Maple Leafs vs. Panthers LIVE Post Game Reaction | Leafs Talk
Leaves talk. Not last place, baby. Hey. Yeah, that was what was on the line tonight. The lose. losers last place. I got to tell you, buddy, I think Brad Marian now watching that Panthers team projecting a little bit when he was talking about the Maple Leafs earlier this week. Yeah, he’s good at that stuff. He’s good at that stuff. But I don’t but I mean like his team his team stinks. They’re in danger. Him do him doing the whole song and dance about like it’s early in the season and anybody who’s counting them out is an idiot. Like maybe he’s talking about the Panthers. I think there’s two different conversations about tonight because the first one for me and the one we can start with is definitely the best performance for the Leafs all year long. Uh most complete game from start to finish I believe had the mo did they outshoot the Panthers? I think the last time I looked they had outshot them. They pulled the goal at the end so maybe they pulled even or got ahead of them by one but they were out shooting them most of the game scored led you know led the whole game. I you know this is a I’m not going to project too far forward just gonna think about tonight. Yeah. 3127 Leafs the shots tonight. Yep. Just a really impressive performance and that’s the first conversation we should have. There’s a Panthers conversation to have but we should talk about the Leaf first. They’re just talking trash about the Panthers buddy. Like but they were lifeless dreadful tonight. So I’m just saying Brad Marshan gets to talk his trash. Gets to throw the media and lump in the media. Get to give it back a little bit tonight with Brad Marshan. like might have signed up for no playoffs this year, Brad. Like that’s on the table for you boys. Anyway, uh I just I loved the depth tonight where this is the this is what this team’s supposed to be, man. A group that can get multiple lines with scoring and you felt the threats throughout the lineup tonight. Lton with the huge goal late, right? Dakota Joshua now building off of his start after the scratch. I thought this was Nick Wah’s best game as a Maple Leaf. He just jumped off the page for me tonight. Was all over the ice making plays in on the forche, winning faceoffs. Like that’s the guy that you signed up for. And then our sweethearted hero, the new fan favorite of JD and McKe Statur who I felt was also kind of buzzing around. So yeah, just this was one of the first games where it felt like the Leafs had a bunch of guys going all at once. And that’s not to say anything about the top line who I think was playing well tonight, but those guys in particular I think really stood out. Yeah, I think I think that third line has really been the the the lead story of the last two games and one that they put together here and we know that that Bub has been going to the absolute blender all season long trying to find something that sticks and not a ton has been sticking as you know and it seems like he’s found something here after scratching Dakota. Dakota Joshua officially now new scratch and score. Uh he’s two games in a row now with a goal. I guess it was the the first game back after the scratch was the Washington game, but two games in a row now with a goal after being scratched. Uh and yeah, like I think you bring in Nick W and this is what you expected him to look like. A really really good third line center that can, you know, control play and make more plays than you want him to and lean on guys defensively and kill penalties like you all said there. And then Bobby McMahon gives you a little bit of a speed and offensive jump. I I think this is what, like you said, what you pictured to kind of replace to to change the identity. Yep. This is a different type of third line than the Leafs have had in years past. And for two games in a row here, one against a crappy Pittsburgh team and one against the Florida Panthers who are supposed to be good but are crappy, it’s been two good games in a So hopefully they can build on this and hopefully Dakota Joshua can keep his motivation up and still keep looking like this. But yeah, uh impressive line for the impressive night for that line. Really good. I just like that McMahon brings a speed element that keeps defenses on their back foot. Mhm. Joshua clearly has good hands in front of the net, man. Mhm. Like just hasn’t been there enough this season and hasn’t been playing with enough force and confidence this season. and Nick Wah who I just I want to focus in on a little bit more because I didn’t mention the penalty killing part which you did and yeah that Florida power play it’s buddy just you