POST CAST: MULTIPLE BREAKDOWNS COST OTTAWA SENATORS IN BLOWN 3RD PERIOD LOSS TO ST LOUIS BLUES

You are listening to the postcast presented by the Locked On Senators podcast and of course our friends at the Gleeb Central Pub. You can head to the GCP at 779 Bank Street. Let them know that Locked On Senator sent you and all shuttle tickets are available for December at glee centralpub.com. I’m Ross Levitan alongside Brandon Pillar and Lim Martian after the sends fell 43 to the St. Louis Blues in a game they had a third period lead. Pillsy, what’ you see today? Oh, this was a tough one, guys. Uh, the St. Louis Blues is a team the Ottawa Centers should be able to beat, especially with the return of their captain, Brady Kachchuck. I mean, he had his man with eight shots in this game. It was seven, but I guess they gave him another one after looking back at it. So, eight shots for Brady. I like the decision to play Levy Marilinan. Certainly, this loss was not on him. him. I thought he played really well and this was a tight checking game where the St. Louis Blues were able to just barely outmuscle the sends a little bit more in the end getting that fluky goal. So obviously you’d like to see them find a way to at least carry this to overtime especially with the Ottawa Senators luck in overtime and pass regulation versus the St. Louis luck in that regard. But you’re going to lose some of these games once in a while and uh it’s a western team so hopefully you can bounce back Sunday against Dallas. I don’t want to say that this was a sleepy start overall because Braden Shen had a breakaway on the first shift of the game but the shots on goal 75 for St. Louis in the first 119 in the second for St. Louis and then Ottawa had a slight edge 1413 so 27 total shots in the third period. Martian. They got so close but could not get it over the line in the third. Oh man, they were all over them. Especially with the goalie pulled at the very end of the game. I thought for sure they were going to score. How many times was that puck like right on the goal line, boys underneath Bennington. He’s spinning around. He’s swimming trying to keep it out of the net. And uh the boys just couldn’t quite get it done there. And uh it’s too bad because they really did kind of make that push in the third period. But they ultimately like you mentioned the shots on goal ros. I feel like a lot of them for St. Lewis, the ones that they were getting early in the game, especially and eventually end up killing them in that in that third period. The oddman rushes coming the other way. A few really good opportunities for St. Louis. Uh and that last one they really ended up capitalizing on there. So, uh you know, shots on goal, yes, but uh also quality shots on goal I felt like for St. Louis. Uh the boys kind of left Levy Carolina out to dry. I felt like at times there. Yeah. dry like leftover turkey if you’re not cooking it properly, right? And there was a lot of people on social media saying, “Oh, it sends up turkey legs in the first period.” A little lethargic except for Jake Sanderson, who we’ll get to later in Central Standards. This was one of my favorite Jake Sanderson games that we’ve seen. This loss definitely not on Levy Marilyn and as we’ve discussed the defense was optional at times uh tonight for the Ottawa Senators and like I think it was a threeon at one point and Levy just squeezed himself together to make the save. Multiple twoon-ones and he stopped all the first ones. It was the last one that costed them uh in this one. Uh Cleven back on that twoon-one rush. One-time opportunity. It’s in the back of your net and the Senators could not tie it despite their best efforts late in this game. Tim Stutza story for me in this one because he took the reigns offensively with Brady Kachchuck out of the lineup and this was his worst game in a long time. How much Martian do you think the early embellishment penalty went into his head and then he got called later in the period for another infraction? felt like that kind of took his focus away from being the superstar offensively that they needed him to be. Yeah, it’s it’s obviously frustrating for him, right? I think it it’s it it’s getting to him, Rossa. I think it’s getting to him fully and something like that early in the game where, you know, it’s a new set of referees, but it’s the same old story for Timmy here, right? Where he gets a legitimate trip in my opinion. you know, it’s a bit of a can opener style of play in the corner there. And he does kind of do a little bit of a head whip and and fall down uh you know, quite hard compared to what the play might have actually happened if he just let it happen naturally. I think it’s it’s almost a little bit of a legitimate call, but at the same time, um I I don’t think Timmy was really trying to sell it that, you know, he he wasn’t like it wasn’t over the top as an embellishment call. He did get tripped. Um, I think what the referees see though is is that he’s he’s trying to do that little extra thing to make