The Houston Texans Can Take Their Team to Another Level. Here’s How

Demo Ryans believes there’s a next level for the Houston Texans. How exactly do they get to that next level as a team? Plus, what the opportunity is for this weekend in Kansas City against the Chiefs and so much more. Your comments, questions, joys, and concerns. Welcome to the channel. I’m Cody Stouts. Let’s talk some Texans the caffeine this morning. little bit of uh instant coffee for you. And it’s um it’s not my best mix ever. And it’s still very hot, but I just wanted something a little warm, kind of cool this morning. I wanted to heat it up a little bit just like the Texans can heat it up to a whole another level. Demo Ryan’s this week talking about that Colts game. He was pretty pleased with it, as he should be. The Houston Texans have won four straight. They won four straight um to move to seven and five. Put themselves in the thick of the AFC wild card picture. Put themselves with an opportunity to make the playoffs as the AFC South champion as well as he should have been. He was pretty pleased. But he knows there’s just a little bit more to this Houston Texans team. I’m excited that we got we got the win. But I think the biggest takeaway for me is we left so much out there, right? And there’s still so many so many uh things where we can actually so many things we can do better. Um and you know, I know it’s tough to to say that, but it is some small things. Some things I know we can do better. Things we’ve worked, things we can clean up technique-wise, uh fundamental wise. I just feel like we still left a lot of plays out there. And that’s my challenge to our guys. It’s always how do you get better? They left a lot of plays out there in that game against the Colts. They still won though. What are some of those things they left out there? Well, the penalties were an issue both on offense and on defense. Kaylin Bolock getting a pass interference call even though it wasn’t pass interference. The ball’s 15 yards out of bounds. It’s uncatchable, but you know, okay, the officials throw the flag. Whatever. Texans got a makeup call uh on that a little bit later on. Some of the rushing efficiency wasn’t great in that one. CJ Straoud’s interception was tough. Uh the defense had maybe a hiccup here or there on some of the third and longs. There’s certainly things specifically from that game that they can clean up that if they clean that up, they probably beat the Colts by, you know, a good double digit margin and then some in that matchup. But this isn’t about just making sure that that game against the Colts plays out the way that it needs to play out. This conversation is about going to that next level, going past that. Hey, they’re a team that started poorly and got going and they’re kind of winning these one-score games and taking care of their business and they’ve learned to win a close game because remember earlier in the season 0 and three Seattle, Denver, they couldn’t win close games. Okay, they couldn’t win close games and they went on this little hot streak here where they’re winning these close games. Obviously, Jacksonville was a big comeback. They had to finish off Tennessee, the uh Buffalo matchup. They were able to take care of business against them. Like these close games, Indie is the most recent example. These close games and how uh they have to figured out how to win them. That’s nice. Don’t play as many close games. And to not play as many close games, the whole team’s got to go to another level. But how do you get to that next level? You’re already a really good uh defense. You’re already a good football team overall, but how do you get to that next level? Where do you go? What do you look at to get to the next level? Well, getting to the next level, step one for me for this Texans team would be CJ Strad just comes in here and just starts to continue to build off of what he did with the uh Colts situation and takes it to another level. We see some 2023 CJ Stout. We see a new version of CJ Strad that is as good as 2023, but does it maybe in a different manner because you look at that Colts game and his average yards per attempt, lowest in a win since Miami last year. Typically CJ’s driving the ball down the field a little bit more, but he lived over the middle. He won over the middle. He took what the defense gave him. If that evolution continues for Straoud and he continues to be even better than he was in Indianapolis, the Texans are in a great spot to go to the next level. If the Colts game that they just played is the worst game CJ Strad plays in his return from concussion, they probably win the Super Bowl. I I I I’m not out of my gourd here, okay? if that’s the worst game CJ Strad’s going to play for the rest of the season. What we just saw this past Sunday, they are a Super Bowl contending football team because if that was a pretty decent game, I know he didn’t throw any touchdowns. They got in the red zone. They were able to convert some of those late in the game, turn them into scores, and he was pretty efficient with the football. Had bit bad interception. But again, if that’s as bad as it gets and Strad’s got a level that is even better, he takes it to here, the team goes to here with what they can bring to the table with that defense. So CJ Strad to me is the key to this thing going to the next level because if that’s the worst game he’s going to play in his return from the concussion, they’re going to be just fine. Now, maybe he doesn’t need to be statistically excellent to have uh a for the team to have a great day against say the Las Vegas Raiders, the Arizona Cardinals when they come to town, whatever version of the Los Angeles Charges you play later this season. Okay? Maybe he doesn’t have to be statistically awesome, but take care of the football. Don’t make mistakes. Get him into a little bit uh a better play here and there. Make sure everybody’s lined up so you’re not wiping off a Christian Kirk 22 yard. um reception with a illegal formation. But Straoud to me, he’s the top thing that makes me think, okay, go to the next level. Because if he’s awesome, he drags everything else with him. And if he’s awesome, he can overcome maybe everything else that’s a part of that offense that hasn’t quite clicked, that hasn’t quite been consistent. Okay? If he’s awesome, they’re going to go about things and they’re going to take care of business in a very solid manner and they’re going to have some noncore victory victories in the coming future. So to me, you want to go to that next level as the Houston Texans, it’s up to CJ Strad to kind of bring that to the table. Next level quotient or piece or element number two, this offensive line. They’ve settled in on the offensive line and you’re not going to find anybody more critical of their offensive line strategy than Wah. I hated the way they approached the offensive line in the offseason. I didn’t love the decisions that they made with free agency money. I didn’t love the decisions they made with passing up trades for players that were available. I didn’t love the decisions they made in the draft with their offensive line. So, you’re not going to find anybody more critical of their