checked in for Aton. Vincent comes in for Austin Reeves and Marcus Smart is subbed in for Luca Donic. [Music] Here’s Shed guarded by Smart. Barnes outside. Just four to shoot. Cans it from downtown. Barnes has got 14. You can’t just stop when there’s a pick set up. Got to fight over it as a defender. That’s one that the coaches will watch tomorrow with that player. You hate to see him give up in that situation. They didn’t have much of a problem getting the ball into the post that time. 51 seconds left to play here in the third. Here’s Walter. He has six and the layup’s good off the glass. Walters’s got four points this quarter. [Applause] Lakers trail by seven. Pass to Hayes. Kicks it out to James. Drills the three-pointer. He’s got 12. He’s going to punish you if you leave him open. He’s more than willing to take the open three when he’s got it. 27 seconds left in the third. Here’s shed guarded by Smart. Here’s Mamu Kerosini and foul on the shot. So, he’ll get a chance at the line. That’s his first personal foul. First team foul. This is his first chance at the line tonight. And he hit his foul shots a season ago at about a 74% clip. Taking two shots. First free throw is good. [Applause] on the miss. And that’s good as he hits both of his shots. There’s 14 seconds left here in the third quarter. Now here’s James Dick defending. 3 seconds left. Gets it off. And the Well, what a terrific game it’s been so far with this fourth quarter. Sure to bring more pressure packed basketball. And on the court for the Lakers to start the fourth, they’ve got Jackson Hayes. Luca Dona’s out there with Smart. Then it’s James and it’s Labraia in at the fourth. his third personal value. First team foul. [Applause] Here’s Dick. They set the pick. Pass to Walter. Clock at four. Here’s Shed. And it’s good off the back rim and in. Shed’s got the first basket as we get going in the fourth for Toronto. And here’s Donic to the middle and it’s James missing after leading by eight. [Applause] Here’s Shed rebounded by Smart. Fourth quarter of basketball. We’re about a minute into it. Near the three-point line, it’s Donuch. Shot is good. Off the back rim and in. If you came to watch a scoring battle, you’re in the right place. Yeah, both of these teams locked in on the offensive end. Going to be a highscoring affair tonight. And for the Raptors, their shooting has been outstanding in this game at 58%. [Applause] Pass to Mamu Kellishi. Hayes with the steel. Here’s Lorrabia and he’s going up for the alleyoop and he gets the whistle. Two free throws coming up. As tough as they get. Sparks a bulldog out there. Does a good job of drawing contact oftent times by initiating it. Two shots. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. And the first one drops. And some of what Smart gives this team doesn’t always show up in the stat sheet, but but he makes plays that help you win. And the Raptors making a change here. Apaji’s checked in. [Music] [Applause] He’s perfect from the line this time. About a minute and a half through the fourth quarter. Now here’s shed pass to Ingram into the lane. contact on the shot and now a three-point play chance as he’ll head to the line. Yeah, that was pretty awesome balance there from Ingram on the play even after the contact able to absorb it. Second team at the line for Toronto Brandon Ingram. Jump shot. Let’s get it. Get it. Get it. Pitch here. And the free throw. No good. And so James will bring it up for the Los Angeles Lakers. The three for Donic. The triple. Donic. The skill of Donic at 67 230. It makes him an impossible matchup defensively. Pass to Ingram. This one for three. It’s hauled in by Los Angeles. Hayes has got his fourth rebound with that last one here tonight. Donic kicks to Smart. Hayes with it. Donic outside to tie it up. A rebound by Shed. Toronto leading by three. Just over two and a half minutes played now here in the final quarter of regulation. Now here’s Ingram. Lets the free fly. Sinks the triple. Ingram’s got 26. And Ingram really can handle either part of that pick and roll. He can be the screener and then he can roll or he could score off it. Nice option. And here’s James outside. Good. And Smart gets the assist. Smart’s got three assists in the game. Here’s Shed. Ingram outside. Tries it from the top of the key. Rebound the Lakers. Hayes has got his fifth rebound right now in the game. Takes it inside, shrugs off the contact, and dunks it. He’ll go to the free throw line. Oh, an aggressive move and fantastic finish. Trying to send a message with that slam, I think. And let’s get your take, guys, on the scoring breakdown for the Raptors. They’ve been playing some really physical offense, just attacking the paint as much as possible. And I tell you what, they have been very successful with that strategy. You probably have to touch on as well that tonight their penetration has been awesome. I mean, they put force on this game attacking off the bounce and a willingness to do that has paid off. Ingram with a little over three and a half minutes in the books so far here in the fourth. [Applause] Reeves with the rebound. Reeves has got his fifth rebound in this one. He loss up the alley pass and Hayes throws it down. And how about the incredible timing on that alley? He absolutely hammered it down. Here’s Ingram. to the inside. Here’s Mamu Kelli covered by Hayes. And I like the fact that the defense is looking to protect the rim at all costs. And a moment here to take a look at the scoring breakdown for Los Angeles. The three-pointers and how well they’re able to shoot them. You wonder if they can keep it up. And boy, have they. And I feel like another part of tonight’s game has been the hustle. The hustle points, getting up and down, getting second chances, getting transition opportunities. They’ve been fantastic in that area. The Raptors making a switch here. No good on the second. So he hits one of two and here’s the Lakers. They’re on a 15-6 run. James outside. Good. And the assist goes to Donic. Donic has got six assists now in the game. And guys, he’s been a one-man air raid coming at them time and time again. Kind of like he’s in his living room right now. He’s found a comfort zone. Once he gets that, the defense knows they’re in trouble. making the most of the screen. That’s how it’s done. And it’s in the perfect spot. Greg frees him up to get all the way to the bucket. Really not enough help there. Lack of communication on the backside. Honest. [Applause] It’s rebounded by Dick. I think if I was coaching these guys