know me one of my big things is when there’s a guy with size does he play big and is not like a massive thumper by any stretch of the imagination right he’s not putting guys through the glass he’s not Mr. Snarl, he’s got a bit of it, but I like that he just he felt really big tonight. He’s rangy. He looked like a guy that was tough to get around. He’s getting in on the forche and he was finishing his his hits. Like, I liked him, man. I make smart plays, not overwhelmed by it at all. Just you get that Nick Roth for the entire season, that’s going to make me feel pretty good about this. Honestly, if you get those four guys playing center for you all season long, the way that they are kind of going right now, that’s a great place to start in a league that’s desperate for centers. It like on paper, it is fantastic center depth. And I I think I do worry a little bit about Tavaris in terms of how much they pressed when Matthews was out and how hard they how hard they rode him because it feels like his game has dipped a little bit. Like that line has clearly been Cowan and Knander really driving the play. like DVR clearly, you know, he scores the empty neter tonight and I I just I don’t think he’s quite been the same since that stretch. He was around it a couple of times, but missed on a couple short ones, but yeah, had had his chances, had his looks. No, I I I just I I love the center depth and I I love all these things about it. And I, you know, they they really did look good tonight, but it’s hard not to project forward and it’s hard not to see if they can try to dig themselves out of this hole because they have really dug dug a hole and everybody gets points or whatever. But if you can keep these guys healthy, it’s a good place to start. It’s a good place to start. But do you agree on what tonight? Yeah, I liked them. I liked them. He made a good screen in that point. The shot that Stetcher shot in. Uh, so that that officially was a Ster goal. Uh, I think so. That’s what it says on uh the app here and uh they they mentioned it a couple times, but it looked like it direction. I don’t know if they’re going to change it. It says Stetcher uh assisted by McMahon and Joshua. So, and Stetcher gets a second point on the goal by Dakota Joshua. Stetcher uh you know, all of a sudden Troy Troy Hughes out there all of a sudden just buzzing around every shift. It’s unbelievable. But yeah, I know. So, like I I just you don’t necessarily look for the production from from Wah. I think what’s his careerhigh in goal? 16 17 that range if I’m not mistaken. But what I like about him is he looks capable of making a play and he still has the size and he can still get on the fore and when he starts to get his his feet like he really does look a lot better since he came back from whatever injury he had. So part of me wonders if it was something that was lingering before he went away. Yeah. And he kind of had to sit on the shelf for a little while to just to to to feel better about himself and now he’s kind of moving better. It feels like it just feels like he’s got a little bit more speed. So yeah, I liked him tonight. I really liked him about nice. Yeah, I felt I mean I liked um him against Pittsburgh, too. He had the he had the goal in that game. So I think it’s been a couple good games for him. That line has been good. How dare they force me to watch that Penguins game by the way. Like Sunday morning I saw the result. Like I saw it Saturday little pieces, but I had to wake up early and chuck that one on and actually watch the game because they they scored so many goals. But yeah. Okay. Uh, no, just all I was saying about N is I was a little worried when he first came back that the injury wasn’t fully healed. And he felt more like Matthew N tonight. Just like the bully stuff and being on guys hips and getting engaged in some of the physical play, turning guys over, forcing some some some like good plays in the offensive zone. I like nice. But let’s do Stetcher Talk because you and I got a new crush. Stch Talk. Yeah. I You didn’t even see his interview. you you flipped over to the Rappies, but he uh he did a quick interview with um with Mark Masters in between the the break and he was basically like this is my seventh team, bud. Like I I you know, I got to play like every shift’s my last like he’s just like doesn’t it feels that way. He has it feels the way that that’s he’s playing. That’s what I mean. He just he feels like he has a real just reckless abandon about him that he has to make every play because he’s going to end up back on waiverss. like seven teams is crazy and he’s getting towards the end of his career. He’s not a very big