The Padres have been one of the most frequent teams active in the Rule 5 Draft under President of Baseball Operations A.J. Preller. Having already looked at Rule 5 eligible pitchers, what hitters in the eligibility pool are fits for the Padres’ roster needs?

  1. Surprised to see Blaze not being protected. He has some pop so he would be welcome at first I think

  2. “***The Padres have been one of the most frequent teams active in the Rule 5 Draft under President of Baseball Operations A.J. Preller.”*** Is this a true statement? Besides Kolek, I can’t think of any rule 5 players on the roster recently. I can’t find another who made the Opening Day roster since 2016. They took a couple of players who were returned, but not many.

  3. Time for some dumpster diving, followed by some phantom injuries, if necessary. Let’s goooooo!

  4. After what Preller brought in last winter, we just gotta wait by the stove and let that man cook.

  5. If we have a couple hundred thousand lying around, give Jordan and Wood a long look in the spring. It’s awfully hard to carry Rule 5 position players on a competitive squad, though.

  6. I could see grabbing a defensive #2 catcher to battle Campy through spring training. Every team needs catchers in the Spring.

  7. LMMFAO. The Padres should not be targeting ANY players in the Rule V draft, let alone hitters.

The Padres are competing for a playoff spot and need to be targeting average or above average proven major league players.

    Who writes that garbage?
