[MikeOzanian] “Multiple sources have told me that Tom Dundon is close to selling a significant LP stake in the Carolina Hurricanes Canes at a $2B valuation. Dundon is in the process of buying the Portland Trailblazers”

  1. I’m out of the loop. Does significant mean he’s selling a majority stake? Or is he selling less than half and will retain control?

  2. I don’t know if i like hearing that. Say what you will but as soon as he bought the team we started winning again

  3. Can’t blame him, he’s increased the value of the organization significantly, selling some of it for a massive profit only makes sense. He’s done great for our team since arriving, I hope he keeps controlling share, and I wish the best of luck to the TrailBlazers as they are getting a great owner.

  4. Assuming he’d be selling the 48% he bought from Karmanos in 2021 to fund the Trail Blazers purchase, if all 66.1k followers of this subreddit chipped in $14.5k, this subreddit could buy that share.

  5. RE: “The Packers Model.” Even if any of the major sports leagues allowed that (the Packers being grandfathered in) which is not going to happen, I think it would backfire in as many or more cases than not.

Look me in the eyes and tell me the Canes would have survived the “Dark Years” as a community owned franchise?

  6. I’m curious as to who is going to take this? I’m happy with what Dundon has done with the Canes, but he seems like a nightmare to work with/for.

  7. Top Golf is having financial issues. Not sure why he would want an NBA franchise as the NBA is also losing fans at a pretty good clip.

  8. Born and raised in portand Oregon, lifelong blazers fan.

Good riddance Jody Allen. Sexual predator and collector of illegal bones.