guy. It’s pretty amazing that he’s got this many games in his career considering his size, considering how hard he plays. Yeah. But yeah, it’s hard not to say that he has been an incredibly positive contributor to the Toronto Maple Leafs since he arrived. And I watch the Edmonton Oilers every night and like they couldn’t used him at some point. Like I I I guarantee if there’s any Oilers fans that are watching the way that he’s playing with the Leafs right now, they’re pissed. And it’s really good timing. I I know he’s not perfect, but both of the Toronto Maple Leaf’s top two right-handed shot options are have disappeared. Like Carlo mystery injury set back from injury. We had no idea what was wrong. Possible surgery. Yeah, he is getting surgery. He’s going to get work done uh said Bubet today. Tanv skating, but like that sounds like he’s getting a facelift. Yeah, I know. I know. He’s like going to Turkey to get a new hairline or something. Like he said that’s what Bubu said. guy. And then and then yeah, Tanv the the very cryptic. Yeah, he’s back in Toronto skating like skating by himself because any contact may jolt him out of place again. So, they’ve needed a guy to come in and just play right-handed minutes and McCabe’s way better on the left. So, it feels like they’ve maybe found something with these two guys that they can sort of paper over until maybe Tana’s ready or I it just feels like this is their second pair for the foreseeable future. He was second one second off of being their leader in ice time tonight. That’s amazing. Yeah, that’s amazing. I just Okay, so that’s I mean that’s a detriment. It’s not good. It’s but if he’s playing the way that he’s playing, it’s fine. Obviously, it’s probably not going to be overly sustainable. Okay. 24 26 is crazy. Yeah, it felt like a lot, but I didn’t know it was that much. It was that much. He was vital tonight. Like I did know they let him in ice time versus Pittsburgh like Luke says, but they were boat racing the Penguins. So I thought May and Oel got hurt in that game, too. So they were kind of papering over those ice time. But 24-26 tonight in a regular se in a regulation game is pretty wild. Okay. But there’s there’s a few things I like about this. One is that he’s going and Bub’s playing him. Yep. And and as you said it, he’s out of it’s out of necessity that you have this guy and that you fell into this guy, but I like a coach who has his finger on the pulse and goes, “Okay, you’re playing well. You’re going to eat more ice time.” And so far, Stetchure has not looked overwhelmed by it whatsoever. But the desperation that we’re talking about that he’s playing with with his seven stop, I love the honesty. I wish I saw the interview now, actually, because that’s something that I I crave, right? is just hockey players being humans when they’re in front of a camera and a microphone. Just telling it like it is. And that’s a that’s a beautifully honest sentiment that is reflective in the way that he’s playing. I But when you watch him, he’s he’s winning puck battles. He’s he’s given them like actual ability to move the puck out of their own end, which how many guys could you say that about for the majority of the season? And when you think about them going from not having him with the injuries they have and the position they were in to playing Mabe on his wrong side or Oel uh little too much or more Meyers and more Mermis buddy his war is already this is a this is a two to three war situation for Troy Ster right now already in the season. This is massive for them. I I I don’t know. I like the way that he moves. I like the way that he competes. I like the personality. I’m I’m in, man. I’m in. This This probably will not end the way I want it to. No, I probably Yeah, but I’m going to I’m going to enjoy it while it lasts, man. I haven’t had many things this season that have genuinely made me happy watching the Leafs and Troy Ster is making me happy. And you make fun of me all you want for that. That’s just I buddy. That’s just the way it is, baby. I’m feverishly trying to rack through my brain here to come up with a new nickname for us being the the Stetch Guys, but I can’t like I I a Troy’s boys. That’s the best I got. That’s the best I got. Honestly though, that’s that makes us a little tough, but it’s it sticks. It sticks. It’s the one that’s happening there. Like Troy’s Troy’s boys it is. And right now it’s it’s Troy’s boys. Yeah. Oel lose the point streak. Yeah. So Mark Masters cursed him. Did he ask him about it? Yeah. Right before the game. He wasn’t aware. He’s like, “Yeah, now I know. Thanks a lot, Mark.” Oh, so OL didn’t know. He knew. Oh, I’m sure. I’m sure