Live Press Conference: 1:45 PM CT: QB Cam Ward

How often do you talk to him? Do you guys text to keep in touch this week? Uh, no. We we ain’t we don’t text really like during the season like that is more of an offseason. Um, just cuz you know the life we live. We both busy. We both got a playbook, you know, to constantly be in. Um, but you know, I’m always here. What have you seen from the guy you’ll actually go against Mount Garrett and uh how fearsome is he in terms of rushing? Uh, really good. Um, probably the best player um that you know there is at that position. Um and he’s, you know, proved that, you know, game in game in and game out. Uh so we got to do our job of not, you know, letting him affect the game, you know, just each and every play. Uh try to keep a lid on it and, you know, just got to continue to execute our plays, you know, um just, you know, try to execute up and down the field. Cam, knowing you and Shador, obviously not on the field at the same time, but in the same building, does that add any extra juice given how much you guys used to always compete every day? Um, nah. I gotta go against the Cleveland defense. So, um it’s not really into that perspective. It’s more of what can I do for, you know, my team to help us, you know, accomplish our goal in winning the game. I asked Cobra what the most competitive moment was with with you guys. And he had said that, you know, before that game, you just stopped calling Shidor. You said you weren’t going to talk. From your perspective, like would you say that’s the most competitive moment or what would you say was? Um, obviously anytime, you know, both of us are in the room, we’re always competitive from just throughout college, even in the pre-draft process. Um, we just both want to be great players. Um, and I just think it’s going to be exciting for, you know, just a lot of people to see, you know, what both of us will be able to do when we play at a high level. What are your memories of interacting with Cleveland in the draft process and how close did you feel like you were coming to being a Brown during that process? I I had great um meetings with those guys from ownership all the way to the head coach in the GM. They showed me nothing but love. Um and they got a they got a great building. The people that I met there and you know it was an honor to you know have them you know be able to pick me um if it would have went out that way. So I’m I’m excited that I’m here. I’m excited that I’m a Titan. Um and you know I think everything worked out for a reason. that first interaction that you and Shador had, if you could think back to that, what were the first things you thought of him when you guys started training together? Um, I think that both of us would just be, you know, just, you know, great quarterbacks. Um, when it’s all said and done, u, I just think both of us, you know, have the ability to learn, um, different offenses, different just aspects of the football, how you have to see the game. Um, and I just think, you know, just the things that we can do inside the building to help bring people together, um, I just think that’s the best things about both of us. And given how like so many people would always say like you didn’t belong, they would say Shor didn’t belong. Did you guys bond over that during the the whole process leading up to the draft? Uh, yeah, for sure. Um, and there’s going to be haters whether you play good, whether you play bad. We both know that. Um, at the end of the day, it’s really about, you know, what the what we have to do individually and what the we have to do for the building, you know, to help put everyone in the best situation. Could be really cold and windy up there. What’s the coldest windiest game you’ve ever played in before? Um, probably about 10, five degrees. Where was that at? Uh, Washington State. How’d you do? Uh, pretty good. You get a little bit more grip on the ball in the cold. Um, so you know, it’s going to be it’s going to be exciting to, you know, get back in, you know, my element and, you know, just try to, you know, play football and help lead my guys. What would a win mean for you, for the team, and and for everybody to grow? Um, I think the biggest thing it’ll mean um, and that we’ll see with the win, just the things that we’ll have to continue to do to lead to more wins. Um, the growth that we make day in and day out. And I just think for the building, you know, just a, you know, a big boost to finish the season out the right way how we want to. I know you do a good job staying away from from the buzz, but you know, city’s kind of rooting for number one draft pick again, so they could get more people to surround you with. How do you feel about like the that vibe? Um, everybody got their own opinion. Um, I control what I control. I don’t make those decisions when that day come. um I control, you know, throwing the football, leading the football team and, you know, help, you know, producing players on the field. So, I just try to, you know, do my part, leave all the other stuff to y’all. Obviously, Garrett stands out, but what about the rest of Cleveland’s defense stands out to you when you see one coming? I just think they fire on all cylinders. Um, the secondary, uh, they’re very good secondary. Um, the Dline, u, Mason Grer. Uh, linebacker core is real