What the Cowboys need to do to get past the Lions 😱 ‘That’s THE BLUEPRINT!’ – Foxworth | Get Up
People, it is a Wednesday with Get Up. The regular crowd has shuffled in Fort and Boss here all morning long. More from Heather and Paul on the rankings ridiculousness as we continue this morning. But week 14 in the NFL is going to decide a lot. So, we will do a week 14 watch and see what everyone is watching for. Jack, what are you watching this week? Kansas City Chiefs must win. They got they win to stay in. How about the Kansas City Chiefs could be eliminated from playoffs in December? Are we joking right now? and they face a vicious, vicious Houston Texans defense. This is a matchup. Mahomes has got to be perfect and their defense has to play good. I’m excited to watch this. This is the Sunday night game and it’s a fascinating matchup. Remember, these teams met in the playoffs a year ago and it was closer than the score sounded. Nick, what are you watching? Yes, this is Lamar Jackson against the Steelers. He hasn’t been himself so far this season. Once he got hurt the first time, he’s come back and he’s been a much less version of himself. This team has gotten better on defense and a lot of this team is playing pretty well, but the problem is your MVP quarterback isn’t playing like one. I’m looking forward to seeing if he can bring that back. At AFC North, someone’s got to break away. Speaking of that division, Kmart, what are you watching for? I’m watching Miles Garrett. I was in Cleveland this past weekend. He got one sack, but I want to see will he break the single sack season record against Cam Ward, who just happens to be the quarterback who’s been sacked the most of. Well, he needs four to break it, right? He could do it. He could do it in the He could do it in the second quarter. Joe, what are you watching for this weekend? In 2021, we use words like generational to describe Trevor Lawrence. Almost 5 years later and a regular season record of 30 and 42 with just one playoff win. The word’s gone from generational to disappointment. However, this weekend against Indie is, no hyperbole, one of the biggest games of his career. one of these to move your team forward, move your franchise forward, which has made a big tremendous game this weekend. And then Peter, how about the game you will be at Monday night? Yeah, you want to talk about a quarterback who hasn’t done it in January. How about this guy, Justin Herbert. I I’m looking at Justin Herbert’s wrist, his availability, and how it relates to the NFC East. Cowboys fans, you are watching this. Eagles fans, of course, you’re invested in this as we track Justin Herbert’s wrist. It’s on his non-throwing hand, but I believe his risk could end up determining the NFC East. If he’s in the game, I don’t have the Eagles winning that one. If he’s out of the game, I don’t see Tre Lance beating the Eagles. What sense do we have? Do Do we He’s going to try, but it’s a serious injury to his non-throwing hand when you’re talking about something like that. We have to track it as he practices, if he does practice at all this week. Yeah. Because Ro is it similar to what Rogers was dealing with? Similar, but potentially worse than Rogers missed a game. We’ll I mean, you know, Justin Herbert is a mutant, so who knows what he might do as young and strong as he is. But that game is against the Eagles. And speaking of them, the Cowboys are gaining on them and the suddenly very tight NFC East. Yesterday, Jerry Jones on his team’s playoff chances. Our best shot, I think, is to win the division. I really am pleased with how this team has come together over these last two or three weeks. I’m excited about what we’ve done, how we have evolved, and it would be a fairy tale. Not a not total fairy tale, but it would be wonderful to pull this thing out, get in those playoffs, and have this staff make a run at it. We’ve got the personnel that we can compete like that. It just occurred to me as I was listening to that for the second time, like, good for him. Let him talk. He’s done a lot, made a lot of the right moves and all that. What other owner is like, I think we can get into win the division. Like that’s our best shot right now. Talk the Eagles hear that like he’s like a caller to a talk show. He’s like calling. You know what I think the best chance is to You’re absolutely right, Jerry. I think it is. If you look at the way this thing stacks up, the Eagles have a tough game against this is the owner of the team saying this on the radio. It it it really does illustrate the uniqueness. If it were another owner, I think it would be more like profound. We all know Jerry. I do not think that this is bulletin board material for the Eagles. there like he’s always like what jurors say he I don’t know I don’t know if you saw