it make the call happen that he doesn’t really need to do and uh the frustration definitely comes out. I think when that kind of thing happens for Timmy, he he needs to flush it and and you know, not complain, not whine the referees about it because it becomes an additional storyline to his game that ultimately leads to everything else kind of falling apart for him because when that’s in his head, um you know, other things get into his head and and he’s not able to perform at the best of his abilities. If he just goes out there and just plays like a robot and just acts like nothing bothers him, I think he’s way more effective. Yeah, I think that definitely got to Timmy and he was playing frustrated out there. And unfortunately, we don’t like to say it, but that might be a bit of a reputation call as well. You know, other guys that fall down like that, maybe the ref doesn’t consider the embellishment or doesn’t that doesn’t cross their minds that it was embellished because he he does trip them up a little bit there. But maybe Timmy sells it a little bit too much there. And rare case, guys. This is another game where Tim Stutzler has zero shots. That’s back-to-back games with no shots for Tim Stoa who leads this team in shots and we’ve been applauding how he’s had a much better shoot first mentality and not able to to get any pucks on net in this one. Pelty, what do you make of the Travis Green line juggling in the third period? At one point it was David Pon taking Giru’s place on the third line. They bumped Jiru up to play uh with Timmy, maybe get him going a little bit. The only line they didn’t touch was Kachchuck, Cousins, and Zetterland. And I see why. Those guys had a great game this afternoon. Yeah. I mean, I think we’ve seen Travis Green juggle the lines in games when they’re down to try to get certain guys going and get them a little bit more ice time. I wouldn’t say I have a strong feeling about it. I I think personally I’d rather you just kind of keep them together to try to gain some some chemistry and momentum. Not that those guys don’t have any. They’ve been playing with those similar lines for quite a while, but ultimately it doesn’t end up working unfortunately. But I do really like the way that Kachchuck Cousins Zetterland line played and I think it was the right move to not break up and or at least initially or for most of the game. Uh I don’t know the time on ice for the lines, but most of the game Pon was remaining on that line with Tim Stutz and Bathson seemed like to me. So I like that they put Brady with Zetterland and Cousins and ultimately it it helps out Zetterland. I mean, him scoring again in this short span, three goals in four games, is great to see. And yeah, Brad Kachchuck ripping it. Like, we know he likes to shoot the puck, but we thought maybe coming back from a thumb surgery, he wouldn’t be shooting it as much. Eight shots on goal is absolutely insane. Yeah, it makes the boys a little hesitant to hit that uh over shots on the on the old betting app there, boys. For sure. Coming off a hand injury, but yeah, he’s right back to his old ways. That’s the way Brady Kachchuck plays and he gets an assist on that. So, he’s on the scoreboard again here. um you know was with was with Zetterland’s goal as well. So, good to see him get right back in the mix, uh, getting those assists and and being involved. Very involved, I would say, in this game, right from the very get-go. He talked about it on his podcast, right, to get it. Yeah, I can’t wait to get out there and be F1 on the four check and and lay the body and and that’s right what he did very first shift of the game. So, it was good to see that he doesn’t look too affected by that injury and and I would say the turkey legs wise, uh, that was maybe one guy who it didn’t really apply to because he was coming out firing out of the gate. Yeah, he was. And he had all that six weeks worth of pent up energy that he was able to get out there. Entertaining as all hell, always mixing it up after the whistle, finding guys out there. And you got to think he’ll only get better as he gets a few more reps under his belt. Big couple games now. Sends 32 and 0 on this road trip. You want to at least finish at 500, which is impossible to do. Seven games, but I’d take a a 43 trip. I would take a three three in one trip as well, but anything below that, you’re starting to think like, okay, now that home stand when we get back, you got the Rangers next Thursday waiting for you. The St. Louis Blues, tonight’s opponent, will be the next Saturday game for the Ottawa Senators. A rare Saturday tomorrow where Ottawa does not play. There were some trends though that are becoming a bit of an issue. The Sands got caved in in the third period in Vegas. They get caved in the numbers say tonight in the third period and I think the way watching this game unfolded you could say the same. They score two minutes into the period and then even though Ottawa tied it up once they got the lead the sends press but could not get the