  1. Only if the return is very very good. He has some of the best stats in the league this year.

  2. > The only way the Oilers make a move for Jarry is if they believe he’s the goalie that can lead them to the Cup.

    Very interesting, hard hitting stuff.

Fuck, I could write for nhl.com. “[TEAM] may try to trade for [PLAYER] if they think he can help them win”. Copy and paste a thousand times.

  3. Edmonton doesn’t have shit worth trading for though. Murashov is better off as the starter in the A. Jarry’s cap hit means nothing. Probably not worth it.

  4. I saw sine account that had a following say it’s Jarry and Wotherspoon for their crappy 3rd center and a 2nd round pick. Loooooooooool

  5. The Oilers have nothing to offer in a potential trade where they have zero leverage. We’d essentially be tanking the season, and they don’t even have a first-round pick to make something like that remotely worthwhile.

Once again, this is just Canadian beat writers indulging in wishful thinking and waxing poetic about Canadian players “coming home” to restore some imagined glory..

  6. Ya, because he’s 8-2 with a 2.57GAA and a .911save%

Edmonton *WANTS* a goalie, so the onus is on them to offer something worthwhile.

And they don’t have much to begin with.

  7. Oilers goaltending is bad. Like crossing the streams bad. (#Ghostbusters). How much of that is their porous defense, how much is scheme, I dunno.

Having said that, Edmonton has very little to trade. They don’t have a first until 2027, and they have about 100k in cap space. No way in Hades is Dubas taking on Nurse (9 MIL <– Not a typo) or Bouchard (10 MIL <– Not a typo), or Hyman (33 Y/O, 5.65 Mil a year.)

Personally, I’d like the season to play out a bit more. Jarry is playing much better than last year, even behind the sometimes-porous Pens D. (He seems more stolid in goal. Not a lot of floundering, just squaring up).

I trust “hockey media” about as far as I can spit. These are the same chuckleheads who had Sid going to: Toronto, Montreal, Colorado, {PICK A TEAM}.

  8. not to reiterate most of the better points in the comments, i just thought it was interesting that the oilers would be intrigued at all. the most consistent jarry storyline is, hot start, injury, horrible down the stretch. how you look at his body of work and be like this guy is going to carry us where skinner sinks? edmonton cannot be that stupid.

  9. The thing though is, Jarry has been playing really well.

So I wouldn’t want to see him go, and if we seem him leave that means the potential stunt of Murashov’s development.
