"One league source expressed a belief to ClutchPoints that “the first decent, reasonable offer” made for Zion will be acceptable. The same source noted that the haggling with Joe Dumars and Troy Weaver would be “minimal” at this point, so long as there is some tangible return.

However, the path to a deal likely requires the Pelicans to sweeten the pot with their most-coveted role players. That will take some finesse, and it seems everyone is being cautious about a very hard-to-calculate gamble."

Huh?

  1. Bullshit. If we have to “sweeten the pot” to trade Zion then I’d rather just cut him this summer once his contract becomes non guaranteed due to missed games.

  2. Nah we have sat the man for multiple years. We are giving up nothing. If he is given up for filler and 2nds that’s fine. We should not lose any positive assets.

  3. Some one that probably works for another team said if I was the pelicans I would take what I could get. That’s not news.

  4. I’m surprised this wasn’t posted here already.

How could he not be on the block. Dude is close to being out the league. He never plays lol.

Edit: also, we don’t have to give up anything. We can cut him. It doesn’t make sense to trade Zion and Herb for….who? It doesn’t make sense.

  5. The team is finally done with Zion. I am just guessing but I think Dumars listens to other teams on the offseason an thought he could get Zion to play well and stay healthy for the first half of the season an increase his trade value by the deadline.

This gamble failed and he go hurt again and now he is ready to just dump him

  6. Seems more speculation than fact. That said, if they can move him without including Trey or Herb and only getting back twenty-five on the dollar, do it.