offensive line approach than me. the way that they started the season, shuffling, the rotation at left guard, uh going back to Lake and Tomlinson after they’d shown that they didn’t need to go to Lake and Tom. There’s a lot to dislike about how they’ve done things, but they’ve started to find level and level for this offensive line is much better than last year’s level. The offensive line performance against the Indianapolis Colts was pretty much in tune with how they blocked for Davis Mills. And if they can put that on paper and they can continue to put that on paper week after week after week, Strad can survive and thrive with that level of blocking with the offensive line. Now, they still have a couple of things in the run game that I’d love to see. A little bit more consistency, a little bit more in the whole part of the game and not just the second half when they’ve kind of tired out an opposing defense and leaned on guys, but that offensive line has grown from the beginning of the season to now. They deserve credit for trying as many things until something fit and something seemed to work. And that’s where they are as an offensive line right now. You can go watch the people that cut up clips of the game and you could see them showing plays that earlier in the year this offensive line didn’t have any chance in hell in stopping and now this offensive line, you know, they’re blocking it really nice and they’re blocking it really well. How has that turned into a strength for them at times? How have they kind of leveled out as an offensive line? Well, Ryan has a little bit of an explanation for why the O line settled in. It’s credit to the coaches uh starting with Kaye and the offensive staff that they did they’ve done a really good job of really emphasizing and walking through the pressure looks that we’ll see and credit to the players. They executed it the right way. I think Woody has stepped up and did a really nice job, you know, in protection. He’s improved the protection, how we’re communicating up front. Like it’s we did a really great job, probably one of our better jobs yesterday of of picking up the blitzes that they were bringing and kind of got them out of some of those blitzes. And not just picking it up, I thought CJ did a great job of answering some of those blitzes, getting the ball to Nico on one down the field on a deep end cut. So, it’s it’s collectively coaches, players, everybody working well at it, but it starts how we practice, how guys are attentive to the details in their meetings and walking through to fix some of the issues that we had earlier with those blisters. Yeah, they definitely had some issues early on in the offensive line. Hats off to everybody he mentioned there for figuring it out on the offensive line and not staying as a uncompetitive unit like they had been at different times earlier this year. So CJ Straoud to me, that’s the biggest thing about going to the next level. Uh the offensive line checks in right behind him. The guy that uh coaches up CJ Strad coaches up the offensive line, Nick Kayley, he’s the next thing for me that you think about getting to that next level. You think about the Texans being even better on offense and meshing and jelling with that defense. Nick Haley’s got to continue to improve and Nick Haley’s got to get really good. Um, and I maybe get really good is probably not the way to say it, but avoid the low floor that he has showcased for this offense. Now, I thought there were some nice moments against the Indianapolis Colts. I thought there were some moments where the play call allowed CJ Strad to maximize his talents or Strad was just taking what was there because the defense had a good play. Uh they were able to finally get into the red zone and score after a really yucky early red zone performance. I thought there were some nice moments from Nick Haley. Still not good enough. There’s still too many uh predictable runs. There’s too still too many runs to nowhere from this offense. And maybe sometimes the creativity is a benefit, but you know, if Nico Collins gets tackled five yards uh behind the line of scrimmage on an endound in the red zone, we’d all be killing Nick Kaylee today. So I don’t know that I loved that. just they got to get better on offense overall. Straoud’s going to help. The O line settling in is going to help. But Kayle’s got to get better at what he does. He doesn’t have to be excellent. You don’t have to be the best offense in football. You don’t have to be one of the five best offenses in football, but Nick Kayley’s got to do his job better. And any improvement that he has had in recent weeks, it needs to continue and it needs to stack on itself and it needs to become an exponential level of growth for him. But again, he has to avoid that low low floor that we have seen from him from time to time. That low low floor. De Mo Ryan, he was pretty happy with some of the offense from that game against the Indianapolis Colts. Offensively, I feel like we’ve moved the ball, you know, really well. Uh, and of course, we can still get better in in the red zone as finishing with touchdowns, but I think we’re we’re moving it well. That’s it. Always starts there. You know, whatever you want to do offensively, you got to move the football. I thought we did a good job on first down, mixing in some of our play action passes, running the ball. Thought it was a good mix of plays on first down. That gave us the the advantage there. We were able to get some explosives on first down, passing the football. And so, you know, you keep pressing forward, you keep trying to get as many yards as possible, get in the red zone, and then that’s where, you know, you try to strike and score score points. Get in the red zone, try to strike, score points. And when you get to the red zone, it’s got to be a little bit better. I know that they were able to score the pitch to Chub, the end of round to Nico Collins, but it’d be nice if it you didn’t have to get super creative or you didn’t have to do stuff like that. Just get in there and get in there in short order. Now, to Nick Kay’s credit that both those drives once they finally got down there and he went to that play, they did get in there in pretty short order. Kayle’s the guy that, you know, he’s got to steady out, level out, and find a acceptable level for what he does. him taking the team to the next level is not so much about growth, improvement, being the best at what he does. It’s really about avoiding that low floor that potentially is there for Nick Kay. Finally, how do you take it to the next level? Miko Ryan said there’s even more for this team. How do they go to that next level? Not just clean up the mistakes and and beat the Colts by, you know, 10 instead of four. Okay. How do you go to that next level where you’re kicking people’s ass, you’re dominating? Well, even more D. Okay. Even more from the defense. That Josh Allen performance that he put out there, that Buffalo Bills offensive performance that they put out there on Thursday Night Football. If the Houston Texans can consistently do that to opposing offenses and maybe even add in some more terrorizing of opposing offenses. Look, it’s already