In an instant. No way the mariners offer that deal.
We’re never going to win it all if we can’t hold on to our own players. I get not going out and signing big free agents, but if can’t keep guys like Kwan, who’s good but not amazing, we might as well move the team or shut it down.
If we did maybe we could negotiate to keep him in the Seattle system until we call him up to the big leagues
That’s a no brainer.
Would this not be admitting that we missed on Bazzana?
I would do it. Kwan is a nice player but overhyped locally.
I would trade him for a chance to turn back the clock and take Nick Kurtz number 1 in the’24 draft.
Like they should have done
I’m tired of trading our players for prospects. How the hell can we win a World Series if we keep trading cornerstones of our team for prospects who won’t be ready for a few years.
We got like 4 more years of prime Jose and we need to capitalize on that. Trading our mlb players for prospects is not the way to win a championship.
All it does is keeps us competitive. So no i want them sign Kwan for at least four years.
Generally trading Kwan if you’re trying to win doesn’t make much sense.
This proposal is a No brainer for us, but would just create a bigger need to sign a FA OF or trade from our SP depth for an outfielder. That prolly won’t happen.
On a 1:1 proposal it’s closer to realistically better for Seattle and Cleveland to do Kwan : Ford given their extension w Dumper and our black hole offensively at C.
Cleveland should ask for Lazaro Montez 1:1
Also a no brainer for Cleveland. Which is why it won’t happen.
Mariners would never offer that. I love Kwan, he means so much to the Guardians, but on any other contending team he’d be a role player and not a headliner. Teams do not trade their #1 prospects for role players with 2 years of control. Teams rarely trade their #1 prospects at all these days.
