Looking Back at the Most Impactful Plays in Week 13 | Jacksonville Jaguars

[Music] Welcome into the film room powered by Microsoft Co-Pilot Plus PC. The Jaguars got a big victory in Tennessee on Sunday against the division rival, and it’s going to lead to even more meaningful games as we go into the month of December. Energy, effort, and execution were on full display. Let’s jump into the film. First play we’re going to start with, this is a 50yard completion to Jacobe Myers, and it’s a big play of the ball game. big play because it leads to the first score. There’s Jacobe coming across and Brian Thomas Jr. also right in the area and they’re both wide open for Trevor. He’s got a great decision to make here because he can’t make a bad one. He throws it to Jacobe and a lot of wide receivers once the ball is not thrown their way. They might decide just to jog down the field to see where the ball’s going to be spotted for the next play. But not Brian Thomas Jr. on this play. Watch him. Watch the speed he takes off. If you talk about getting out in front of Jacobe Meyers, look at the speed and look at the block. This is what you call giving it up for your teammates. Now, the first takeaway of the ball game on kickoff coverage, Laquent Allen Jr., he’s an R2, which is lined up all the way to the right side of the coverage team. The return actually is going the opposite way. And focus on Laquent. Look at the speed that he has and the energy and how he’s closing. Let me pause it again so we can find him once again. There he is right there in the circle. Watch the energy. Look at the shoulder being thrown. The ball carrier is almost down. A lot of guys would have been choking it down to see what happens and to basically move on to the next play, but not Laquin Allen Jr. There’s the ball on the ground. And look at Laquent awareness. Jumps on the ball. You talk about big play caused fumble recovered fumble takeaway. That’s a big time play by the seventh round pick rookie. I love Laquent and Trevor Lawrence’s touchdown throw to Brenton Strange. By the way, Trevor had the highest rated game on the season. There’s Brenton Strange. Great read system here. And Trevor, you can tell, is watching the two tight ends that he has in the formation. You got Morris running this route and then Brenton runs this route. The whole key in this whole play is the safety in the middle. Which direction is he going to turn his hips? When he turns his hips that way towards Morris, that means that Brenton Strange is going to be open. And then Trevor identifies that. But you got to have something else to make this play happen because this play takes a little bit of time to develop. Now let’s go back. Look at the protection up front. Look at Cole Van Lannon at right guard having to block Jeffrey Simmons. One of the best players in the National Football League. Does a good job. Also gets a little bit of help there from ETN to slow down Simmons. But this is about a 3 and 12 to 4 second throw for Trevor Lawrence. Time is needed and the time was given to him. Great throw by Trevor. Great read, big- time play. Josh Hines Allen, two sacks on the day, but he got a little help on this one. And it’s help from multiple sources. And let’s start with the help of BJ Green, the rookie defensive tackle here, right? Normally an end. He’s running up the field. This is called a TE. Tackle gets up the field first. Josh goes up the field and then loops up underneath. But you also have a game going on on the other side. Gardak, Dennis Gardak runs an under basically trying to punch inside and then Smoot comes up the field a little bit and then loops around. Okay, how does Josh get free on this? Watch the whole thing happen and watch what happens specifically with Gard when he comes down and hits in this direction. and he literally creates a domino cave of offensive linemen because the linemen are trying to recover to get Josh but they can’t because Gard literally blows him up himself and actually comes free himself that enables Josh Hines Allen to get the sack. That’s what you call teamwork up front.

Jeff Lageman rolls the tape on the Jaguars Week 13 game vs. the Tennessee Titans. He takes a look at the best plays of the game including a couple of good throws from QB Trevor Lawrence and a forced fumble by RB LeQuint Allen Jr. Check it out on Film Room, presented by Microsoft Copilot + PC.