really good, but if they clean up third downs, they clean up some of the big plays, I don’t know how teams consistently move the football against them. And if teams can’t move the football, teams can’t score. And if teams can’t score, the Houston Texans aren’t losing football games. So, as I think about the offense primarily is how they go to the next level. If the defense just really, and I’m I’m being nitpicky here because if they just kept the same level of defensive performance rest of the year, I’d be fine with it. But if they had just a tiny bit more on defense, then bam, you go to the next level and you’re never looking back. Okay? You’re never looking back. They clean up some of the the third downs that they’ve allowed. They clean up some of the big plays they’ve allowed to let teams get into um situations where they can score, then man, the Texans are going to be in a great a great spot as a team. a great spot as an organization going forward. So, you factor in all four of these things, a little bit more from CJ Strad, the O line stays steady, Kaye stays out of the bear trap, and the defense just gives you a little bit more D, little bit more D. Super Bowl contenders, easy. Super Bowl contenders taking care of their business for the rest of the regular season, so on so forth. So that’s how they get to the next level. You know, their good performance against the Colts. Samo Ryan wants to clean this up, clean that up, but I want them to go to the next level. How do they get there? Straoud the O line continues to play well. Nick Kayley avoids the bear trap and just get you a little bit more D from the defense. And there you go. you find yourself with an opportunity uh as a organization to go not only where you’ve never gone before but where you were hoping to go uh for a long long time. Okay, I like that. Good to see you. Abraham, Abraham, Abram, I think it’s probably Abram. Colton, appreciate you. So happy I’m finally making time to catch one of these live for once. Appreciate you. A little caffeine. Cody, although my coffee is still too hot and I burned my tongue at least three times. Score predictions? Well, they’ll come your way in the uh Houston football newsletter Sunday morning. Okay, Ponelios, good to see you. Panda, appreciate you. She says, “Hit the like button.” Of course, Panda’s got the custom emojis because she’s a member of the channel. Quibs Cody, did you see you could pay for Rockets and Strow standalone games now from Space City? Wish the NFL did something like that. I mean, they kind of do, but not for local people. Like, you can’t watch the Texans locally on Sunday Ticket, but if you don’t live in Houston, uh, or the areas they consider to be Houston markets, you can. But, but yeah, Space City Network going individual, that’s great. 20 bucks a month to watch Stros and Rockets, and it’s going to be people gonna be pumped about that. People gonna be pumped. Good to see you, Christopher. 21 Savage. Appreciate you, Ashton. First off, morning, Cody. Also, turns out you were the third channel I watched the most this year. Congrats to you. Thank you for watching, Aston. Of course, uh YouTube doing a a YouTube wrapped this year. So, certainly appreciate wherever I may end up in your YouTube uh wrapped rankings. So, appreciate you. Christopher notes that clock management has to get corrected. Yes. And I I do I think clock manages management is more about getting in the way than going to the next level because if you just scored more points it would matter less. If if you were ahead by 11 Ryan’s kicks the field goal was up by 14. You know you’re ahead by four. He tried to end the game. You know if you’re ahead by 10 if you’re ahead by seven you turn it into a two possession game. That’s what he wanted to do. I wanted to turn it into two possession game was his message on Monday. Um, if you score more points, if the offense is better, if you allow more because the defense is better, like you don’t have to worry as much about clock management. You don’t have to worry as much about going for it on fourth down. John Mlan’s chains on CJ needs to get rid of the ball when nothing’s there. Yeah, don’t hold on to it too long. Don’t hold on to it too long. Uh, is there a way to switch my name back to normal? Been a while since alive. Yeah. So, here’s the thing. YouTube made the decision to change to handles versus name because they believed you can’t imitate somebody if you use your handles. So, unfortunately, that’s a YouTube decision. That’s not a Cody Suits decision. Cody Sts would like for you to have your name. Uh, but the YouTube decision uh has overrid the Cody Suits decision. Cutting out penalties in the red zone go a long way. Yeah. No more holding in the red zone where all of a sudden you’re like, “Oh god, they’re not going to score now.” So, cutting penalties first, you have to draw a play, get a touchdown first. Yeah. I mean, look, they got to they got to get a little bit tighter on penalties, but part of that’s Kaylee, part of that Straoud, you know, getting them into the play, getting them to line of scrimmage, knowing where everybody needs to be. So, that kind of gets covered in Kaylee and uh gets covered in in Straoud and the take it to the next level. Uh, Quattro, Patrick, good to see you. Patty, good to see you, Jerome. For some reason, I don’t trust the Texans going Kansas City and beat the Chiefs, especially all the TV people, expecting them to have to see it before I believe it. Totally valid response. If you say, “I have to see the Houston Texans go to Kansas City and beat the Chiefs before I believe the Houston Texans can go to Kansas City and beat the Kansas City Chiefs,” it’s a totally valid response. Totally valid feelings. Okay, I certainly get it. I don’t believe they can beat Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens until they do it. Okay, I know they beat the Ravens this year, but certainly when Lamar and there was missing players on defense, but yeah, I certainly understand why you would feel this way, Jerome. Shocker. Jerome doesn’t have any optimism. Mr. Finger Guns, imagine having a two-score lead with this defense. Would love to see that, right? Wouldn’t that be nice? Um, unleashing hell with Will Anderson and and Daniel Hunter and some of those blitzes and the other pass rushers. Wouldn’t that be nice? Nick gets Nick needs to get it together. Chiefs are going to rush CJ and get him frustrated. That’s part of CJ. It’s part of the O line. It’s part of Kaylee. Got to be ready. Got to be ready. 22 V. Texans will have what it takes to win it all. Chiefs will be good competition. They can’t outlast the Texans. I like the optimism. I like the optimism. All the national pundits are picking the Texans over the Chiefs, which kind of worries me, to be honest. I’m not worried about it. I’m not worried about it. I bet you a lot of the local pundits are picking the Texans, too. Hint hint. Landry said, “Y’all’s new nickname is the Spank Boys.” Okay. I That is not a Cody Studs approved nickname. That is not a Cody Stuts approved nickname. All right. 