the locker room footage from the win on Thursday but Dak’s in there and they shove a turkey in Jerry’s face and he’s biting the turkey like this is one of one as far as the owners go he did his postgame news availability you know with the turkey leg we were here Friday morning no one is more excited so anyway to circle it back here’s the thing he’s 100% right their best chance probably is to win the division Cindy let’s put up A18 if we can. Um, first and foremost, the Cowboys have to win tomorrow, right? Dallas Detroit tomorrow night is a playoff game. If the Cowboys win that game, their chances are still only 36%. They will need some things like the Eagles to go their way. If they lose, their chance of making the playoffs are 8%. They’re done. For the Lions, their playoff chances also swing by about 30% based on the outcome of tomorrow night. So earlier this morning, Jeff, you talked about being all in on the Cowboys, and you think this is a good matchup for Dallas on the road. Yeah, they stack up exceptionally well. I mean, you think about Detroit just put another defensive back on IR at the beginning of the week. You got George Pickkins and CD Lamb who have eaten against everybody. They love to run man coverage. Uh the Detroit Lions, they were at a 60% clip. George Pickkins is the leading receiver in the NFL against man coverage. So, I’m not sure which changes. if they change their coverage or they figure something out. Dak has been unshakable and their offensive line, the Cowboys offensive line is really good. So, when you look at that to go, it’s going to be a track meet and I don’t know that Detroit’s going to have enough offense, especially if St. Brown can’t play or is even limited in how he plays to go match score with score with this Dallas Cowboys team. Green Bay just showed the blueprint. They did six and seven man protections just to protect Jordan Love and they let their receivers go and attack big chunks downfield. Dak Prescott has been better than Jordan Love consistently in this season. And there’s no way. The way that you would try to slow down a quarterback like that is confusion. It’s like you trick him. You’re gonna play man, but you’re gonna convince them something else. You can’t trick Dak Prescott. He might be the smartest quarterback in football when it comes to pre-nap reads, preparing his team, getting him in the right situations. Then on top of it, if you just get the ball into CD Lamb’s hands and he may not even be the best with the ball in his hands right now or just get it to them against man coverage against a backup secondary who’s going to tackle them. These guys are playing really well. I think this matchup is tough for the the Lions. They’re going to have to show a bunch of grit, which is their favorite word. So, we’ll find out what they’re made of. I might be saying this every week until we get to the playoffs with Dallas, but I was in the building the week after the Marshon Neland tragedy, the week after the buy, the week they were acquiring Quinnon Williams and getting him on the field when they played the Raiders. And I came in that next Wednesday and said, “Something’s different with this team.” And it’s only increased as far as being galvanized, believing in their head coach, believing in their quarterback. They just beat the two teams that played in the Super Bowl in back-to-back weeks, and now they’re going to Detroit, which is a road game. It’s different. That said, there is no team that feels more confident, has better juice, and has better vibes around their unit than the Cowboys right now. And whether you want to say, “Oh, well, that’s intangible stuff. That’s all for you guys on TV and Disney movie and all that.” No, no, it’s real. They are believing and they are completely different team than they were when they lost to Arizona less than a month ago. Just think of how they came back against the Eagles down 21 nothing. And Shotti’s on the sideline saying, “One more play, guys. One more play.” Uh, this is a different Dallas team that is going to Detroit. But if you are the Lions, defend your den. Like, you talk about grit, you talk about pride, this is the moment. I don’t want to I don’t want to act like this is must win. If they lose to the Cowboys, their season is over. That’s not the case. But for a team that has dealt with Oline issues and injuries and a banged up secondary and Jared Goff kind of not looking right. Now, Aman Rossain Brown didn’t practice Tuesday. We’re not sure if he’s playing just yet. That’s still up in the air. So, a lot of things are stacked against them. And this is a team the last few seasons where they seem primed to win it all and they end up not being able to close the deal. This is one of those games they got to close out. You got to seize the opportunities when