  1. Reliever. Last 2 seasons have been a mess but stuff+ still likes his fastball and curve. 3.55 ERA in 142 IP from 2020-23

  2. Reliever coming off a couple down years despite solid to good peripherals with an upper 90’s fastball with 92nd percentile extension. That’s a Guardians pitching addition all the way baby.

  3. I can’t believe we signed him! What a move! This front office is __________.

    (fill in the blank)

  4. Guardians like tinkering with dudes with huge extension and peripheral numbers and bad results and this dude fits that description perfectly.

  5. time for everyone to have a meltdown over a bog-standard transaction of the type that every team is making this time of year

  6. Apparently some of you need to be reminded that the front office knows more about evaluating pitchers than any us, or even all of us put together.

  7. I’m sorry can we please get a right handed power bat? or a few league average hitters?

  8. World Series bound! Don’t need no bat! Just keep refilling our BP and let the Guardians pitching factory continue.

This is exactly the type of move they would make. 900k for a down year pitcher and watch him turn into a good reliever just for us to lose 2-1 with Jose on third with no outs.

  9. According to my crappy Google Sheet we still have ~$38.8 M less committed to in 2026 compared to what we spent in 2025. They’re far from done.

  10. I have no doubt Cleveland can make this guy a quality reliever. I just wish we could make people quality hitters.

  11. Will not be a fan if this is the only bullpen addition we’ll be adding. We need another established high leverage arm preferably a closer so Cade can go back being the shutdown fireman reliever he should be.Trevor Meggill is available.

  12. The one thing I will not second guess is a Guardians pitching reclamation project. We somehow extract greatness out of thin air again and again.

  13. Wrote this on MLB dot com, but the Guardians’ staff was tied with the Rangers for first in the Majors in average extension (6.7 feet) in 2025.

Cade Smith led the way (7.4) and Joey Cantillo was second (7.3). Meanwhile, Brogdon ranked in the 92nd percentile in MLB (7.0).

Seems like an intriguing move given that parallel. His four-seamer has some juice.