22 Vos got the Kool-Aid going. Okay. He got the he, you know, he is bought in. All right. The the the battle red uh deep steel blue jug is firmly in each hand and he is pouring it. At this point, I don’t see a team that could beat the Texans. I love it. I love it. I love the optimism. And look, you shouldn’t be afraid of any of these teams in the AFC. You shouldn’t be afraid of any of these teams. Momes is a little scary, but outside of that, the teams you play for the rest of the season, but you look at the playoffs like Drake May. This line’s a hold up for Drake May against the Texans. Bon Knicks. The Texans would love another shot at Bon Knicks. They’d love another shot at Bick. CJ love another shot at finishing that game, beating the Denver Broncos. Okay, the Colts, don’t worry about them. Jaguars, don’t worry about them. Ravens, Lamar’s a shell of himself. the Steelersh, you know. So, yeah. I mean, you shouldn’t be freaked out by anybody in the AFC. I’m think of switching my kicker and fantasy because Ky is not good in the cold weather. Uh, you know, we’ll see. We’ll see. It’s It’s not a bad idea. The national media knows the Chiefs are supposed to have three O lineman starters out. Yeah, the we’ll look at a practice report today. Uh the first of three, but the Chiefs should be missing their allp proight guard Trey Smith, their right tackle, Jawan Taylor, and their left tackle Josh Simmons. They should be missing them. LP King, the 63 safety. Any good? I assume you’re talking about speed the safety, not speed the linebacker. Uh he had a special teams tackle and I I I don’t know what else he brings to the table. I mean, he was hanging out on the street when the Texans grabbed him, so you know, hit that like button. Yeah, a little thumbs up there. Dino with the super chat. He jumps to the front of the line. We win by 15 if we don’t get our tonsils tickled. Did I miss a Did I miss a comment from Andy Reid about tonsil tickling? Did I Is there Is there a comment that I missed here or from the Chiefs or something? We’re going to try to tickle your tonsils on every play. Okay, there you go, Andy Reid. Little That’s a little descriptive Dino. Thank you for the super chat. Yeah, no tonsil tickling to win by 15. I get it. I get it. JBL Allen the Annihilator. We had a fire alarm go off of the job. Now I missed the first team minute 15 minutes of the show. Hey man, you can catch up. That’s fine. It’s fine. The league’s top teams from previous years are not as dominant. The league’s wide open for a new champ. The Texans could be that team. I I don’t know. 4408 again. Love your optimism. Love your optimism. The Texans could be the Texans biggest challenge. Honestly, is there anyone out there in safety to be a good addition? I don’t think so. I don’t think so. You know, I I I don’t I if there was a free agent, I think they’d have probably brought him in by now. You know, it didn’t sound like Demo thought Jaylen Reed was going to miss a lot of time. It didn’t sound like he thought, you know, Jaylen Reed was missing for for a long time. So, I mean, he’s not playing this week. He broke a metal plate in his arm. So, Gunny, good to see you. Appreciate you for jumping in. He says, “Texans all the way.” JJ Sugar, we beat the Chiefs. We’re going to the Super Bowl. I don’t care. I like your optimism, JJ. I like that. You know what? Whose side is Caceria on? Stealing a little Bobby the Brain Heen from that. Whose side is he on? Do you know I’m joking? Of course. Nick Cacer would love nothing more than to go to the NFC Championship and beat the New England Patriots. Imagine if the Texans beat the Bills, Ravens, and Kansas City all in one season. Okay, you kind of beat the Ravens. I mean, you did beat the Ravens. It doesn’t quite count as a beating the Ravens because you beat Lamar, but if you beat Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes in the same season, not many teams can do that. Not many teams can do that. How many alignment heard for the Chiefs? At least three. Good day, Cody. Do you let your viewers email you about t-shirts, Mitch? Yeah, send me an email. My email is in the description of this video. Uh, we’re working on shirts. I promise you. We’re trying to find the right type of shirt, the amount of shirts, and everything. We’re working on shirts. Let the defense do what they do best, right? Wouldn’t that be nice? Might be a channel setting for the names. Other channels still show the usernames. Not sure though. As far as I know, it’s not a channel setting. I’ve gone through every little creass of the YouTube settings to try to find it. Yeah. Don’t shoot yourself in foot with penalties. The illegal formations drove me crazy. What the hell’s going on with that? Yeah, you can’t have that. You got to clean those up. You got to clean those up. And if you clean those up, that goes a long way into helping that offense, too. Imagine if you added a 22 yard Christian Kirk play in the middle of that drive. Instead, illegal formation, erased it, put you back behind the chains. Three Ducks says, “Beat the Chiefs, go to the Super Bowl.” Wouldn’t that be nice? Look, you beat the Chiefs, you’re definitely uh in a great spot to go to the playoff. I mean, look at this. Texans playoff chances with a win on Sunday. 85% 85% with a uh win on Sunday for the Texans playoff chances. Just 46% if they lose, but still pretty good. Still pretty good. Especially pretty good when you consider that the playoff chances for the Chiefs is 51% if they win. Texans 46% if they lose. Chiefs 51% if they win. And then of course you can get the Chiefs close to resting in peace for the 2025 season if you beat them 11%. Yeah, they can climb out of that. Yeah, Patrick Mahomes can can maybe uh will them to a playoff spot, but it does not look good for the Chiefs if you beat the Chiefs on Sunday. They just they are shot and they’ve lost some games they shouldn’t have lost. you think back to uh the hiccup that they had in Jacksonville. Denver sneaks past them at the end of the game. The Cowboys um are able to finish them off on Thanksgiving. Like they’ve just lost some games they should not be losing. Um and certainly if they were the Chiefs as we know them, maybe they wouldn’t be losing them. That doesn’t seem like they are. Doesn’t seem like they are the Chiefs as we know them. JB Allen, Sunday night’s going to be lit. It’ll be at my local tavern wearing my Strow jersey. going to be surrounded by Chiefs fans. Couldn’t ask it for any other way. Hey, just uh just make it out of there. Okay. All right. Make it out of there. Okay. John Mlan’s chains. Do you like the Cade bend over tush push? We’re not calling it that. I like the Stoverd dozer or the Stover shove, but I’m not doing the Cade Bendover Stover tush push name thing. I like the play. They shouldn’t have run it back toback plays. Like the play enough. Demo Ryan said he liked the movement and that they got on that first third down run of it so they decided to run it again. I didn’t love that but yeah. Trill kicks. Love you Cody. Love the work as well. Keep it up. Thank you Trill. Appreciate you my friend. Thank you for the kind words. JJ Sugar Broncos will get handled in the playoffs one way or the other. I’m betting against them every every step of the way for the Broncos in the playoffs. Hey Cody, my man, joining you from the gym. Hey