The Carolina Panthers Know EXACTLY What They’re Doing..

I I will say this about Dave Canalis and the Panthers. They are a respectable franchise now. From one Carolina Panther once was to the current Carolina Panther. I’m proud of you, bro. Keep rocking and rolling. But these Carolina Panthers right here, they may be just four games away from hosting a playoff game. This Okay, here’s the thing, though. Okay, before I get into all the stuff, guys, they still haven’t seen our best football yet. For the first time since 2017, the Carolina Panthers might actually finish above 500 and make the playoffs. There may have been some significant detours on the road trip back to the top, but a division title is well within reach as the only legitimate threat in the South is the Bucks. Like only a year out from benching their first overall pick, they’ve finally got something cooking in Charlotte. From one of the league’s most underrated defensive units to an entertaining boom bust offense, Dave Canales’s group is built for close games, and that’s exactly how they like it. And because of everything that I just mentioned, everything we’re going to go over in today’s video is exactly why the Carolina Panthers know exactly what they’re doing. All right, Kri crew, we are back. And look, y’all know I’m a Saints fan, but I I can’t lie, the Carolina Blue is just so clean. Truthfully, didn’t think I was going to be wearing this hat at all this year because I didn’t think the Panthers were going to be that good. But that’s probably just me being a Saints fan. But here we are throwing it on my head because look, I’ll come I’ll come out and say it. I was a Cam Newton fan. I liked them back then. And guess what? The Panthers, I’ve always liked their colors. They’re cool. Just I’m a Saints fan. So, I truthfully couldn’t like them. Let me fix the camera real quick. Merry Christmas. It’s December 3rd. So, merry Christmas. Happy holidays. Whatever you celebrate, happy holidays to you. best time of the year because it’s just so nice out and everything. But make sure as always you guys are like, commenting, and subscribing. Sorry if there was a little bit of a mess back here. Got some packages and got got some Black Cat fours if y’all some sneaker heads. Y’all know what I’m talking about. Y’all see the shoes back there. But getting a little bit off topic now because really we have to talk about the Carolina Panthers because we didn’t really think and I again just like I made about the Bears video yesterday. I don’t think you could have told me that the Panthers were going to be vying for a playoff spot headed into this year. I thought Bryce Young was definitely going to come around and be a good quarterback this year, but I didn’t think he was going to be playing at the level that we’re seeing him play at this year. Like some of the wins against the I think it was the Cowboys, the Packers, and then who’ they beat last week? They uh the Rams. You got to be kidding me, right? Beating the Rams. That’s absolutely crazy. So, of course, we really have to flash back to a time of when a lot of people were asking, “What the hell are the Panthers doing right now?” Of course, ever since they picked Bryce Young as their first overall pick in 2023, Carolina has been a source of infinite intrigue and controversy. Like, how the hell were they going to make a 5’10 quarterback a viable starter in the NFL, especially when they drafted him as the centerpiece of a rebuild? And yes, a rough rookie year was easy to write off as a product of poor offensive weapons and protection. So out went head coach Frank Wright and came in Dave Canelis and a ton of offensive linemen, but it was still more of the same from Bryce Young under center. So things reached absolute rock bottom for the quarterback when he was benched in favor of a 36-year-old Andy Dalton. But that’s the thing. When everybody was kind of thinking that Bryce Young’s career was over when that move was made inside the building, I think truthfully he was intent on turning things around. He sees that opportunity to regain his duty, starting the final 10 games of the 2024 season, which were early indications of what Young actually looked like in the NFL. His 4-6 record in that span included twice as many wins as he enjoyed in his entire rookie season and a 15-6 touchdown to interception ratio, which was much improved from the 11-10 mark in 2023. But that’s the thing. I think everything that we saw from those final 10 games in 2024 were kind of demonstrating and showing all the fight and confidence that was still inside of Bryce Young and truthfully kind of the precursor for what we’re now seeing as his high scary ceiling in 2025. And look, Carolina’s defense last season was historically bad. So the Panthers wins came almost exclusively