Minkah Fitzpatrick meets with the media | Miami Dolphins

guys are coming off the buy. Nothing like coming off the buy with a win. Historically, you guys have done pretty well coming off the buy. Um, just talk about taking on the women’s end some of these wins together. Yeah, I mean, we got one game this weekend and we got to win it. That’s it really. What’s the dynamic of the secondary when Douglas is back in the line? Yeah. Um, having a guy like him back is uh extremely extremely helpful. Um, he’s a guy that’s played a lot of football. Uh, he knows the game well. Uh, I feel like we have a lot of reps uh under uh under our belts together. Uh, so it’s good to have him back. Not to say that the guys who were in form didn’t play well. They all played pretty well. So, um, you know, we’re just happy to have have back. You guys actually go way back as Jersey guys. You guys were recruits coming up around the same time. Uh, yeah. We we trained a little bit together and my dad he trained well he’s a trainer now and uh he trained Sula a little bit back back when he was in high school. Did that all make uh coming together easier you being you here and then him also joining just a couple weeks before the season? Yeah, it’s always good to have a familiar face around. Does winning three out of four and the fact that you all have a postseason chance do do you think that’s added any energy in the room? Has it lifted spirits? Any impact? I ask the same question every single week. No, no, I asked about you specifically before, but but I mean for the group in this case, we got to win this weekend and that’s that’s that’s what matters. What happened in the past is a pass. Whether we won or lost, you know what I’m saying? We got a game to win this weekend. It’s going to be take put out this weekend and we got to play at a high level. Uh whether we were in the playoffs or not or had a playoff chance or not. Unrelated thing, I asked Jason Marshall this week about who’s sort of taking him under his wing. He mentioned you. I thought he might mention a corner. Is that something that you do a lot with younger players? And if so, why do you do it? I mean, I think Jason Marshall specifically uh said that because you know, I I played a lot of nickel um you know, in the in this league already. Uh I played it a whole lot this season. So, uh you know, we both been kind of learning the nickel spot uh you know, in this system together. Um so, I’ve been and he he came in and and that’s kind of what he was playing right away. So, uh, I was working with him a lot and just as a as an older guy, uh, on the team, um, I think it’s important to take guys under under your wing and show show them how to be a pro. Uh, show them how you do things. You got guys like Elijah Campbell and if he like you don’t want to learn from, so you want to bring No. Yeah. So, I think it’s important. Yeah, it’s important to bring those guys under your wing and teach them what it means to to be a When you look at the Saints this week, what do they do that you feel like you guys can capitalize on? What do they do well? What do they do? Um, I think they have a really a really solid uh front front seven. Um, you know, they’re they’re they’re physical. They’re they’re guys who who played a good bit of uh a good bit of ball. Uh they have an identity of like of being physical. Um you know, with the with their running backs and with uh number seven, um even even the quarterback um he’s a bigger guy and they use him to run the ball. Uh you know, similar build to like Josh Allen. He’s a guy that’s hard to bring down. So, kind of just had that that that identity of like no matter how this game turns out, you guys are going to uh uh feel us at the at the end of it. Jack Jones after the game in Spain said one of the things he’s had to tone down is his aggression, which is kind of one of the trademarks of his game. How have you seen him sort of find the right balance of when to use that aggressive nature? Yeah, it’s I really think it’s it’s a it’s a toning down of his aggression. Uh, I think aggression is is needed if you want to be a successful uh defensive player in this game. Uh, it’s just knowing when to to do it and when not to. You know what I’m saying? And I feel like uh uh Jack has has um has figured out when to be aggressive and when not to.