equalizer in this one. On the other side we’ll get into those trends more and how concerning they may be. Levy Marilyn’s performance and our sense central standouts. You can find our social handles in the description below. Senators falling on the road in St. Louis 4-3 the final score. Senators get outshot in this one 31-28. The sends only with one power play opportunity. The Blues go 0 for three on theirs. Faceoffs 5050. Haven’t written that in a while. Senators go dead even. And you gotta think maybe a bit of that is Braden Shen knowing Jiru’s tricks from their teammate years with the Philadelphia Flyers. They had a lot of head-to-head. I actually want to check the numbers on that. Senators with 20 hits to St. Louis is 17 and Ottawa with 17 blocks, including one of the most impressive ones I’ve ever seen from Jake Sanderson saving a goal before ultimately the next shift. Nicholas Maten Palo being unable to do the same. At five on five, the expected goals percentage slightly in favor of St. Louis at 51.4%. Pelysey, were you up in arms at all about the just one power play? Do you feel like there were some missed calls there or just the way this game flowed, it was uh, you know, as it should be? No, I didn’t really think there was many missed calls. Maybe one or two, but nothing too agree. Just that’s popping into my head. I think the worst penalty though, and I guess it’s a fair call, but that Bath penalty just can’t happen. Uh, it’s in the neutral zone. He’s lazy with it. Reaches the stick out, tucks it in the midsection of the Blues player, and the ref is standing right there. Like, now, was that a play where it fully impeded the Blues player and caused an unfair advantage to Bathson? Maybe not necessarily, but it’s still something that’s just a lazy play and you can’t be doing it in an inconsequential area of the ice with the ref clear view of it. So, I think that’s the penalty. I’m not upset that they called it, but I’m upset that Batist allowed himself to take such a bad penalty. What was worse then in this game? Uh, no. I shouldn’t put it like that, but is there any explanation for you, Martian, of the all the breakdowns in the offensive zone that led to oddman rushes the other way? Honestly, I felt like tonight it was just a it was the their mindset this whole game. I feel like they they were playing like a bit of an entitled team. I tweeted this out earlier. It like it seemed to me that they weren’t taking the Blues seriously enough. We know they can’t do that if they expect to win these games, but their MO as a team, especially even on this road trip, has been they’ve been a very stingy group uh through the neutral zone and at at the offensive blue line. Not, you know, with these uh mental mistakes, pinch pinching at the wrong time, uh making kind of careless passes when you’re the last man back, trying to sift one through there that’s not going to have a chance. And St. Louis took advantage. I mean, those oddman breaks the other way were to me the thing that gave the Blues a lot of momentum. and um you know kind of put Levy Marilyn in a real tough spot as well there boys like he can’t stop all of those so you do it over and over again and uh Marilyn you know he made a few good saves there for sure but uh eventually they’re going to get to him right and that’s what ended up happening so I think it was really just like um I don’t know if they just came in with all this confidence with Brady coming back and thinking that they’re this great team that that can’t be beat now that they have them back because they’ve been playing really well without him right and uh I think they just need to go back to that that standard style of play that they’ve been working with and and not allowing those mental errors to happen. Play a safer game. I think that that really for me was the reason why they were making all those dumb plays. And we talked about Timmy not having a good night when he was on the ice. Uh 14 minutes 40 seconds at five on five. The shot attempts were 15-3 for St. Louis in this game. And Drake Bath not much better. 34 111 against. It was just one of those nights where that line just didn’t have it. And it hasn’t been common at all this season. Timmy was also a dash three in this game. But look, it’s it’s not something where we’re going to overreact long term. I still think the sends are in a great spot. It’s just disappointing that they really waited until the third period to put that press on in the last 10 minutes. Well, and not only Ross, um, did they wait a little too late, but that third period is where it all broke down there. Like they were hanging in there with the Blues, even though they weren’t getting the shots, they had the lead going into it. And Travis Green even said after the game, our guy Julian McKenzie tweeting that Green was um, didn’t mind the first 40 minutes of hockey and then the third period didn’t play with enough urgency. We turned over a couple of pucks, didn’t pay attention to certain details that we usually do. And then he