he knew. I’m sure know he plays. I’m sure he knew his point streak. Yeah. I don’t think that he knew it was a Maple Leaf record. Oh, okay. That’s fair. That’s fair. Yeah, that’s much more fair. Yeah. So, I would say that’s that’s fair. And I like Masters, but that’s a curse. That’s just doing a job. That’s a curse. Alrech Larson had five shots tonight. Yeah. He was he was aggressive at a couple points in that game. Yeah. Especially the power play, which by the way continues. I don’t want to really do any negative talk tonight because it was really just a good game and we’ve done so much. I got a few things, but just have the P has killed them all year. It’s killed him all year. Well, I think one thing is clear. Listen, man. It I’m I’m dying to get through a show where we don’t mention Mner. Like, I’m dying even when I’m doing my pod, uh, I’m getting people bringing up the Mner thing all the time. One thing that is very very clear is you can’t do the five forward thing without him. Without Mitch. Totally. Yeah. I mean, I think we both said that this is where they’re going to miss him the most. Yeah. Special teams. Like, we both said that multiple times when the show when he left, we talked about this. Their power play has just not been close to nearly like it was the best it ever was in this era when they did the five forward thing with him at the top. That was when it was the best. It got hot. It was good in the playoffs. Like, they were really good on the power play with him up there. And they’re trying to make it happen here. And it’s I mean like I just said to you before we started talking about this, this power play’s killed them all year. And they would have a lot more points in the standings if they were even like 15th or like 10th or like 20th. It’s just there’s been so many games where they’ve just needed a goal and they just can’t get it. And tonight it gives one up and then of course they do the overcorrection and put the two defenseman out there. I’m like, “Oh god, hockey guys, just do one defenseman. Yeah, just take off N and put on all of Reman Larson. Take off one of the other guys, put him on. Like just give it a run of games at that. No Cowan and Oel. Sure, but I like Cowan up there now. Like I’m not It’s like he’s one of the team’s best forward. So you got to have him on the top power. Well, and now Matthews defers to him all the time on the power play, too, which is uncomfortable. Defers to everyone. I I just got to say though on that that goal like Yeah, it’s two forwards trying to get back. Good play by Cowan just hustling, back checking, making it. Mhm. And everyone’s going to be pissed at N because what is he doing, right? Like Ni’s basically kid like child hockey player, child soccer player. Like there’s the ball, go to the ball, go to the puck. But Knlander, can I get a little bit of like look at how he’s just watching this. He’s like, well, I didn’t get it. I to be fair, he’s in there trying to tie up his guy and N leaves the guy leaves a 58. you if you think that’s good then I think it’s I mean at least he’s standing in the right spot. It’s not the best effort. No question. Don’t get me wrong here. But leaving Sam Ryder open between the slot in between the hash marks is not a great No, it’s in the in the blame pie. N is extremely high. Like Yeah. I just didn’t I just didn’t like to compete on that one from Neon. I guess I’m not surprised by anything, but he’s sick. So, how can you expect him to be any good? Yeah, it’s fair. So, I won’t say he’s very sick. He’s just the sickest guy ever. He looks sick as a dog out there tonight, let me tell you. Holy smokes. Anyway, uh okay, hold on. Let me go back to the notes. Let me see here. Uh yeah, I just thought tonight was a good first and third line game, but then yeah, the Len Lorent thing to me also feels real. Like I like when those two guys are on the ice together. Yeah, I just love Lton. I mean, we’re we’re we’re a Lton podcast. I just think the guy cares so much. I mean, that’s where we’re at. We’re old we’re old uncle guys that are just we love the guys who care. No, but this has always been the way that it is. like he the goal he scores is so deserved. He had the excellent shift and look at the like I got the guys to break the defensive play he makes right before where he comes back to the net. That’s a tap in. Puts a stick on the ice and then you know he heads down to the to the offensive zone and he shoots one in. I just love this guy. Look at this. Another defensive play on this on this shift. I just love the honest effort this guy gives and we’ve asked for more ice time. It’s harder to justify the more ice time now. One of that third