It definitely does have a meaning I’ve only seen it in the NBA but it could have originated in another sport but essentially you put another player as said players middle name to indicate that they are a similar player to that said player usually in a good context for example Jayson “Kobe Bryant” Tatum. It’s like saying Boutte is the Justin Jefferson of Randy Moss’. In this case tho its making a joke saying Drake Maye is already the Goat so instead of like Drake “Tom Brady” Maye its Drake “Drake Maye” Maye because hes the only one to compare to. Idk if that makes any sense its easier to articulate in person than formulate a coherent sentence lol

Which I think came to be when he tried to set his nickname as “The” to distinguish himself from another fighter named James Krause, and the online databases and foreign-language ring announcers and such couldn’t process that consistently.