Jerry, get that workout in, man. That workout in. Look at that. Got the get the flex in there, too. Get the workout in. Let’s see here. Mixon’s retired at this point. Yeah, don’t be don’t be anticipating that uh Joe Mixon’s coming back. Don’t be anticipating that. See what else we got here from the comments section. How are you doing? Spank boy number two. Okay, again, not a Cody suits proved nickname. The spank boys. Not not a Cody suits approved nickname. Uh yeah, we go to Spankies for live broadcast. Also going to be at uh BB’s Tex Orleans this Friday. So this Friday, December 5th, December 19th up in Kingwood. Okay. We’ve been on the southwest or uh yeah, the southwest side of town with Spanies, but we’re going up to the northeast side of town with Kingwood. So arrive at 3 live at 4 out there. BB’s in Kingwood. They’re going to have us set up in a great area. Uh we’re going to have the the live show out there. It’s going to be a lot of fun out there uh at BB’s Tech Orleans out there in Kingwood. So I’m very excited to get out there and see everybody on that side of town. So uh please come out and see us. We got the Voodoo Happy Hour that’ll be there while we’re there. And uh that Tex Orleans cooking, woo, is good stuff. And of course when crawfish season gets here, they’ll be your crawfish destination. So come see us Friday at BB’s Tex Orleans in Kingwood. Uh Jesse says, “Hey Cody, according to YouTube and my re yearly recap, uh the locker room SNL, Texans Talk, and according to YouTube, my yearly recap has the locker room, SNL, and Texans Talk is my top three most watched channels this year.” Hey Jesse, appreciate you, man. Hey, we we put out plenty of content, so appreciate everybody that watches them. Uh watches my channel, watches Landry’s channel, The Locker Room, and then certainly watches SNL. We have a lot of fun on SNL each and every day. six o’clock tonight. Uh the Wednesday is the late day, so six o’clock tonight for SNL. So, I appreciate everybody. It sucks because Jaylen Reed was looking like a steal relative to where he was drafted. Yeah, I like Jaylen Reed. A lot of people thought he could have been a day two guy and the Texans got him uh late in day three. And I was excited to see him once he finally got healthy and got on the field and he had that big game uh where he got pressed into action against the Bills and uh I was excited to see him against the Colts and unfortunately you know he got hurt and now they’re going to kind of roll with Miles Bryant and Jaylen Mills right now Ryan’s said on Monday he said yeah I don’t really see uh I don’t really see you know the need to go outside the building for this so we’ll see what Miles Bryant Jaylen Mills can do. Gustavo with a super chat. If the Texans win the Super Bowl, Cody can officiate my wedding. Hopefully the offense can get these long drives going, help the defense stay fresh. Okay, I I’ll do it. If the Texans win the Super Bowl and uh the Mes is okay with it, I’d be happy to officiate your wedding. I’ll get uh what is it? Certified or ordained, I think is the word I’m looking for. I’ll get ordained and everything. So, I’d be happy to do this, Gustavo. I’d be happy to do this. Couple of things about winning the Super Bowl. One, if I do this, um, I will get out of the way, uh, so that the pictures look good. Uh, when when I now pronounce you, uh, man and wife, you may kiss the bride. I’ll get out of the way. Uh, two, if you followed the channel for any amount of time, you know that if the Texans win the Super Bowl, I have decreed I will do a 24-hour live stream. Now, YouTube only allows you to do 10 hours of live stream at a time, so we’ll schedule them out. We’ll do, you know, 10, 10, and then four. But, I will do a 24-hour live stream. I don’t know how I’m going to do that, but I will do a 24-hour live stream. Maybe maybe I’ll figure out a way to, you know, play Madden with people for some of the stretch. Um, we’ll go over some of the moments um, you know, from the season and all that, but we’re we’re ahead of ourselves. Take care of Kansas City this weekend because appreciate you for the uh, super chat. Appreciate you for the offer. I mean, I would I’d be happy to I’d be happy to Uh, do they have to take Jaylen Reed’s arm plate out or do they have an on-site welder? Uh, I think it just gets replaced. I would think you do replace. I don’t think you want to weld that thing back together. So, I would guess you just probably go with a replacement there. Okay. Probably go with a replacement there. Well, that’s a good question. Good question. I have to imagine they do like for things that break at Energy Stadium, they probably have to have some sort of welder uh on call. 21 Savage defense has proven themselves to me. Offense hasn’t. I’m apprehensive about any Super Bowl excitement as you should be. Until this offense puts together consistency at a high level or acceptable level for multiple quarters and then multiple games in a row, you shouldn’t believe in them. You shouldn’t believe in them. Okay, Tazwell’s in. Appreciate you. What are we going to do at safety? Looks like it’s going to be Miles Bryant and um looks like it’s going to be Miles Bryant and uh Jaylen Mills for right now. I didn’t see Alpha Aaron report um any workouts. So, nothing there. Is it possible to resign Joe Mix with Woody Marks carrying the load as well? So, Mixon’s under contract next year. Uh he’s under contract for next year. It’s the final year of his contract next year, I believe. Maybe he has one other year, but anyway, they save eight and a half million by getting rid of him. And he’s coming off of a major foot injury that kept him from playing all year long. So, I don’t know that you would keep Joe Mixon. So, uh I believe Joe Mixon’s played his last snaps as a member of the Houston Texans. We’re consistent offense away from winning the championship. Certainly. Certainly. And if you want to uh win big this holiday season with the family, get you some Texans Turf. Get you some Texans Turf. Uh from putting greens to play areas, always green, always clean. Texans turf.com is where you can see the great portfolio. And look, when you put turf down in your backyard, when you replace that hard to maintain and manage grass, you increase the value of your home. And you get your Saturdays and Sunday mornings back because you don’t have to go out there and trim and run the lawn mower and your neighbors hate you because you’re running the lawn mower early because you want to get it done to watch college football. None of that happens when you have Texans turf. Dan the man can come in there. No job too big, too small. It’s customized to exactly what you want. Maybe you want just a little strip of land between you and your neighbor, so neither one of you have to worry about mowing it anymore. Dan the man can do that. Maybe you want a whole soccer field. Dan the man can do that. Texans Turf can do it all. Check out texansurf.com and you can schedule that free estimate right there on texansurf.com. Any murmurss about Jimmy Ward? I know Demo had no update. I I it’s been a long time since I’ve seen Jimmy Ward in the building. Um and I don’t anticipate Jimmy Ward coming back anytime soon or