line’s looking good, but I love that he got that goal tonight. It’s his first of the year, which is surprising. And he’s just he his reaction was awesome. He was fired up. I love the reaction thing. I’m the reaction thing. He had the big reaction. Dakota Joshua was pumped up after his goal. Like that’s the one nice thing about the depth guys getting going and getting a win is there’s some hey this is this is this is good stuff. Like this is a not hey act like we’ve been here before. These are some passionate goals. I like that reaction from a team that has been missing that kind of attitude basically all season long. Like be excited about your goals. And I’m glad that you brought up the the defensive play too because I just I trust Lton. I like the way that he plays. I don’t think that he’s a big mistake guy. And that sealed the game because dude, how many times have we talked about the Leafs blowing lead so far this season and that was looming over this game. Oh yeah, like totally totally that little dive, by the way, little quick ref talk on the Joshua penalty, Leafs kill an ice penalty. But from that moment forward kind of felt like, man, it’s 2-1. Florida’s just going to find a way to pot some greasy goal with like 340 left on the clock. And that iced it. that that totally killed that Florida team’s not good enough to be able to overcome a two-goal deficit late. Can I can we talk about the Florida part of this a little bit? Sure. That looks like a team that’s played a lot of hockey in the last few years. Well, and is just missing too many guys. I mean, they’re missing Barov for sure, but like and but like Yeah, I understand. But like you look at their lineup though, they still have really high paid players in their lineup and they have their whole decor and they have one of the best goalies in the world. Like, you know, have you seen Tampa Bay’s Decor recently? Yeah. I I don’t know, man. I just missing seven guys for sure. They’re Listen, they’re missing guys. No question. They’re missing guys. No question. But like they’re not They’re just lifeless. Like they Nobody’s running around. No one’s doing anything stupid. No one’s in anybody’s face. Bennett’s not acting like an idiot. Marianne didn’t act like an idiot. Like they just Reinhardt was, you know, he gets that gift of of a short-handed goal. that’s really their only new chance. I just, you know, they’re missing a ton of guys. That’s what happens when you get the the two cups away, but like they can still play with an edge. It’s just not there. They just they they were lifeless from this from the drop of the puck and the Leaf took advantage. They set the tone. They were the hungrier team the whole night, which is something we have said once tonight. Like I think that’s the first time all year that I’ve come on here and said that the Leaf was a hungrier team. I was just surprised at the lack of bull crap by the Panthers. There’s nothing there. So Wool did make one really big save and be also save like they combined for it early early in the game. So early in the game, Florida had a little bit of a punch. Yeah. And Toronto scores on their first shot of the game for the third straight time, which is insane. Yeah. Like I wrote down here that the Leafs have to lead the league in shots in g lead the league in games with no shots in the first five minutes. Yeah. There’s I would I would put some serious money down that that is absolutely the case. Never get a shot in the first 5 minutes of any game. But basically after that goal, I thought it woke up the Leafs and Florida went to bed. And you’re right, there was there was no like how many times tonight did you really feel the presence of Sam Bennett? Zero times and knocked him down on the power play. Like he hipped him and he fell down. You’re right. the the rattiness that has been there, the Eblad stuff, the even Rodriguez stuff. Yeah. And I I thought they were going to play with more urgency, right? Like they’re coming, they’re playing Toronto. They’re both in the same spot in the standings. You know, if you lose this game that you fall behind them and now the narrative, I think, from a greater hockey conversation actually flips from this game to, hey, how much trouble is Florida in? Yeah. Like, how hard is it going to be for these guys to scratch and claw their way up in the playoffs? Babroski lets in a softy and god he was good in the third though. He was phenomenal. He made three awesome saves. Two really great ones. The one from Matthews TWA specifically the best. The breakaway for McMahon was man doi clear shot kind of just put it right in his glove. But still like he was he was keeping that a respectable