good. So, I just think they complement each other real well. Um, you know, they they really don’t do a lot of just complicated stuff. They do the stuff that they’re good at. You know, it’s helping them, you know, be one of the best defenses out there. Um, so we just got to continue to, you know, harp on the little things that we got to get better at and execute versus those guys. You got five games left in the season. Aside from winning, what what do you what would you like to see this team accomplish down the stretch? Um, winning. That’s it. That’s that’s really the only goal. It’s the only thing that, you know, I want to accomplish that we want to accomplish. Um, that’s just winning football games. What is it? What needs to happen for this team to make more gamechanging explosive plays on offense? I just think we got to make the play. Um, in the pass game, I got to throw guys open. Um, I got to throw it, you know, in their radius to catch the ball. And I just think in a run game, we just got to continue to finish, you know, blocks, finish the runs, you know, from the running back room. Um, myself carrying out fakes. So, you know, everything goes into every little, you know, pass game or run game in the offense. U we just got to continue to emphasize it and you know play physical together and play you know stronger. Your opinion why hasn’t it happened enough? Uh I just think situations um you know you get a you get a premier play to a perfect look that you want. Um and could be pressure on it. Um I might not get to you know the right protection. Um so I think a lot of goes into it and that’s why you know we haven’t had a lot of those plays. I know he was out one game there but it’s been a while since you and Alec really had your connection. what’s kind of happened with him, with you and him, and what needs to happen for you to get back where you were kind of at the beginning of the season? Uh, just continue to harp on the little things from here, for me and him. Um, you know, doing a lot of things in the film room to, you know, help limit just the bad plays by, you know, him, myself, me putting the ball, you know, in a good framework of his to, you know, come down with the catch. Um, then me and him really just have to make the play. I think that’s the biggest thing. Cam, when it comes to you and Shador, do you see similarities in the way you’ve both had to navigate some adversity in the league as rookies so far. Um, I think every rookiey’s journey is different. Um, you know, he may have a, you know, a good game this week, a bad game next week. I may have a bad game this week, good game next week. So, um, you really just take it week to week. You you play to play call and you live, you know, the quarterback way of not getting too high or too low in any aspect. Um, and you really just continue to try to, you know, focus on what you can do because at the end of the day, um, I don’t know what’s going on in their building. I don’t know what he has to deal with on a daily basis in and out of the building. Um, so, you know, I just try to focus, you know, on the Titans and, you know, doing what I can do to help us get the wins. How would you describe how would you describe the nature of your relationship with Shador? And when was the last time you guys spoke? Um, real good. He knows I’m here anytime. Um, I’ll probably say since the start of the season, the last time we spoke. Um, but it’s just more of, you know, we know at the end of the day some going crazy, we know who we got out there in our circle. Um, and just understand just the schedule that we both have to have. So, um, you know, I’m I’m always going to be there for my guy. Uh, I know he going to be there for me. Um, and I think the the biggest thing that, you know, we take for granted of is just being able to play the game healthy, being able to get out of games healthy. Um, and that’s something that, you know, that we bless to continue to keep doing. like the way the way, you know, the draft unfolded for him with him continuously dropping even though being one of the top quarterbacks. And did you reach out to him and what did you say to him? You know, as that was uh really everything happens for a reason. Um God has a plan for myself, he has a plan for you. Um at the end of the day, you just got to continue to prove yourself right. Um and every time he steps on the field, I know he’s going to, you know, prove himself right. Um the same goes for me. So we just got to continue to stay in just the the everyday mindset of getting better. um and not letting bad outcomes dictate the next day. You said someday you have to lose to win. Can you expand on that and why why you feel that way? Um just you learn a lot of stuff. Um you learn a lot of stuff from winning. Um cuz even when you win games, winning hides a lot of stuff. Um when losing games, losing reveals everything and you just got to fight that everyday battle of not, you know, getting too high or too low. Um, and I just think the more consistent you are just in the everyday process, you know, it’ll help you, you know, as years go on. Appreciate you.

  1. Cleveland media asked one question about their friendship, Shedeur shut it down quickly and there was no additional questions. Should have stopped when Cam said they haven't spoken during the season. Shedeur said the same thing.
