Quinn Hughes, Linus Karlsson & Adam Foote Post-Game Media | Canucks at Avalanche (Dec 2, 2025)

Do you have some takeaways from the road trip as a whole? Uh, I mean, I thought tonight we played pretty good. Um, LA was a stingy game for us. Um, good points in Anaheim, obviously. Probably would have wanted the San Jose one back, but um, I mean, it’s hard right now. It’s a lot of hockey. Yeah. I mean, wins are the most important thing, but can do you get some confidence from a game like this against Avalanche? I don’t know. I mean, like you just said, wins are the most important thing. If you lose, but you lose um 3-1 and not 5-1 or whatever, not you’re still losing. Can we build from it? Yeah, for sure. Um but at the end of the day, it’s still 0 0 to start the next game. You got to be ready to go. Feel like you guys played well enough to get more than three points out of this trip? Yeah, maybe. I think that we probably could have won San Jose. You obviously could have won LA, won Anaheim tonight. played well, but um I mean they’re obviously better in the second, but I I thought we had some good looks in the third. They obviously have players to to punish. Was it a mixup between you and Max on coverage on that rush or I know he stopped skating, but yeah, I mean I think that um I mean he made a nice play. I think I should, you know, hold middle there just cuz that’s that’s the dangerous guy there. And uh yeah, just leave it at that. Well, I think we knew coming into this one it wasn’t going to be an easy match up, but what are your takeaways from the team’s effort now? I mean, I think first and third I think we we play pretty good. Uh they had us a little bit in the second, but uh I mean it’s tough tough to lose. Uh we need the points right now. So, um I mean it’s frustrating. Uh but uh I didn’t I don’t think we played um play bad tonight. You’ve got four goals in your last eight games and you’ve scored in both the games against Colorado. What’s been working for you lately? I mean, I don’t know. I just get more comfortable out there, I guess. Uh I try to get to the areas that the puck uh try to find the puck around the net and and that’s uh with the most of the goal scores. Um but yeah, I mean uh it’s suffering. We we need some wins. Even if I score, it’s I rather take a win. What did you think of the play from your teammates at Baines on your goal? No, it was great. Uh, I mean, uh, Ras made a hell of a play in the neutral zone and, um, then BC find me good in the middle. Um, yeah, it was a really nice play by them. What’s going through your mind on that play? Is that a go-to move for you or you just reacting? Uh, I mean, it’s kind of both. Uh, I I know I can do that and I felt like it was a good good option in that moment. And it was of course nice to see it go in. What’ you think of your team’s effort? You know, we got to get we played good. I mean, I hate we lost 3-1 against a great hockey team. First one bounced rebound right to the McKinnon and we know he’s there. We we’re a little bit off him, but it was and then uh lost coverage on another one and, you know, had a two-on-one, so they’re they’re going to put those in and uh but it it looked like they didn’t get too much tonight, but we had a bury a couple early. I think we had two or three breakaways in the first for sure. Two breakaways, and I think the other one was a twoon one. It’d be nice to see one of those go down. Um but uh you know playing against a good team and and uh we got to make sure we get ours when we can because uh they capitalize on the fewest mistakes. Carlson’s got four goals in his last eight games. Scored in both the games against Colorado. And he mentioned just saying that it’s attributing to just confidence and getting more comfortable, but what would you attribute his success to lately? He holds on to pucks down low. He’s he’s comfortable in hard areas. Um you know, he can absorb a hit and make a play. uh he’s gained some confidence and I think I think he’s really um you know the coaches are working well with him and he’s getting it he’s getting the structure and uh he’s a smart guy so um it was nice to see him have some success there. You think Leer Macki handled himself? I liked it. I mean Leer did a good job. Um yeah he’s he’s a smart occup player and uh you know it’s a tough matchup too early so uh he’s smart. he’s going to get bigger and stronger, like he’s going to get thicker as time goes by, but he’s got a lot of uh you know, he’s he’s calm the puck, doesn’t panic, right? Uh he’ll get he’s not bad in the corners or in the tough areas, but he’ll get as he gets more comfortable with his pace and as he gets, you know, more girth, I think he’ll he’ll do some good stuff. Do what can you tell us about Deander? He just had a scare. He had uh he’s going to be fine. I think he’s going to be fine. And I just talked to him. He got a skate in the wrist area. Came down on him. Uh just a fluke, but I don’t see it. It kind of pierced him a little bit, but nothing I don’t think it’s too deep, but I think he’s had a cut there before. So, you know, a little bit of a little bit of a scare, I think. You mentioned a couple breakaways, but also a couple chances right in the slot, two guys missing the net, and I think Pety had one or two and maybe Quinn has third period, too. We had some really good looks our power play. We should had a couple on the power play. And um like you said, uh I think we had more a looks than they did. Uh yeah, we were right there. And uh you know, there’s a team. We didn’t give them too much, but it just shows you though like you’re a little bit off on a couple plays. They’re going to they’re they’re a veteran team. They’re going to they’re going to take advantage of that. And but uh we will we will you know, we were happy with a lot of looks we had. Um, it’d be nice if one of them bear down and get one of those

  1. i’ll say this. we’ve had really amazing players on this team the last couple years. enough to make a push for the cup. we have had terrible coaches that could never push this team further

  2. Honestly, I think playing for this team has really messed with Quinn's game. He still is amazing, but he kinda feels off a lot of the time. He needs a reset, but will never get that in Vancouver. Management really destroyed this opportunity.

  3. I really thought Kane would be more of a factor, it’s sad that everyone is not getting consistent results it’s time to move some pieces. I think Foote can be successful with younger players that can change to fit his systems. Not that our experienced players can’t.

  4. Brock probably had 25 grade A scoring chances last 5-6 games, scored 1 goal, get outshot every game, pass all day but don’t shoot, not a single forward standout, Vancouver Cannots,