score keeping his team in it. But I’m just saying like if you look at the save percentage the age he’s on the last year of his contract. Like but yeah man here’s the thing. They’ve won two cups in a row. I’d kill for their problems. Like sure is what happens. But I just I don’t think it’s a lock that they are just gonna find their way out of this. Totally. I really don’t. I really don’t. Totally right. And if you think that if you ever thought that there was going to be a night that their rats would, you know, come out of their sewers, it would be tonight. And they stayed in the sewers. Yeah. They stayed in the sewer. Yeah. They did not come out. Uh on that on that point, uh I was surprised by the I guess I’m not surprised, but the the seats tonight looked a little sparse uh for puck drop and then I was like, “Oh, you know, maybe this going to fill in a little bit.” Filled in a bit. Huge blocks in the lower bowl of uh of empty seats. um a guy that I was texting one of the a fan or listener who was texting me about World Series tickets and we he had some tickets or whatever. He lives in Florida. He texted me before the game. He was like two hours before the game and he texted me the the seat chart for like Can I guess what do you think lower bowl center ice was? Lower bowl center ice. I’m going to guess $78 US. 85. Uh there were some 29s in the lower bowl, 15 in the ends. There was some N. That was going to be my guess for uh Wait, nine bucks in the up in the upper deck. Yeah, eight bucks in the upper deck. Hot bed. Just an absolute hockey hotbed. Hey, maybe if the Leafs keep funding this team for the next 20 years, though. Honestly, like I thought about that like Canadians are way less willing to travel to the States. It’s like yeah, they’re not lining. They’re not. It’s like they put these games right around Christmas and right around, you know, April and March. They’re like, “Please come down here and pay our bills, Canadians.” And they’re like, “But I mean the Leafs are paying their bills anyways, which right?” Oh, yeah. No, but I just meant like for their actual seats. Yeah. But no, and yeah, a lot less blue in the stands, says Luke. And I noticed that, too. You could see it checkered through there, but it wasn’t And there was a couple of very silent go Leafs go chants because it was a very quiet barn tonight. But it is I’m sorry just if you care about hockey it’s so disappointing that a place with that much pedigree over the last couple of years and that has the Toronto Maple Leafs in town who you faced in the postseason the last couple years is lifeless and it just doesn’t matter. You could win a 100 cups in a row and they’re just not going to care like that. They are flat out one of the best teams of all time. Like they are in the conversation like in the in the 10 15 teams of all time. They’re one of the best ones and it’s just like they’re they’ve lost a few games in a row and just nowhere it goes. Completely sick sick fan base. Uh two other things quickly. Thought wall was really good again tonight as usual. Nothing crazy. But the thing that jumped out to me, they brought it up on the broadcast. I’m like, “Oh, their power their penalty kill has been good recently.” Yeah, because Wall has made 30 of 31 saves short-handed since he’s come back. Yeah, I think that finished at 31 of 32. That’s crazy. That’s I mean that’s how you have a good power play. I mean a good penalty kill. Yeah. Is your goalenderend stands on his head during the power play. So well that actually is now for the Leafs how you have a good power play is you just don’t let in a goal. So he So both things are true. That’s true. So uh I love them again. And I just you know I I’ve been a proponent of starting him every single night. I I wouldn’t mind giving the Hilda Beast a look to end the end the trip. Get him rested up. get him rested up for Saturday night against the Habs. Absolutely not. You’re 100% playing him against Carolina. Carolina is like a real test for you for sure. So, you played Yeah. You played the P Oh, go ahead. Oh, just like you played this Panthers team that you’re It’s I don’t care what anybody says how beat up the Panthers are. It’s still a measuring stick game in terms of the intensity and like, yeah, Florida didn’t get up for it. Who cares? The Leafs did. You can only play who’s in front of you and they played who’s in front of them well. They beat the Penguins, but there was a little bit of me going, “Hey, maybe they just own this team. Maybe this is just like a really good matchup for them. Also, Pittsburgh’s not exactly great shakes. I don’t care about the start of the season and yeah, Sydney Crosby’s amazing, but