I personally am all for it except the casino
I’m fine with the park and the hotels anything that brings something to that area that aren’t 10 blocks of chop shops and an abused dog. I am absolutely 200% against a casino or any sort of on site gambling at all. It has no place in the game. I’m fine with legal gambling but, it should be legal the same way pot or tobacco is legal. Casinos should not be on the same campus as the team’s stadium, it should be regulated to hell, it should also be taxed to hell, otherwise there’s no fucking point to feeding the addiction of some degenerate loser gamblers, casinos should have absolutely no presence near schools, they shouldn’t be allowed to sponsor local athletics. They should have to have a warning on the front doors that warn the consumer that gambling is a highly addictive activity and should be done at one’s own risk. The only other habit I can think of I find more repulsive than gambling are coke and meth.
Fuck this casino imo
Not a fan of this
Reddits anti casino but I’m a fan. I like gambling and I’m excited to see what the area looks like.
I will never, in any lifetime, support billionaire-owned casinos. I don’t care if he owns the Mets or not.
The casino is what pays for all the other stuff that you like
If you want to make money with a brick and mortar building in today’s day and age, your best bet is building a casino. If drive in movie theaters and bowling alleys made a bunch of money, you would see people building hotels and bowling alleys, not hotels and casinos.
Remember Shea Stadium? The Polo Grounds? Or Ebbets Field? All were built in neighborhoods. The spirit of baseball is that it is a sport meant for the people of the neighborhood. A place where you root for your hometown heroes. Baseball has changed dramatically since those fields were torn down and it seems like every year a baseball stadium is closer to a amusement park then watching baseball. I feel putting a casino next to the stadium diminishes Citi field and our team. The Mets will NEVER make it to a championship again because they will be just like the Yankees…meant for a corporate audience.
Casinos are fun you dweebs
I hate casinos but I also acknowledge that there is a reason Cohen is willing to lose hundreds of millions of dollars each year from the baseball team, and that is because the baseball team creates opportunities to make that money back elsewhere. The casino is the elsewhere. So instead of higher ticket prices, you can watch the game, then go gamble your money away under the guise of having fun to pay for the rest of the payroll.
development is good, but not all development is created equally. casinos are bad.
Hate this. Hate that Connecticut resident Cohen has this as part of his plan for queens
I’m very excited to see the whole thing after it’s done. It’s much better than the old chop shops and the boring scenery we got now.
as someone born and raised in flushing, i’m scared of what casinos could do to the town. yeah it’s gonna bring some improvement from what we had but this is potentially very dangerous.
I don’t like gambling so I don’t gamble. The impact on parking is going to suck. But there’s other projects involved here that should benefit the surrounding area. I won’t say I’ll never go to the casino but I’ve never been to a casino and don’t have much interest in changing that.
I am not a fan of casinos because they get a substantial portion of their money from people who can’t afford to gamble.
I don’t gamble but I’m excited for all thin and fine with a casino. All these complaints would be a lot stronger if we didn’t live in an era where you could gamble on your phone 24/7
I really don’t like sports betting being legal but if it brings money to the area and pays for some good free agents, I’m in!