gives credit to Levy Mariline and saying it’s unfortunate because our goalie gave us a good game and we should have got a point or a win out of this one. And it it really is too bad because that’s one where you could have walked away with a point or two points in in overtime or shootout and you go, “Ah, wasn’t really our best performance and we we had a couple mental lapses that led to oddman rushes and goals against.” But it’s not like they got blown out here. Like they were still right in this one right up to the very end. And Pinto saying, “We’re on our heels. Didn’t attack, didn’t play with detail, and it bit us in the behind.” So, super unfortunate uh there. But you know what the other problem is, boys? You can’t let Jordan Bennington get into a clutch situation. Say what you want about him. I thought the Zetterland goalie cheated to his far post. Nice move by Zenderland to cut back, but that’s a goal where it’s not a clearcut gimme goal every time. And Bennington locked down in the third period. He’s still giving out rebounds for sure. And Ottawa had their second and third opportunities looking off of that, but he hunkered down that save off the goal line that deflected off of Philip Broberg is going to be uh ringing in the brains of the Ottawa Senators uh as they fly to Dallas to get ready for their next game. There were some standout performances though tonight and we’ll get to those in a moment. You’re listening to Lock On Senators, your team every day. Lim’s Marshian here as well breaking down a 4-3 sends loss to the St. Louis Blues. Pillsey, I’ll give you first dibs here on a send central standout. Oh, thanks, buddy. Um, you’re awesome. You know what? I’m gonna go with Levy Marilinan. I know he doesn’t get the win here. Uh, and obviously there there’s um just a little bit more you’d want out of him, but none of those goals were his fault in my opinion. I thought he was playing so calm, cool, and collected like he almost always does every game. There’s so many opportunities that the Blues had with shots on goal where he was able to hold the rebounds. And I think that’s where the Blues figured out his game later on. The first two periods they were shooting kind of more midsection and he’s able to save it kind of hug and hold no issue. The Blues weren’t getting guys in front. He was able to have clear lanes or I should give some credit to the Suns defenseman. They were clearing the lanes. Jake Sanderson you saw do that at times. And then in the third period, I think the Blues figured that out and they were shooting low to get that pass off the pads. Or I even noticed it seemed like they were purposely shooting just a little bit wide just to get Levy out of position cuz it was close enough where as a goalie you’re like, “Oh, well, I’m not quite sure if that’s going to hit the net or not. I got to get something on it.” And that would move him out of position ever so slightly. And they know he’s going to make that save, but they know now he’s a little bit out of position. And then they would pounce on that rebound. and the sends were a little too scrambly or it was an oddman rush and they didn’t have the opportunities to pick up on those loose pucks. But I’m not putting that on Levy. Uh I really like the way he played tonight and um it’s just tough that the Ottawa Centers aren’t able to help him out more like Travis Green said. Yeah, and you always just expect your goalender to make the first save, right? And I think all night long Levy Marina was making that first save other than the twoon-one that ended up in the back of the Suns net, but we talked about how many of those that went the other way and um he ended up stopping. So, and I really like the sequence from him in the first period too there, PZY. I’m not sure if you caught that in the first five minutes where he made, you know, three great saves in succession uh to stop the Blues from from going up one to nothing, right? So, um really good start from him. That’s another area where the Suns need to improve is early in games and and the not allowing those first couple shots. I think lately it’s been a little bit better, but um maybe it’s it’s more Allark’s been guilty of that more than Levy, even though I think there has been a game or two where Levy also has has led in the second or third shot like early in the game, but it’s good for him also to feel the puck early and and make a few big saves, get his confidence going, make sure the team feels confident in front of him. So, I I don’t hate your standout pick at all, Pelysey. I think I considered Marilyn for my own as well, but um I thought he had a good enough game that, you know, he can be one of the guys who gets the nod here, eh? Yeah, he I mean, just gives you confidence the way he’s so calm. His lateral movement is elite and obviously one-on-one situations where there were a couple tonight that he stood strong. like Braden Shen. I know he broke his stick on that breakaway in the second shift of the game or first shift of the game, but uh I still thought