like you scored a bunch of goals on Sealovs and you got out of there with Yeah, it’s awful. Yeah, it’s it’s fine. But the Hurricanes, the way that they’re playing right now, that’s a good one for you where you’re building some positive momentum. You’ve got three out of your last four. Y like you’re not resting Joe Wool against the Hurricanes. not not even close and especially when he looks this sharp and frankly I would be sad if he was the type of guy that accepted that like I think he wants to play every night. I just think that like I mean how many he’s played every game except the the one on the second half the back to back. He’s injuryprone. Anthony Stlars isn’t even around. But when Stallers was out last year, he did this man. So I know. I’m just saying it’s an opportunity. End of a trip. Hild the Beast I thought earned another one with that start in Pittsburgh. I consider it. I consider it. I I I I’m prioritizing that game and saying let’s let’s let’s try to stay hot. Let’s keep this going. Uh I will say this too about Wool. uh refuses to let up the softy crap goal, right? Which is just so refreshing and makes you feel so much better about your team. But I did think the Leafs were tighter defensively tonight where Florida, even when they were getting their opportunities, Toronto was cleaning it up pretty quickly. There weren’t uh any obvious glaring mistakes outside of the power play that you pointed at and went, “Oh my god, can you believe that this is what happened?” That they were better supporting the puck. There weren’t as many bad turnovers. They were like winning battles on the wall, chipping pucks out, making simple plays. They looked more like a connected group. And again, it’s the Troy Stetra effect. Like he’s just he’s you put him in that lineup and all of a sudden the blue line’s fixed. But no, it’s just defensively as a team tonight. That to me was actually one of the biggest stories of the game. So, I’m glad we kind of came back to that. Uh I don’t think I’m even going to read that cheesy name that they put in there. It’s the worst thing I’ve ever read. Sorry. That’s trash, Luke. Ah, sorry, brother. I don’t mean to bury him, but I was I looked at it and paused, so I had to bring up that I was going to read it. Uh, last thing for me, a little just a fun one. Uh, Canucks paying all of Reman Larson. They were talking about it on the broadcast until 2031. You know how much the Canucks are paying him this year? Do you know? $4.71 million this year and next. I knew it was a lot, but I 2.1 2.13 until 2031 after that. Yeah. Yeah, that’s sick. If you can get it, bro. Yeah, that is sick. That guy like four point. So what’s he make from the Leafs? He’s making almost eight. He’s almost like Yeah, he’s making Morgan Riley money this year. He’s definitely the way he’s the way he’s been playing. That’s what he deserves. He’s getting paid correctly appropriately. I just poor Canucks, man. They like he was brutal there. I guess they had to buy him out or whatever, but 4.71 dead money on your cap to watch him be really good with both Florida and Toronto. Yeah. God, it’s tough. It’s a tough one. It’s a good place to go though is Florida when they’re playing that well to just kind of find your game again and Yeah. slot yourself properly in the You remember like Ebad was out that whole year and they he had well not the whole year like the first two or three months he played he played top four. Yeah. Yeah. That’s crazy. He was he was really good. And then all What did all the Vancouver Conucks fans say about that contract? Oh, you’re going to regret that. Boohoo. Boohoo. Guess what? Wrong again. Canucks fans as usual. Yeah, like most wrong fan base that’s ever existed. Anyway, uh yeah, uh by the way, I got Kevin Kirmire. Actually, I think I’m gonna move my I I interviewed Kevin Kermire today. It’s pretty good. We talked for like 45 minutes. Got some good stuff on Var show. Some good stuff on just Jay’s outfield defense and the stuff that he’s doing and also uh his rivalry with Polar, which was really fun. I think I’m going to move that to Thursday though cuz the most handsome men. Is that was that the rivalry? Dude, I’ve never looked. I actually was a bigger hunk. I hated looking at the screen cuz I had to tape it. Oh, you So you guys did it. You guys did zoom. You did zoom with Kier. Big mistake. Yeah, it it was horrible, dude. I literally wanted Mount Rushmore. Hunkiest guy to ever play in Toronto. Dude, I wanted to like go back to co times where you had a meeting and you did no camera cuz you were just not shaving. Cat filter. Disgusting. Yeah. Like I needed He’s sitting there in his mansion in Tampa and I’m