in shootouts. They won two of their last three games in overtime, a span in which Young contributed 10 total touchdowns and no turnovers. And yes, although this momentum didn’t carry over to the start of the 2025 season, once Bryce got over a slow start, he began looking every bit the part of an NFL franchise quarterback. And well, the craziest part, he seemed to come alive in the biggest games of the year. So far in 2025, he’s led the Panthers to wins over the Cowboys, Packers, and Rams, combining for six touchdowns and two interceptions in all of those games. Go back to Canales’s decision last year to sit him down. Starting quarterback, first player taken in the draft, middle of the year, he’s not playing well. He sits him down and you and I had many conversations about this. Is this the right move? And I said, “It’s the right move if it’s the right guy because he’s going to respond the right way.” And he has responded the right way. played better when he got his chance at the end of last year and come back he’s a different player and the word that keeps going through my mind he’s stronger right he’s stronger physically he’s stronger mentally he handles the adversities and in the big moments he’s making the plays and that’s the thing that logic speaks to a front office and coaching staff who knew exactly what they were doing benching Bryce Young was a major risk and either way it went it would have been instructive for this coaching staff and front office thankfully for them though he’s turned out to be the guy and although he needs to be a bit more consistent. There are some extremely encouraging signs in his game at the moment. Young’s improvement on the field has been fed by his unshakable confidence off of it. Like as Garrett just said, that was demonstrated in his ability to overcome the benching, but the quarterback’s everinccreasing role as a leader for this franchise has a large part to play as well. Like that was one of the reasons that Young was able to dominate the college game and win the Heisman was because Bryce himself was unrelenting. And it’s no coincidence that for the first time since he’s come into the league. We’re beginning to see that side of him again. And and like there were so many times we’ve talked about like it just don’t look like the same Bryce from Alabama cuz he was making plays, he was smiling, he was dancing, he was doing his thing. We didn’t see that a lot early in his career. We’re starting to see that again. And you know, regardless of who you cheer for, just being a fan of the game, you love to see guys out there that have been through some adversity find their way out and have some fun. And yes, it may sound trivial, like, yeah, he’s dancing in the locker room, whatever. But just look at Cam Newton and how happy he looks in this clip. Like, he’s looking at Bryce Young like he’s a proud father. Like, he finally sees his successor in Charlotte and it makes him so damn happy. Like, even if it’s not perfect, Carolina is now at the stage of their rebuild where demonstrable progress is what truly matters. The thing with the Panthers has been that they have not been consistent. They’ve been win loss win loss I think since like week seven or so. And so every time that you think that maybe you have the Panthers figured out, they’re still figuring themselves out. And that’s okay. How many times have I sat here and I’ve said look to make the playoffs that is icing on this season for Carolina that really just needed to get six, seven wins to show that they were trending in the right direction in the postcam Newton years. And look, that’s the thing too. Even if the Panthers have kind of struggled at being consistent in the recent years, one area of just Bryce’s game that he’s continued to kind of excel and get better at is just the comebacks that we see week in and week out from Bryce. His game-winning touchdown throw to Tedo McMillan on fourth down against the Rams made history, too. Not only was it a great demonstration of his arm talent with a gorgeous touch pass and some great protection from his O line, but this became the 11th game-winning drive of his career. And at 24 years old, he became the youngest player in NFL history to reach that mark. Like straight up, he’s clutch. There’s no way around it. And the recipient of that game winner, McMillan, elaborated on why. Yeah, I mean, like I said before, you know, his his his demeanor, his uh his aura when it comes to uh late drives is is contagious. Um you know, you know, the proof is in the pudding. He’s done it, like you said, 11 times. And so, um you know, the the fact that, you know, your your your leader on offense can do that, you know, speaks volumes for sure. Like when your teammates are seeing you have aura, you have to be doing something right. And