if he does come back being a factor having missed so much of that time. So Oline might need to put Stuts in. Looks like he has a nasty back shuffle hands as well. I got tiny hands for an offensive lineman. Uh compared to like most offensive linemen, I got tiny hands. I think I have smaller hands than I should have had because I broke my wrist when I was in kindergarten. I broke both my wrist at the same time in kindergarten. So, I have smaller hands than I think I should have. Um, I played Dline when I played my little bit of football that I did play. Uh, they didn’t want to put me on the O line. I don’t know why. Um, I was terrible. I was bad football player. Uh, I was also, let’s see, when I was going to go play like pee-wee football or whatever, young, like, you know, whatever. Uh I was six and I was so big as a six-year-old they wanted me to play with the nine and 10 year olds and my mom was like no thanks you’re gonna play baseball and then uh I played baseball for most time growing up. Then I wrestled in high school like a tiny like like a spring of football. So they don’t want me on the O line. I am a large as an O line. I’m larger than most O linemen, but they don’t want me on the O line in the stream telling us your Harry Potter hostage situation story. Okay, I’ll I’ll I’ll add the context to this and I’ll I’ll save this to make sure I get to it. Rich boy Jay with a good question. What was your best Christmas gift as a kid? Good question, Jay. Um, I think back to to two specifically and you know, my my you know, Mama Stoots and my grandma, they were too generous at the holiday time. And um, we’re going to do some we’re going to do some give back stuff here for the holiday season. Um, on this channel and on SNL as well. Um, but I think about two. I got a Megazord, the the Power Rangers Megazord. When I was a kid, my grandma knew someone that worked at Toys R Us as a kid that lived down the street that she’d babysat growing up. He worked at Toys R Us. He went to the loading dock, got one of his buddies that worked at loading dock to hide the Megazord in his locker. Grandma went to Toys R Us. He went to the locker, got it, put it out, she picked it up, bought it for me. So, I think about the the Megazord when I was a kid and then when I got an N64 that was incredible. So, um yeah, Christmas always been uh you know, my family’s always been very generous around Christmas time and I have the opportunity to give back some this year. So, I’m excited to give back uh a little bit this year. It’s a good question, Rich Boy J. So, we’ll have some details and stuff like that. Um you know, we’ll have some details and stuff like that a little bit later on as we go. Speaking of giving back, speaking of giving back, my friends over at uh One-stop Card Shop. Now, if you’re saying to yourself, Cody, I never heard of One Stop Card Shop. Well, they’re brand new. They’re brand new. They’re over there in Bair and we really don’t have a a card shop, you know, for football cards and baseball cards and Pokemon cards and and stuff like that. We really haven’t had one of those. um in uh you know the Bair area and Westw and the southwest part of town for a while, but my friends at Onetop Card Shop are brand new. This is their Instagram account, okay? Onestop Card Shop TX. They’re right there in the right smack dab in the middle of Bair. They’re giving something away this week through the channel here, okay? Through the channel. And I love what they do. They got a great spot. Um, you know, one-stop card shop. You They’re open. They’re ready for business. But we’ll tell you how you win this, but they’re giving away a numbered a numbered CJ Strad. Let me see if I can get this to focus in the right way. They’re giving away a numbered CJ Strad football card for you. Okay, I’ll tell you how you can win tomorrow and we’ll do the drawing on Friday. All right, but a numbered CJ Strad football card and then someone else is going to get another CJ Strad football card. So, uh, we’re giving away two CJ Strad football cards and they got some fantastic stuff. If you’re looking for cards this holiday season, stuff like that, one-stop card shop’s the place to go. Tell I’ll tell you how you can win tomorrow. But somebody is taking home this fantastic CJ Strad football card, okay? Because of my friends at OneTop Card Shop. So, I appreciate them for donating that to give away to the fine folks of this channel. And we’re going to have some fun with OneTop Card Shop over the next few months. Lots of fun stuff coming your way from the football card universe. JB Allen. I’m not thinking wild card. I’m thinking AFC South three Pete. Colts are slipping and the Jags will jag. Why not dream no little dreams? And and look, they’ve got a shot to absolutely win the AFC South. You need a little help on the Jaguars schedule. You need somebody to upset them. And you obviously have to take care of your business, but yeah, why not? Why not? Fans are funny. lose three in a row, tank for a pick, start doing mock drafts, win four in a row or win the Super Bowl. Why not? You know, that’s that’s how that’s how people operate sometimes. That’s how people operate sometimes. All right, couple more here. We’ll wrap it up for the day and then got practice today. Press conference with Miko Ryan, CJ Strad today, and locker room. And then we’ll have SNL for you tonight. I want to say it’s just the Chiefs and don’t matter. Not playing the Chiefs, playing the refs, the league, but for America. It’s the biggest game in franchise history. No, but it’s one of the bigger regular season games that they’ve had under Mico Ryan. Certainly one of the biggest regular season games under Demo Ryan. Yeah, for sure. Parti, good morning, Cody. I faith the boys to overcome Kaye. Uh they will win in this eyes. No pun intended. Has Super Bowl written all over it, brother. I love it. I love it. Okay, couple of active roster moves here. Solomon Bird and Air Speed to the active roster. Jaylen Thomas and Xavier uh Thomas back to the uh back to the um practice squad. Jaylen Thomas is back. Uh the other guy’s brand new. Uh Kevin says, “I want a break from lunch.” Good to see you. Hey Cody on the toilet listening to you a little bit to tmi maybe uh air speed he’s up I mean maybe can help with the defensive backfield a little bit had a nice special teams play uh in that game against the Colts and then um Solomon Bird the birdman what happened to that boy um the Birdman back on the or in the mix here I say back on the roster he’s never been on the 53 got promoted from the practice spot last year but he had some really nice moments early part of training camp so Maybe somebody’s a little dinged up there on the defensive line. Have to see. Um, we’ll have to see what the practice report looks like. Ashton took the number two and spank boy number two too seriously. Again, not a Cody students approved nickname. When are you coming to the valley? Mallen and Edinburgh. It’s okay. I mean, we can put it on the list. Put a little little SNL caravan together. I know there’s some folks in San Antonio that want to see us and certainly some folks in Austin, but okay. We’ll see what we can come up with. John John, may Cody, may God