you have them. The San Francisco game, no matter what you want to say about that, two years ago, that opportunity was there and they missed it. And then last year, they got hurt. And now this year, they’re hurt again. And the division has gotten better. Things move quick in the NFL. The Lions went from being a darling in the conference to being a favorite to miss the playoffs and oh by the way if you lose this game you have the Rams on the road on deck like it crazy to say to an extent but that window may have already closed on them. Let me ask you particularly, Jeff, from an offensive perspective. What we’re watching in Chicago right now with Ben Johnson is something really special and we’re going to talk about them a little later in the show, but clearly I mean that guy is it. What what and when that guy walks out of your building and their offense just clearly just isn’t the same and they bring in Johnny Morton and Campbell takes over play calling and some of the game stuff is falling through the cracks and last week I thought that their lack of urgency in that last drive was notable. I mean, sometimes, you know, you lose your coordinators, it makes a very big difference. I don’t know that we’ve talked about that enough. No, it’s it’s a massive loss. And you when you think about what what the identity of the Lions was when Ben Johnson was there, it was a run first. The the offense ran through Gibbs and Montgomery really split 50/50 in all honesty. And they were hammers, right, in the way they and they’re trying to do that, but their offensive line isn’t playing as well. And then when they go to the pass game, if you watch what the what the Packers, there was there was nobody in the building who didn’t know how the Packers were going to attack them and they got lit up again. That’s twice you play an inivision opponent and they get after you that way. That does not bode well when the offensive line is supposed to strength. I’m I’m also grinning a little bit here because when they beat the Bears in week two, it was like this parade of like, haha, we got you. It’s Campbell’s offense. It’s not Ben Johnson’s offense. They were dunking all over them. Now here we are in week 14. It’s like, well, we could have used some of that Ben Johnson offense last week. I think this the confidence that you lose is part of the problem because they’re switching coordinators. They’re switching play callers. Like, it feels like this team, it sounds crazy to say, but doesn’t really know who they are, have the confidence in their offense, passing trick plays and like loving that with Ben. You know what the Detroit offense looks exactly like? It looks exactly like what Chicago did Friday. It looks exactly like Swift and Manungi each running for 125 yards and all those great blocking angles that you’re telling me about it from Luc in the morning and all that stuff. That’s a significant loss. These are not some things are not excuses. They’re reasons. We do talk about old line play over breakfast in the morning. That’s a real thing that happened. We better get You’re going to need to pick the Lions tomorrow to save the graphic. Oh, I that’s true. Everyone is on the Cowboys right now, which is Detroit’s best hope by far. Heat. Heat. C'mon Dallas Cowboys!!🤘🏻🤠🤘🏻
They need to play at home. That’s the only way they’d win. 😂
Clowns…
Cowboys = Delusion to Roof 💯 😂😂
The quality of the teams you beat matter. Kansas City and Philadelphia are not impressive teams to beat. 🤣
America's team is coming for the Lombardi. ⭐
Regardless how the season goes I like the direction first year Coach Schotty is taking us. Lets go Cowboys!
Go Cowboys 🤠
Go Texans
Let’s go LIONSSSSS 313!!!!!!!
Greeney and anyone like him are just idiots.. that old media and old thinking make them scared when people profess things.. if yall stop playing shadows and stop being scared of ghosts you’d realize.. speaking true and open is professing your view and manifesting you’re next actions to make your word, bond or truth. Jerry keep telling it like it is, the time is coming for much more than they can even imagine.. the Greenys of the world are just scary people who never truly get in the game.. just talk about it and tell people how they should behave. While never doing anything fr lol.. loosen up, or down lol
We dug ourselves quite the whole this year but I'm hoping still to bypass Philly and take the division. However as a lifelong cowboys fan I'm really excited to see what we have now plus hopefully we can keep Pickens and what we're going to have with the draft.
Go Chargers…
Even billboard material can't help the Seagles
Bruh there’s a good chance that we (the cowboys) miss the playoffs even if we win out the rest of our games. It’s going to take a meltdown for either Philly or 49rs for us to even make it
