Harbaugh On Herbert Surgery & Eagles Prep | LA Chargers
Any update on Justin? Is uh how’s he doing? Is he going to practice today? Um not going to practice, but uh he’s hadn’t missed a beat. Been uh everybody back today meetings and uh out on the field for walkth through and um I think you’ll see him out there practice today. So he will practice today. I don’t think he’s going to practice practice, but he will be out there for practice and you will see you’ll see him out there. Yeah, you’ll see him out there. any clarity as far as Monday night or is it still going to be sort of a a day-to-day situation? Uh, yeah, see how the week goes, but um, yeah, doing good. Trey will get all the first team practice. Yes, coach Ken Miller South Black Journal. I want to ask you a question as relates to the quarterback position itself. Uh, I’m of the opinion that it’s the hardest position in sports to play. Uh, if you’re in agreement with that opinion, why is that the case? And why are some guys so elite and others just no matter how much time they get, they can’t be successful at the position? Um, I I mean I’m not I don’t disagree uh with with what you’re saying and uh there’s a lot of a lot of hard things in sports. My dad always said hardest thing in the in sports was was hitting a baseball. Uh I I definitely think playing quarterback is uh it’s right up there. I mean, you’re you’re you’re touching the ball every play. Um it uh you know a lot of responsibilities. You’re the you’re the leader of execution uh both run and pass and you also have the added responsibility to make make sure your team wins. Um so there’s a there’s a lot that goes into it. Jim, this time of year and you have so many games down the stretch against good teams or teams fighting for the playoffs. Do you have to re-emphasize the competitor’s welcome mantra or is that just you know ingrained part of you know getting through this this time of year? Enjoy enjoy the competitive season. The most competitive um I call it the competitive season. You know there’s the holiday season. This is the this is the competitive season with the Brad and competitors are welcome and playmakers with with Brad Boseman. uh mentioned when we talked on Monday that you thought it was one of his one of his best games. Felt like he was pretty clean, pretty impactful in the run game. Um what do you think went into that uh for him in that game? Do you think he benefited from getting some time off during the by-week toss get a little bit healthier? What do you sort of think about that? I it’s it’s the healthiest our line has been u since Joe uh’s injury, Joe Alt injury. Um, it’s 10 guys who’ve started um that are that are on the roster. I think I count 10. Uh, and we knew that would bode well. Um, as may make us, you know, make us make us stronger, uh, more battle more guys battle tested. Um, and goes to the, you know, competitors are welcome. Um but also Brad Brad Boseman played one of his his best games. Um so did Zion Johnson who’s really stacked each week uh in that regard. Mai Beckton uh you know one of one of his his very best. Trey Pipkins uh you know played extremely well key blocks and so did Jamari Sawyer. Uh, and these are these are NFL players, you know, these are uh um even even to refer to I mean I I can’t even bring myself to refer to uh you maybe they started the season as a as in a backup role, but um try telling that to an NFL player, you know, like uh that these are these are high elite football players uh that have have gotten their opportunity and um and and and they’re playing as you know healthy and together and um you know good. So like I said a lot of guys battle tested that bodess well for us down the stretch here. But with Brad specifically, do you feel like health was a little bit of a factor there? Yeah, I think I think that that benefited uh that was a that was a benefit for for Brad and and um many of the guys on the team. And just with Jamari at left tackle, I don’t mean this in any sort of like a huge story way. I’m just sort of curious about your thought process. He’s proven at various times in his career that he can be, you know, functional at left tackle. Why did you guys wait until, you know, after the by-week 13 to to give him a shot to to start there? Uh well, in the middle there was there was a time where he was working through something. Um there was a time where he was uh you know really he was the sixth offensive lineman um use using in the interior um and that’s when Joe was Joe was healthy at uh at left tackle but uh yeah since then and and uh yeah increased health that uh that has been that has been the move move him exclusively over there to the the left side and at tackle Um and yeah, probably uh you know having him when when it it was very difficult I think and difficult on him when he was right guard, left tackle, you know, doing both of those positions and so uh yeah, take responsibility for that and uh could have uh could have done that better um had I known that Joe was uh you know wasn’t going to be there. So, is he going to be there the rest of the year? That’s that’s been the move. Yeah. Just just with him, obviously, he’s played a decent amount of guard for you for previous regimes. Feels like his best football has always come that at left tackle. What what about him in that spot do you think leads to more consistent play or is it sometimes with a player where they just have a knack for for a certain position even if like you know athletic traits wise or measurement wise measurables they might not be like your prototypical player um yeah I mean that uh first of all I mean versatility is a good thing be able to play guard and tackle or be able to play uh center and guard. Um you know, you um versatility is a good thing in an offensive lineman, but uh yeah, I think he’s just a good football player, you know, to um so whether whether at guard or tackle, um yeah, he’s good football player. What