T-Mac has a point. Before drafting Bryce Young, the Panthers had lost 56 games in a row while trailing in the fourth quarter. That’s a tragic record, but one that their new number nine has completely flipped on its head since he arrived. And it’s not just the rookie who’s impressed with Young’s demeanor. As veteran offensive lineman Corbett told the Panthers website, “You don’t just become the Heisman Trophy winner and number one overall pick for no reason.” There’s a deep, unbelievable talent in him and his ability, and you’ll never suspect it because he’s so calm and just that true SoCal kid. Yeah, we’re just chilling like it’s another day in the office, but just his fight, his ability to lock in and just just be a dog is incredible. And the calm demeanor he has in the huddle and just see the passion come out in those times of success. I love playing with him. It’s amazing. And look, straight up, we got to give the front office some credit because really, they’ve done a great job building around Bryce Young up to this point. All right, we got to take a quick time out to talk about today’s sponsor, Viori. We’re going to start off with the Shratech Polo, which is hands down my cleanest everyday top. And look, if you’re listening, Vori, you guys nailed it with this one. The fabric is ultra soft, moisture wicking, and lightweight. And it somehow works both for light training days and clean, put together lifestyle looks. And really, I just love I’m wearing it right now actually while I’m recording this. I appreciate how just much room there is in the shoulders up here. Overall though, the Polo is great for just staying sharp in different occasions, whether that’s playing around to golf, running errands, or just then heading to dinner after all of that. Next up though, we have to talk about the pants because the pants might even be better than the shirt. It’s the Metap Classic fit, and it’s my go-to for recovery days or when I’m just kind of running around. They’ve got that technical stretch that moves with you, but the silhouette stays sharp. Whether I’m heading to the gym, stretching at my desk, or just running errands, these pants fit the rhythm of the day without slowing me down at all. I mean, overall, just the Meta Pant is great for travel, or commuting wherever you need to go. And now, look, everybody, we all know it’s getting cooler. I can only imagine if you’re on the East Coast, what the weather’s looking like over there. But with it getting cooler, you have to reach for this jacket. It is the What is it here? The Beach HalfZip Beach Fleece jacket. I mean, it is amazing. It’s warm, soft, and built with recycled polar fleece. And it’s great for heading to the gym, walking the dog, or just cooling down after a session. It’s comfortable, and it doesn’t look bulky, which makes it perfect for that everyday wear. And really, I think just my favorite thing and why I always keep going with Vior and why I think you guys would love it is just how seamlessly everything feels and fits. Like all of these pieces I just mentioned, I’m literally wearing right now, and they’re intentionally designed for movement, but to look good for the rest of the day. Like I said with multiple examples, going to get coffee, just running errands, it works for everything. And look, of course, you guys know I had to come through for you. So, if you’re looking for gear that works in the gym and still looks clean everywhere else, shop these VORI pieces right now on their website. And firsttime purchasers can get 20% off when you sign up for emails. Again, that’s 20% off when you sign up for emails. Thank you to Viori for sponsoring today’s video. And let’s get back into it. You can see that, too, because in the games in which he struggled, their impressive rushing attack has taken over. Rico Dalo has been a revelation in Carolina, taking over for Chubba Huard, who has played second fiddle to the former Cowboy this season. Their offensive line has also done its part, allowing an impressive 12% rush rate, the third lowest in the entire league, while their 1.5 yards before contact per rush is similarly elite. They have been relatively average in pass blocking, which has been sufficient for an improved Bryce Young to hit his targets this season. And yes, of course, the target that I am talking about is T-Mac, who has looked well worth that top 10 pick. He may have taken his time to find the end zone, but this season, he only trails George Pickkins, JSN, and Puka Nakua for total EPA with the six most receiving yards through 13 weeks. That’s without even speaking of this defense, which is one of the most interesting units in the league. JC Horn signing a massive 4-year hundred million dollar extension was the story of the offseason, and he’s already topped his career highs