always bless you, Cody. Hey, same to you, John. Same to you, my friend. Uh, let’s see here. What did the uh Texans sign the Honeybadger? False. Did not happen. Did not happen. Spank boys, official voice of the Houston Texans. Okay. All right. JBL Allen. My top five was Jake Asmond, Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show, SNL, Seth Payne, and locked on Texans. Houston football’s number one in my heart, though. Well, number one in your heart, I guess. I guess I guess we get to live with that. I guess we can live with that. I’m going to go see the Spank Boys at Spankies this week. Well, you’re not going to see us at Spanies this week because we’re BB’s this week. All right, BB’s this weekend. Kingwood again. Spank Boys. Unapproved nickname. Unapproved nickname. Got Got to include the wedding on the 24hour stream. Yeah. Well, there’s there’s all different I mean, we’ll put together the best of clips and stuff like that. So, yeah, the 24-hour stream be crazy uh this afternoon like two something. Cody, don’t talk down yourself like that. You uh you’re a nice handsome fellow. You kick it during the wedding and look good doing it. No, no, no. I I I do feel confident in in my looks and that I would look good in the wedding, but just when you’re the uh person that does the ceremony, when they go to kiss, you got to get out of the way. You got to get out of the way of the picture, you know, so that you’re not sitting in the picture like looking at them kissing. You got to get out of the way. Too many people don’t get out of the way when they when they go to, you know, for that first kiss. So that’s what I was saying. Is Ward still a meth? That never happened. Okay. That was an accusation in a civil lawsuit. Okay. Um, that was an accusation in a civil lawsuit. That is not to be believed. Jimmy Ward, the man, the meth, the legend. That again, not that didn’t happen. That didn’t happen. Uh, did you grow up in Houston? I did. I did. Uh was in Crosby for a little while, you know, right outside of Houston, but Houston for most of my life. Only watch streams when I’m on the in the bathroom. Okay. All right. Chiefs are really good stopping the run on the first down. No way we run the ball effectively and then Kaylee will not be able to function. We’re going to lose. It’s just the truth. Well, happy Wednesday to you. Um so they use the play action a little bit on first down and and throwing the ball on first down is not a bad option. It’s a passing league. throw the ball on first down and, you know, you can have some uh success, you know, so uh it’s not crazy that they’ll just go throw the ball a little bit, but yeah, they have to run the ball more effectively. They were leaning on the Colts late in that game. Uh it just they haven’t leaned on guys early in games. Gustavo, anyone got assigned football this year? Let me know. Uh send me an email, Gustavo. I’ll try to chase down what you’re looking for. I know I know people that can get them, you know, but send me an email and we’ll see what you’re looking for. I’ll see what I can do for you. You know, at least get you a lead on one. Watch the Jets defeat the Jags. Well, wouldn’t that be nice? Wouldn’t that be nice? Fires like a Tomlinson. We’re going to the Super Bowl. Yeah. Funny how that works, huh? Funny how that works. Cy better be kicking outside in a swimsuit this week. See? Yeah. Cy in the cold weather. Not a Not a match made in heaven. Not a match made in heaven. Uh, did you dress up as Cyclops or not? I did not dress up to go to the movies ever in my life. Okay, Landry is making that [ __ ] up. Okay. All right. Not reading that Jimmy Ward one, but the chat can see it. watching while driving a water burger for my lunch break. What’s the waterburger order? What’s the waterburger order? See, Tazwell knows the priest was standing there when I kissed my wife. See, you know, you uh you got to get out of the way. When you’re when you’re the person does the ceremony, they go to kiss. You gota get out of the way. We’re just meththing around. Stop it. Jimmy Ward didn’t do meth. Jimmy Ward did not do meth. Okay. Couple of housekeeping notes. All right. Couple of housekeeping notes. BB’s this Friday. BB’s this Friday. Kingwood. That’s the address. Just type in BB’s Kingwood. Find it. Okay. The Voodoo Happy Hour with the Budan nachos, the half off dozen oysters, the frozen discounts, the, you know, the discounts on beer BB’s Tex Orleans this Friday. Okay. Don’t miss out on that. All right. Check out our friends at Sleeper, TDCU, Texans Turf. Have a new sponsor tomorrow. Okay. new sponsor tomorrow with, you know, we got some stuff that, you know, as gentlemen, we need to take care of. We’ll tell you all about it tomorrow. So, new sponsor tomorrow. That’s not super exciting for you, but I think it’s a it’s a useful sponsor that I feel like you should, you know, if you’re one of the gentlemen in the chat, you should maybe check them out. Also, tomorrow, how you can win this CJ Strad football card from my friends at OneStop Card Shop. how you can win the one-stop card shop CJ Strad numbered football card. Okay, somebody else is gonna win this and I and I’ll throw in some other cards uh you know some other cards that I have in my collection. So, somebody’s going to win some cards tomorrow. Well, somebody’s gonna win some cards Friday. I’ll tell you how you win them tomorrow. Okay. All right. Uh SNL tonight, six o’clock. SNL tonight at six o’clock. All right. And I think that’s good for the housekeeping. Okay. So, Tazwell said, “Can you end the stream telling us your Harry Potter hostage story?” And I will. So, this came up because Landry said, “I dressed up for movies.” I don’t dress up for movies. I’ve never dressed up for a movie. Okay. I do go watch a lot of movies. I love going to the theater and I’ll watch damn near anything. Okay, I love going to the movies. Um, but I’ve I’ve never dressed up for the movies. And if you dress up for the movies, so be it. That’s not my jam. I like to be as comfortable as possible. I wear literally workout clothes to the movies. And I just sit there in the comfy chairs and eat my popcorn, drink my large soda, and get my free refills and drink more. It’s great. Okay, Harry Potter is one of those like things that got po I I’ve never consumed any Harry Potter. I’ve never read any of the books. I’ve never watched any of the movies. I don’t know anything about him. Okay. I have like a I have a small understanding of what Harry Potter is. in college for a journalism class because I like sports. My teacher had me go cover the Quidditch college team from Texas Tech play the Quidditch college team from Texas. I don’t know a lot about Harry Potter. Here’s what I do know. Here’s what I do know. I know that when that last book came out, that was a big damn deal. When the last Harry Potter book came out as a big deal, I owed a buddy of mine a favor. Okay. I can’t even remember why I owed him the favor, but I owed him a favor. And he said, “Hey, I’m working.” So, I’m calling him my favor. I said, ‘What’s your favor? He said, ‘I have the, you know, the prepaid, you know, spot in line for the midnight release of Harry Potter. Can you go to Borders Books and get