sitting here be like, “What’s it like to play baseball?” No, dude. I felt like a total slub. It was a tough one. It was a good interview. So stay tuned from uh to my pod for that one. But I think I’m going to throw I’m going to throw BNS on tomorrow to talk about this Pon guy that they signed. Yeah. From the KBO. Cuz I texted Hey, listen. I texted BNS. I said, “Hey, do I move the pre-tape and I have you on to talk about this?” and he went, “Absolutely. I got a lot on this.” So, I’m excited. And then he also said, “I got more Bo and Tucker stuff.” So, so I uh that’s very exciting. I will listen maybe another half an hour of Jay’s content. You’re able to absorb. But uh I Avery from Gate 14 sent out a tweet about his about his 18 strikeout game in the KBO. So, I watched those highlights. He looks his finish on his delivery is Teeu Kevin Gosman. It looks so much like Kevin Gosman and his just his stuff is like the high heater splitter and he’s even got the long hair. He just looks like a offshoot Kevin Gosman. So hopefully he’s a quarter as good as him. Avery’s like the number one guy like as soon as Jay signs somebody or you want to watch quick on the sticks. He’s so quick on the stick. I don’t know how he does. He’s just all That’s That’s Gen Z for you, buddy. And I instantly retweet them every time cuz I’m like here comes the boomer retweet. Yeah, he’s the archavist. He’s just sitting there with the archives. He’s got everybody on tape. I love it. Kid’s got a great Twitter account, man. Good guy, too. Anyway, anyways, I just uh I hope he’s good. I just hope it means that uh Brios is gone. That’s what I’m really hoping for. Yeah, that’s what everybody’s hoping for secretly. And then you got to say things like, “Oh, but he could have a better season.” But no, everybody here’s what I’ll say about Here’s what I’ll say about Jose Brios. Go to 30 Jays games a year. See about one jersey every time. And it’s the giveaway one they had that one time. Not a popular tarp at the old dome. Here’s all what else I’ll say. I go to a lot of Luch games with you. We buy a lot of them in advance. Yeah. Who’s pitching tonight? Brios text back. That’s the reply. So yeah. Uh tune in for that tomorrow. Uh subscribe to this podcast. Leave five stars. Troy stretcher is gonna be all time name that random leaf in 10 years and I’ll have nothing but good things to say about him
JD, you as a Leafs fan, making fun of the Panthers as being a bad team is wild. They have more playoff series wins last year alone than the Leafs have in 10 years 😅 Enjoy paying the shell of Mathews for next however many years.
So many empty seats . 2 time Stanley Cup Champions and the arena looked half empty.
How about that Dakota Joshua boys! 🎉
What a surprise, fake hockey fans only care or show up when their team is winning…
Champs of the bottom dwellers. Let’s get the parade started
They should have done a lap of the e ice with a garbage can over their heads.
Thats my go to lineup.. has been since day1 .. lets go !
Dang, the Jose Berrios dismissiveness made me sad. The guy's a workhorse and competitive, shame about his injury.
Of course they looked great, they played a crappy team. Easy points. Let’s see how they are when they start playing good quality teams. Leafs are still on their easy schedule but that’s about to change
That pissed off attitude that Stetch comes with is what this team needs. For too long, there's been no sense of urgency. If he's going to command 24 mins and play as well as he did, just enjoy his play. Long term, still looks as though he can factor in, even in a limited role. This team is structured to have 3 d pairs rolling, that's what worked for them last season.
neither of these guys are funny and I wish they'd stop trying
Once again no points for Matthews or Knies versus the Panthers. Leaf fans will somehow make it Marner's fault.
No doubt the best game the buds have played this season. Hope they can keep it up, it's all about consistency. GLG
Troy's Boys lol
I said at beginning of season
Mcmann roy Joshua needs to be a line .
Berube better keep these lines together for more than 2 games. If they play bad 1 game ( it will happen) don’t mix them up and not play them again because of 1 bad game.
Knies was good? He cost them a goal and had many give aways
McKee is obsessed with the panthers fan base, you guys worship hockey in Canada and your stadium is called the “Library” check the attendance standings McKee, you guys are under the panthers and worship hockey 😂
I would Thumbs-Down JUST because of your dumbass "Troy's Boys" comment. Get a grip you guys. The Stetch Crew is far better.
nah, pretty sure Marchie was calling you guys "the idiots"