right now, especially him, I’d tell them, “You take one more three-point shot and we’re going to have some some conversations here side by side.” And that was the right call. When you need a basket, go to the guys you trust the most. Yeah. Whether it’s teammates or the coaching staff, hopefully a combination of both, but gets close. He’s getting the ball. James misses and so quickly will bring it up for the Toronto Raptors. Pass to Dick and he banks in the layup and it’s nine points for Grady Dick. Not just a jump shooter. Dick can operate inside that restricted area outside James. Bullseye James. James has got the game tied up here for Los Angeles. Toronto’s gone one and two from three-point range here in the fourth. Now Dick James defending faster quickly back to Ingram. There’s the pick. Shakes off the strong D and gets to the bucket for two. Ingram’s got nine points in the quarter. [Applause] Lakers have gone seven of 11 from the floor in the final quarter so far. Some solid looks for them. Reeves finds James. Another miss by James. Toronto shooting percentage 59%. The offense is running smoothly and that one’s good. Ingram like how selfless Quickly was on that play just creating team offense. And the Lakers with possession here, trailing by four. Reeves outside. [Applause] Pass to Donic. Donic attacks and it’s good for two. Donic has got 22. How about the poise from Donic right there? He ups the Annie when it’s a critical possession here in the game. And the timeout called by Darko Royakovich. And that timeout by coach was carefully measured, wanting to make sure that everybody is on the same page here. [Applause] And while we’ve got a moment, let’s send it over to our terrific reporter, David. David, thanks, guys. Got a chance to listen in on Dark Oryakovich during the huddle. Now, with the game in the balance, he had some encouraging words for his team. He said, “This is what we wanted. We thought if we kept it close, we could pull it out. Now, let’s go out there and do just that.” Back to you guys. Thank you, David. Barnes outside. Active quickly down low. Here’s Ingram. Two free throws coming up and they call the shooting foul. That one on a great offensive players can use that pump fake with such advantage. Ingram gets the foul. Extra points coming. [Applause] [Applause] The first one falls. [Applause] [Applause] No free throws. Good for Ingram. Lakers trail by four. [Applause] Now Donic. [Applause] Donic with the strong move inside. I mean, he’s just been brilliant today, guys. And it was the same exact story last time out. The Raptors have gotten exactly two/3 of their shots to find the bottom of the net here in the fourth. Eight of 12. Barnes dishes to Barrett. It’s Ingram on the wing and it comes off the front of the rim. LA has gone beyond the arc seven times here in the fourth and been successful three times. And Aon throws it down. How about that? Aton showing why he was picked first overall. That’s a reason. Toronto’s gone one and two from three-point range here in the fourth. That’s Humera against Ingram. That shot missing. Good work defensively by Hatchima to take the lead and out of bounds as the Raptors gain possession. Yeah, unfortunately just poor execution there. You cannot give the ball away at this point in the game. Toronto with the ball. They’ve led by as many as 14 points with the step back. Ingram against Hachimura. Hachimura putting the long arms to use. [Applause] Dic brushes off the contact and hits. And that’s about the worst defense I can imagine a team playing coming down the stretch. Well, I hope there’s one player on that team out there that has interest in winning this game. Right now, it doesn’t look to be one. Ingram deciding where to go with it. with his screen on Hatchim Ingram. It goes straight through with the switch. Ingram’s got it all tied up now for the ref. He’s a guy that lives for a big moment like that. Great focus and courage in the clutch. Here’s Donic. Donic with a rubous drive inside. Incredible. Donic decides he wants to take over and that’s his personnel. He comes up with the goods on that one. Ingram against Kimber. It’s a teardrop and foul on the shot. He’ll shoot two at the free throw line. Rui Himura hits one up at the line for your Brandon taking two shots. [Applause] And no good is the first free throw missing for him. We’ll see if he can nail the second. That’s good. Going one or two from the line and that narrows the gap to one. 105 left to play in the final quarter. Donic against Pur Donic. No good. This possession gives them a chance to take the lead. Yeah, they don’t want to let this one slip away. Remember that one, guys. A difference maker. I’m wondering, is that the biggest shot of the game? And JJ Reick calls timeout here. No doubt he is feeling the importance of this moment right now. [Music] Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Applause] There’s 47 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Inside, stolen by Quickley. Hage comes with the double team. Hage with the steel. Hatchimal with it. Now guarded by Ingram. Himmer the pass to Donic. Count it and the foul. It goes on Brendan Ingles. Really heads up there. Play where you locate the best open pass and then you get it there for an easy buckle. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] That free throw good from Donic. That’s just clutch work really. That’s all you can say. A little bit of D now and they’ll be out of here with the win. And the timeout called by Darko Royakovic. The magnitude at this juncture in the game clearly warranting a timeout. What do you think we’re going to see here? Big chance here to tie it with a bucket. Well, they just need a solid play right now. And coach going through his index cards to find one to get something going. [Applause] Here’s Ingram and Darko Ryakovic calls timeout. Pivotal moment in this game. He’s not taking any chances. He’ll call time. And talking about the approach now, what are they looking at? Big chance here to tie it with a bucket. Well, they just need a solid play right now. And coach going through his index cards to find one to get something going. There’s 25 seconds left here in the fourth quarter. [Applause] Steps back and shoots. Got it. And tie game. That is a huge basket right there. This is why you love Brandon Ingram. And JJ Reick is called timeout. And he knows there’s no room for mistakes and wants everyone on the same page. [Applause] Here’s Donic. [Applause] It’s good. [Applause] And so it’s the Lakers who come out on top here.
