Just in: Giannis Antetokounmpo and his agent Alex Saratsis have started conversations with the Milwaukee Bucks about the two-time NBA MVP’s future – and discussing whether his best fit is staying or elsewhere, sources tell ESPN. A resolution is expected in the coming weeks.

  5. Bucks ain’t winning anytime soon, respectfully. Giannis is a legend and better for him to move on somewhere he can compete while also getting the bucks a haul for the future.

  12. if it’s really come to this, get the biggest possible package for him. i don’t care where he wants to go, you ship him to OKC, SA or HOU for a haul.

    unfortunately we have one of the worst drafting GMs, limited cap space and a low level of talent on this team. it’s gonna be a tough rebuild.

    fire doc, trade everyone except Rollins and AJ Green since they have multiple years. get picks back, accept bad contracts for picks, and try to climb out one day

  14. If it’s gonna happen can they just stop fucking around with the vagueness? Just put a target list out and be done with it.

    In terms of fit and maxmising his contribution, combined with his contract, makes it hard to justify him as a second option which means he’ll have to go somewhere that will let him take the reigns. Not sure where that is really since it’s a roster gutter to take the money back. Spurs could give a good return I think, but not sure about the fit at all – is taking the ball out of Wemby & Fox’s hands what they want to do? OKC could give a strong return but same concerns about fit there imo

  15. He’ll be the best Buck of my lifetime. Definitely hard to say goodbye but he deserves an opportunity to compete and Bucks need the assets for the rebuild

  20. To me, this sucks more than Favre or Rodgers leaving. Watched him literally grow from a kid to a man. Hope we can get something good in return for trading him. This Bucks franchise is in for some dark dark seasons ahead for a bit.

    I don’t know why people are hating on Giannis right now. Weird behavior.

  21. I just looked at Tankathon and somehow OKC has *4* first round picks? One from the Clippers, one from the Jazz, and one from the Sixers *and* one from the Rockets!?

    I mean they would be dumb to do it, I don’t think they can do it with the money making sense? But god damn that org really did swindle some teams.

  22. Let’s not turn on Giannis. Almost no one plays forever for one team. We paid him over $300 million and he brought us a championship. Neither owes the other anything, we’re square.

    He isn’t a bad guy, and we aren’t a bad organization. It just makes sense for both sides, and frankly it has for a while now.

  25. Sad overall the way it’s turned out.

    Bucks as an organization have taken every single big swing they could to maximize talent around Giannis.

    Fluke injuries (Khris in 22, Giannis and Dame in back to back post seasons), Giannis and Dame failing to mesh, draft misses, and an abysmal miss on the Griffin hiring, leading to Doc, all combined to get us here. Any one of these things breaking a different way probably avoids it.

    That said, Giannis isn’t free of blame. He’ll be my favorite Buck forever, but in hindsight, maybe we should have taken a year or two in the middle to eat bad contracts, be mildly competitive, and reload instead of continuously selling dwindling assets to try and be competitive. See the Lakers 2004-2006, setting up the later Kobe run.

    Hope we get a massive haul for a top 3 player, and I’ll always be grateful for ‘21.

  26. Hes been trying so hard to make it work here but after that chip we can’t get anything done. A top 15 player with one ring is not enough, hope he goes and gets it done somewhere else. Best buck ever, he gave us everything.
