  1. All things considered, it’s nice to be in a playoff spot. The Atlantic is weird this season. It’s especially strange to see Florida at the bottom

  2. We ought to see Cossa by January unless Gibson starts stopping 3 or less a night. Honestly if Gibson doesn’t have a big game his next game, they should find a way to give Cossa a look asap. I’m over the 2nd and 4th rounder at this point, I want to win those games 5-2

  3. It finally happened. I had a red wings dream. Dreamt I was in Todd’s office and Gibson walks in, I get the fuck out of there

  4. Gibson should be played intensively. He will hardly find his groove playing every fourth game or so.

I know you’re pissed, but anyone is hardly as upset about it as Gibson himself. Just last year he was very good in goal. The transition was clearly rough one for him, and he never changed team before too. I think that since you traded for him and he’s there he should get consistent chance to become consistent.

If it doesn’t work, then too bad and move him alright.

But this sucks – for the team and for Gibby too. He needs time to get hot.

That’s like Ullmark coming to Ottawa last season. Start was *rough* but they kept playing him and he eventually carried them to playoffs after god knows how many years.

  5. A true SD on the top 2 lines would be cool.

I think our weaknesses are becoming more defined:

Kasper’s slump means we need a 2C. (Again)
Gibson’s play means we need a goaltender (again)
Being manhandled by Boston means we need an EFFECTIVE Poop Disturber (again)

My first order of business is 2 players who can play regular minutes that look to initiate contact and finish checks. Stop being so soft to play against

  6. No goal highlights yesterday? Doesn’t super matter since I watched the game live, but odd to not see them posted.

  7. Swayman whining about interference on the 5th goal despite never being touched, and then getting immediately pulled was so textbook and satisfying. Just a world class whiny bitch every game I watch. Would’ve loved to see his hissy fit in the tunnel / locker room

  8. Seider is wild. I thought for sure after those punches he took that he would either miss games, or look off. Instead he just looks dominant and puts up three points.

  10. Seider gets bumped off PP1. Fans started calling him washed and not good offensively. And that man said, “Look at me, I’m the captain now.”

Dude is on pace for a career year.

  11. Seider was amazing last night. If he keeps putting up points, this will be the year he starts getting Norris votes.

Teams appear to know that Gibson’s five hole is a major weak spot. He lets in a surprising number of goals five hole and along the ice line. The way he plays out makes me nervous because he just seems slow getting back into position when the play changes. Honestly starting to think this might just be a throwaway year for him that jumpstarts a strong effort over the summer to reset himself. There’s still time, but it’s hard to argue with the results even with the D being porous. For what it’s worth, I think there are times where he also contributes to chaos from the D with overzealous puck play.

  12. we’ll take every win we can get and I won’t be too upset

but frustrated at the last 2 GA. felt like Gibson played really well before that.

Elmo throwing the body around was really great to see

Ras being useful is a welcome change

I really like the Kasper/Danny pairing, they just need to see some pucks go in. They had some really dominant shifts last night.

It was extremely funny seeing the ref hold back a laugh as we were booing so loudly he could not announce the power play we were getting on the Zadorov misconduct.

Speaking of which I was in the barn and didn’t have the luxury of replay: does anyone have highlights of the two plays that got misconducts? I saw the scrum with Zadorov and him being shitty to Finnie but someone said something about an Elbow to Mo?

  13. Good ol’ Johnny Gibs, ranked 59th of 61 goalies in GSAx, 58th of 61 goalies in GAA, and 57th of 61 goalies in SV%.

  14. For all of the focus on Gibson letting in those two last goals, I’m just glad they broke the losing streak. Two of the goals he let in last night were unacceptable, but a win can only do positive things for his game.

I’m glad JVR is starting to catch fire. His lack of production before the past few games was a bummer, but he had something like a 19% shooting percentage last season, so I think it was always going to be tough for him to match last season’s point totals given his TOI.

I actually liked the look of those lines last night – I’d still maybe like to see a Kasper-Finnie swap to see if they can get Marco enough confidence to get on track and earn back that 2C spot. In the meantime, I’m actually fine with Copp there for now (at the very least, I think he works better there than Compher), but you could tell based on the post-game media that Todd’s had more than one talk with him about his role when he’s on that line. Either way, I’m glad they finally ended the skid.

  15. We win the score, win the head game, win virtually all of the punk against a team that literally lives in them, and get scoring up and own the lineup, [yet here we are.](https://i.imgur.com/gONN96t.jpeg)

C’mon y’all, let’s just take a day to be happy, oy.

  16. Just a heads up people, if you’re in a public place and will be around others, when you watch videos turn the volume down or USE HEADPHONES! Be polite! No one else wants to hear what you’re watching.

Sorry, just needed to vent. Now I’ll go enjoy my awood highlights, with my headphones on.

  17. Reminder that Jonathan Bernier playing behind the god awful, minor league caliber 19-20 Red Wings squad managed to post a .907 sv%, and ranked 11th in the league in GSAx with 4.6 (if we limit it to goalies who played more than 20 games, he was 9th in the league).

I get that Gibson has played behind a team that has had defensive lapses, but even accounting for that, he’s been awful. And he’s playing on a much, much better squad than Bernier did.