challenges take one for him? Uh elite, you know, uh the uh I always like I mean, you just see it, right? I mean, uh, and I think the guys that play running back at the at the highest level, I think they crawled out of the crib, you know, being able to have being being really good at that and having the instincts um not not have played I didn’t play running back um but admire the position and um you know the athletic ability, the instincts, the vision, the balance um you know some of the best athletes in the in the world. Uh, and that’s, you know, that’s Saquon. John, I know set for Monday, but if Trey were to have to go, what what do you like about his game, what he brings to the offense? Um, I I mean, a lot um I said that just that presence that he has when he’s out there, calm, cool, collected. Um, you know, put in put in that position. uh he was calm, cool, collected and um and goes about his his responsibility. That’s the quarterback’s, you know, that’s his job. Be the leader on the field uh and the leader in terms of executing the the run play or the pass play with efficiency and um securing the ball and added responsibility of making sure that we win. Have you been impressed by him at all this year and obviously play, but I don’t know in your interactions with him. He’s always a guy came had ups and downs throughout the league, like what’s he been like this year and have you been impressed by him at all? Yeah, I’ve been very impressed. Uh what’s he been like? He’s been he’s been uh an NFL quarterback, a competitor. Uh he’s he’s been there every day. Uh and he always uh you know comes to every meeting, every every practice prepared like he is going to be the starter in the game. Um so that that list and other things physical ability, presence mentioned that a lot of good. Uh, I know Herbert is dead today, but is there a day that you guys are aiming to have that decision? Uh, as we always will, we’ll have a game status uh toward the end of the week. Friday, I believe, is uh Saturday. Thank you. Thanks, Josh. My esteemed associate Josh Rupre. The game status comes out on Saturday. And I’m wondering how different has this week been for Trey like knowing that he might have to be going out with the ones. Not one different not a no difference than last week or the or the week before that uh you know that that’s that’s the point. He’s been he’s uh he’s come in every every Tuesday, every every Wednesday, every Thursday, every every Friday, every Saturday, every Sunday uh with a with a mindset to get himself prepared to play in the game. And um which is always the best strategy. You know, better be better to be prepared and not have your opportunity come than have your opportunity come and not be prepared. When we talked to Justin after the game, He seemed not worried at all about playing. Has anything for you changed to make you worry about him not playing since then? Oh, just same same as uh see how the week goes and uh so far so good. You know, he’s been been uh here today like hasn’t missed a beat. matter of him being able to protect himself or just only being able to play in a shotgun position that maybe you guys wouldn’t be comfortable with if you had to go through that the whole game. Kind of what are the the factors there? I think you saw those factors uh you know this past Sunday, you know, and uh credit to him. I mean came in and uh and didn’t miss a beat. If you guys if he is limited in practice, how will you guys sort of approach the the game plan of figuring out if he can play under center, how much he can play under center um and then also, you know, implementing some of the physical stuff that you guys did on uh on Sunday. How you approach that if you maybe can’t get a lot of reps in practice? Yeah, I think we prepare for for everything and uh and um and yeah, prepare for everything. prepare for all scenarios. So, schematically, you’re preparing your game plan as if Herbert is going to be under center. And if he’s not under center, what adjustments do you have to make? How much time do you have to make to make those adjustments? Could you repeat that? I got confused there. So, if if Herbert going to play, are you preparing this week that he’s going to be the starting quarterback? Yeah, we’re we’re preparing. Uh we’re optimistic that that’s that’s going to be the case. So game plan this week you’re practicing as if he’s going to be playing. And if that doesn’t happen, is there any adjustments you have to make? Well, we’re going to put and and Trey Lance uh will be will be preparing the same exact game plan for both for both quarterbacks. What’s your approach when you face a team like the Eagles that hasn’t necessarily played its best football at least of late offensively? Do you try to mimic what other teams have done to them or do you kind of prepare for what they could be, you know, potentially explosive the way they have been? They’re nine and three. They’re the division leaders. They’re the they’re the reigning world champions. Uh it is nothing but respect and we are grinding through the tape to uh to uh find things to offensively uh that will work, get first downs, be able to move the ball, uh be able to put points on the board. Very very challenging against this defense. Um, and in terms of defensively, um, you know, it’s a it’s a team that can run, throw, uh, dynamic quarterback, playmakers, uh, at the receiver position, the tight end position, uh, the running back position. Uh, it is it is comprehensively a great football team and, u big task for our team that we are very excited about. Do you look at Eagles at all as like a measuring pick? Every NFL team is good, but given how good they are in the trenches and how you want your team to play, you know, tough, physical up front, do you look at them at all like the standard up front? Um, every week that’s the way we look at it. Yeah. It’s a it’s a it’s the biggest game of the year because it’s the the next