for interceptions. Derek Brown was the other major star on this defense with the Pro Bowl DTackle also enjoying a career season after missing most of the 2024 season due to injury. I mean, even on paper, too, this unit looks about average. They’re 16th in points against and 18th in yards against. But look at how far they’ve come from last seasons. Like, these numbers are just remarkable. Like in 2024, not only was Carolina dead last in both of those categories, but the 534 points they conceded over the entire season was an NFL record. So, it makes sense they have more talent on this roster than they did in 2024. So, it kind of tracks on why they are playing better this season. But, it’s the way that they’re getting these wins that just makes this team so damn compelling to watch. Like despite being middle of the pack in terms of stopping the opponent from reaching the end zone, Carolina is a top 10 defensive unit in takeaways. And it’s not just JC Horn hoarding the interceptions. Everyone else is getting in on the action, too. This was epitomized in their statement win over the Rams in week 13, where the defense was already thin without Horn and Morg. Veteran safety Nick Scott picked off MVP candidate Matthew Stafford to start his first start as a Panther before CB2 Michael Jackson took another pick to the house. Hell, even rookie safety Leighton Ransom sacked Stafford before Brown strip sacked the Rams quarterback to help seal the game in the fourth. Even McVey had to give credit where it was due to a team that had been the laughingtock for years. So, you know, you give them credit, their fourth down execution, forcing turnovers. um we didn’t execute the way that we’re capable of. There’s certain things that we can certainly do a better job of collectively as a coaching staff and we are all in this together. Like that’s the craziest part that they were able to knock off the best team in the NFL. And I mean really they’re not going to play another team of that caliber until they come up against the Seahawks in the coming weeks. And the craziest part too is they’re now having their by-week this week in week 14. So, if they can get healthier and Bryce Young can rest up a little bit, why the hell couldn’t they go and beat the Seahawks then, too? Like, from what we’ve seen from this Panthers team this year, they can hang with anybody in the league. It felt like Carolina belonged. We came into this game saying that the Rams were the best team in football, but never did it look like Carolina was overwhelmed. Three of their last four games are against NFC South opponents who are very well matched against as former NFL GM Ran Cthorne sees it. Oh, they a real threat. They’re a real threat because they’re playing a brand of football that I don’t think the rest of the people in their division is is fit to deal with at this point because they they’re playing with a we don’t have nothing uh we don’t have anything to lose uh mentality. And that’s exactly the case. These Panthers have nothing to lose because they’re way ahead of schedule. That’s not to say that they’re done with this rebuild either, but the general feeling is that they’re playing with house money right now. Bryce Young is showing more consistent flashes of everything you would want from your franchise quarterback. The defense has also taken a huge lead from year to year with some of its most important pieces back and healthy and they have a very real chance of challenging Tampa Bay’s four-year reign at top the division. And look, it hasn’t been the smoothest ride, but Dave Canales seems to have finally studied the ship, and he has a team that can beat anyone with a young core in a very bright future. For a while, it didn’t look like that was the case. But now, the Carolina Panthers know exactly what they’re doing.

Today we will be taking a look at why the Carolina Panthers are shocking everyone! What looked like another season of disappointing/abysmal failure has turned into season loaded with potential.

  1. It feels so good too. My detractors at work are finally shutting their fat, wannabe-expert mouths, after spending two years calling Bryce a bust and saying Carolina won't have anything going until they move out of Carolina. I've had to defend them most of this season too. Only now are people finally staying silent, and I won a lot of untaxed money on the Rams game.

  2. Cam Newton was/is a joke…the best word to describe him…coward…in Superbowl 50 against Denver…he was scared, admitted this himself…ain't no room for fear anywhere in life…I've been Carolina fan since 1995…football fan since 1974…Cam Newton never measured up to the steel of mentality it takes to command the position of Quarterback. The world revolved around his narrow mind and turned out to be a super nothing!!!