the book for me and then drop it off at my house? And I was like, what? He goes, yeah, yeah. is, you know, you’re going to be in the third group that could buy the book and yada yada yada. And I was like, okay. I mean, I owe the guy the favor. He’s calling in the favor. I got, you know, I got to be good on my word here. All right. Okay. And uh so I go to Borders and I’m waiting. I’m waiting and people are dressed up and people are pumped and they’re doing they’re singing songs and one person has like a DV portable DVD player and they’re watching the movies and I’m just sitting around and I I just went in the magazine section and I’m just like, you know, I’m flipping through the magazines. I’m just waiting for my section to be called. He’s in like section C or something. So, I was there for about an hour, you know, and then I get up to the front and they’re like, “Okay, you know, I hand over the slip. I go, I’m buying this for my friend, you know, I’m not Mr. for so and so. This is and she’s like, “Oh, that’s fine. You know, you have the slip. You’re good.” And um I go, “Hey, listen. How much are these books?” And they were 35 bucks or what whatever they were. And my buddy giving me the money. He wasn’t he wasn’t making me pay the for the book. He gave me the money for his book. I go, “Okay.” I go, “How many books can I buy at once?” She goes, “Oh, you can buy three books at once.” And I said, “Oh, really?” And she said, “Yeah.” I said, “Well, let me buy three books then.” So, I bought my buddy his book and I put it in the, you know, I put it in my I had a backpack. I put it in my backpack and I had his book. I had two other books. And so, I got out of line and I’m standing in the middle of Borders and I’m holding up those books and I go, “Hey, if you want to skip the line, I got two books right here that you can buy and I’ll only charge you 50 bucks to not stand in line.” So, I’m making, you know, I’m making 30 bucks on this thing if I sell both these books at 50 bucks. And everybody kind of looks around at me like, “What is this? What is this? What’s this guy talking about?” I go, “Look, I got two books. 50 bucks for the book. You don’t have to wait in line. You don’t have to worry about it. You You get to start reading the book.” The Borders lady comes over and she says, “Get out of here. Get you can’t do this. Get out.” So she kick she kicks me out. So now I’m standing out front. And now there’s I mean there’s a line of people lined up outside, too. And I go, “Hey, 50 bucks. You know, you don’t have to uh you know, you don’t have to uh wait in line.” And everybody just kind of looks at me like I got two heads. And I go, “All right, well, if somebody didn’t buy this book, I’m just going to flip to the end and start reading.” And they still look at me like I’m crazy. And so I literally flip to like the next to last chapter and I start reading. And I’m I mean this these people have waited all this time for this book. It’s the end of the Harry Potter series. And I’m at the back of the book. I’m about to spoil the book for these people in line that are trying to buy the book. And I’m flipped to the and I start reading and this one girl jumps out of line and runs to the back so she can’t hear me. And one guy goes, “If you shut up right now, I’ll buy one of the books.” And I said, “All right, well, here we go. Cool.” So I walk over there, 50 bucks, got him the book, and uh I had the other one. I said, “Anybody want the other one?” And I go to open it and someone goes, “Please don’t do that again.” And then this guy walked up behind me. I happened to know him. I think I knew him from Smoothie King or something. Happened to know him from from one of the jobs. He was a He was a guy that like a regular. And he goes, “Hey, what are you doing?” I go, “Actually, I’m selling this Harry Potter book. What are you doing? I’m guessing you’re here to buy a Harry Potter book.” He goes, “Yeah, is that the line?” I go, “Yeah, that’s the line you got to get in. You don’t have like a prepaid ticket?” He goes, “Nah.” I go, “Well, I’ll sell you this one for 50 bucks.” He goes, “All right, cool.” Hands me a $50 bill. I went on my way. I made some money, paid my debt, took my buddy his book, and went home. There you go. There’s my Harry Potter hostage story. So, I told Teswell, I’d tell. And so, there’s my Harry Potter hostage story. Oh, so there you go. Read them a spoiler. Yeah, I was trying I was trying to get that. I was trying to unload those things. I was trying to unload those things. A students pays his debts. I was on that one. I did. On that one I did. Pretty dick move to be honest with you. Yeah. But I mean, you know, I got rid of the books and I I had no intention of reading an important part of the book. I could I scanned the paragraph, make sure it was just kind of like setting up the scene or something. I wasn’t gonna spoil the book for those people in line. But it got it got the books moving. You’re lucky you didn’t get turned into a toad. Yeah, with the with the wizards there, you know, they could have put a spell on me. So, all right, that’s the Harry Potter hostage story. U those people were willing hostages. They could have got out of line at any time. Just like that one girl that ran to the end. Hope she got a line a spot back in line. Uh all right, that’ll do it for the show. Uh, SNL tonight, six o’clock. Um, show tomorrow. Show Friday. We’ll do the check marks on Friday as well. And don’t forget, we’ll tell you tomorrow how you can win a uh some football cards, including the CJ Shroud numbered football card. So, there you go. There you go. 1. That's easy to find, the only chance they have of taking the next step rides on the right arm of CJ Stroud, if he plays great then they are the favorites in the AFC imo, if not, they're just another team led by defense that will fizzle out in the playoffs.

  2. Congrats Stoots, you are my 3rd most watched channel. Love your content. Been watching for 3-4 years (ever since the Jake Asman days). Everyday. Looking forward to more.

  3. I think we can win out. But focusing on what’s ahead of us, where mahomes excels is where we struggle, and that’s 3rd/4th and 7+, both across the middle and especially on qb scrambles. We have to contain that, get home on the rush and tackle well. If we do that, and our offense just looks competent, we got this. Hate that it’s so much on the defense, but that’s just what it’s gonna be this year. We don’t have a true RB1 on the roster and we’re not going to overcome that (Caserio put the ceiling on offense in April), but we can squeak by with CJ slinging it

  4. Another thing, maybe the play calling overall is just predictable, but I have an increasing suspicion that we have a pre-snap tell when we run, especially inside.

  5. Yooo! First time I'm hearing about this Space City streaming service. Been hoping they do that for forever. Awesome!! Will subscribe once football season is over and I cancel NFL plus again lol.

  6. It's crazy to think that at our worst, we're still able to compete with anyone. Offensively, we're moving the ball consistently and the OL is blocking much better. Redzone is our weakness. If we sure up that, this team is really scary