game and u and every every week is is a measuring stick is a test for your uh football team. Jim, where have you seen Tulie Tulie Floyd who improved the most over the course of your time here? In in uh in about every in about every area uh you know of his game. I mean, the um ball moves, he moves. Uh you know, being able to uh defeat a blocker, come to a point, strike a blow, control the block, uh shed, run to the ball, uh as relentless as any player I’ve I’ve been around. Um you know, and with great gifts of of physical tools, but an elite trainer. uh at uh in football, you should I I know I’ve suggested this before, but you should try to get Justin, let you get back in there. Uh you know, and watch him get ready for for a practice. It is uh it is great. Ben Herbert might. Ben Herbert might Tulie might might do one of those uh you know like one of those. We’ll shoot some video for you. Yeah, they got I see them do that with uh with players. What do they call it? Uh what do they call that when they do a follow a guy around and you know day a day in the life you know in the day a day in life with with that would be a better Yes. You don’t know how you Okay, you said it. We’re going to Okay. Okay. Not in place. That’s all I need. All right. Mario gonna be in yellow this week. Uh I don’t know. I don’t know. Be honest with you if he’s going to be in yellow today. Uh yeah. I just don’t know the answer to that. But we’ll find out soon enough. We’ll be out there in the field in 45 minutes. That question can be answered. I think it’s nine stars. 10 stars overall. One of them is Joe. Okay. You counting Foster Sel. Bobby Hart. Trey, Bobby Hart, Deculus, Jamari Foster. That’s not You’re right. because Andre hasn’t started a game yet. Stand corrected. Can you speak to the progression that you’ve seen from Kamani so far and if his role will have to continue to be more of a presence? Who? Oh, Kamayan. Can I speak to what? the like the progression that you’ve seen from him uh leading up to now. Yeah, I I would I would answer that question by the proof is in the pudding, you know. I mean, just the way he’s played uh it has uh it’s been great. Uh he’s played like a like a number one back and um shoulders square in the hole. I mean, which which really leads to an efficient run. uh the the yards after contact. I mean the 11 yard swing route that he that he caught in the ball game. I mean that was I mean one of the one of the best warmed the cockals of the heart to watch him take on those two defenders, you know, deliver the blow, be the aggressor, bounce off of that. Now he’s on the sideline. Uh staying inbounds, going shoulders square, uh you know, to the goal line and then get hit, you know, on one leg, put that leg in the ground, get the other, uh step in the ground and drive for the first down. But uh you know, there’s he’s been uh he’s been he’s been great. Um K McDonald deserves a ton of credit who coached that position uh for us this year. Phenomenal coach. Uh and Kammani, you know, his his patience, you know, his ability uh you know, to find the crease, you know, attack the line of scrimmage, find the crease, you know, get through it. um and protect the pass protection has has uh has been great too. He’s uh he’s just doing everything that u you would you would want. How would you describe your confidence that Amar plays on Monday? my confidence that that Mar will play on F. Um ramping up and with in consultation with the doctors uh we will uh that that that question will be answered as as the week uh unfolds and um we’ll have a game status for you on Saturday. Um but uh yeah, he’s what can I tell you? He’s been he’s he’s on track looking good. looking really good and you’ll be able to get get a look at that today. You know, it’d be out there. The only question now is whether be in yellow. Yellow.

The chargers need to get a better back up quarterback
“We’ll see how the week goes” good answer coach, keep the Eagles 🦅 guessing…….Justin or Trey?
Jim is not spilling the beans about anything other than what the NFL head office requires.. 😅
Please for the love of God get your team properly prepared to play hard on All Phases and don't embarrass us on national TV
0:50 “What a stupid question, what a stupid question to ask, but I been watching you, you ask a lot of stupid questions”
– Donald Trump
He's just trying to keep it secret, that Herb 🌿 ain't playing this week…. No reason to tell the Eagles, until Sat.
Wouldn't mind seeing Lance in there for QB sneaks if necessary or 4th and 1 situations. Herbert is gonna be limited under center. Probably shotgun and pistol all game for him.
Start using Trey for short Yards and like taysom hill!
one of the more interesting coaches to listen to – hard to find a coach that 'truly' loves the game – Coach H is one of the best!
Usually dislike poppers questions but he asked them more to get an actual answer not just rage bait and I felt like Harbaugh actually gave some answers in return
GURANTEE WIN IF O LINE STEPS UP 😭
Salyer should have played left and Alt should have stayed at right. I have been yelling for Salyer at LT all season.
Herbert and the super chargers are elite in prime time so let’s get this dub⚡️⚡️⚡️
I want to run the ball in all downs
9 yeah Cus andre hasnt started yet,.stand corrected..😅
Bozeman had his best game ever? Our center sucks!
Should've played Lance on the RedZone score when Justy took that late hit
Herbo & Hampton are suiting up on Monday. Anyone gonna be there yelling as loud as humanly possible??
The rest of the team has to acknowledge the sacrifices Herbert does for this team they got to step it up the rest of there schedule is tough the guys a true warrior
That Philly D line is going to be tough to handle. We need our defense BIGTIME in this game. And I mean bigtime!!!
Hargbough what chargers organization are we expecting this weekend?
Lets be honest hardball boseman is crap lets let go of those feelings.. his rating is 💩