Levy stayed with him and would have made the save either way, even if it hadn’t been a little far out and if his stick didn’t break. Uh as the chat is saying, this will definitely not be a snap it around twice sendouts, but Marian, we got enough for one more. Oh yeah, we got we got enough for one each. And of course, uh, as we always say, the NHL Network website dies on me as I’m giving my, which is hilarious. Uh, but I’m going to go with, um, I’m torn between two guys, so I’m hoping that, uh, Ross gives gives the nod to the second guy, but I picked him last game, so I’m gonna have to go with the captain here, boys. Uh, it’s just so great to have him back. Um, hosted all the boys last night at the Kachchuck household for Thanksgiving, American Thanksgiving. And uh I I I mean I don’t want to say it affected their game, but it might have. But at the same time, just having him back with the lineup gives you that burst of energy that you’re looking for. He’s in the mix all the time. Eight shots on goal tonight, boys. Like we said, uh you know, shooting the puck wasn’t something we expected a ton out of him, but I guess it’s not bothering him that much that that old thumb surgery if uh if he’s still doing that. So um I thought that Brady had a really good game. I think he played somewhere near 18 minutes of ice time if I remember correctly looking at the at the thing right before we got on and it died on me. But um I think Brady, you know, it was a good first game for him to get his legs under him. He comes out of it unscathed. Uh no reoccurring injury, anything like that. And uh also just getting in the mix in those uh scrums after whistles and just the added uh physicality that he brings. I just think Brady Kachchuck is a huge part of this team and it’s just great to have him back. So, and he got the assist tonight. So, I it would I would be remiss to not mention Brady Kachchuck as my stand out here tonight. First opportunity I get and I’m taking it. A point per game player. Brady Kachchuck. Now, four assists in four games played. Uh he played just over 17 minutes. And then at five on five, his line, as I mentioned, was pretty solid tonight. The score was 1-1 when they were out there. Shot attempts 23-19. Um so, lots of activity. uh 40ome shot attempts, 42 when uh when he was out there both ways. Uh lots of action around the net. Uh for my sen central standout in this game, thank you for leaving him for me. Jake Sanderson. This was an incredible Jake Sanderson performance and it’s a shame that he ends the night at one and the shot attempts were definitely not in Ottawa’s favor when he was on the ice, but he made so many elite defensive reads in this game. There was one play where I felt like I was watching Nick Liddstrom. same shift, broken up at the offensive blue line. They cycle back, then they try to chip it in and he just waist high. Just whacks the puck back out. He’s like, “Nope, not this time.” He’s a one-man defensive uh army back there. You can’t get past him. And obviously then the save he made was incredible. He’s like, I’m not going to be in the running for the North. I want to be in the running for the VZNA. The way he was uh looking in there, the speed was evident at all times tonight as it always is. And in a game where it did feel like they were a bit slower than the team that we often see, Jake Sanderson had his legs. I thought he was phenomenal in this game. Yeah. And a few times too, even on those odd man oddman rushes that I keep mentioning, uh, you know, he’s directing traffic while defending as well. Like there was the one where Zetterland’s on the back check and he goes, “You take care of this guy. I’m going to take the puck carrier. You just get back to that guy over there.” And as he’s doing that, he also just comes across with one hand on his stick and bats that thing right off the guy’s stick, too. So, um, incredible defensive efforts all around from Jake Sanderson. He is he is Lindstömesque, Ross. And, you know, obviously we don’t say that lightly. We know how good of a player Lindstöm was in his day, but just the way he snares sticks, even just one hand on his or snares pucks with just one hand on his stick. Like, he’s able to do a lot with his range. He’s he’s taller than people think, too. He’s got a lot of space that he covers out there and he’s so smart and he’s also got great legs and it’s an incredible combination for defenseman. So, he has been uh easily, you know, one of the best players on the sends last couple years here and tonight again he was definitely the standout on the back end. And he did have an assist in this game as well. That’s four points in his last two games. And you can zoom out, that’s eight points in his last eight games, including seven assists. And uh just yeah, if you’re teaching young defenseman what to do when you don’t have the puck offensively, tonight would be a perfect game to clip everything you saw from Jake Sanderson. Hey, he’s got a little Lstrom in him. Got a little Scott Nethermire in him. Got a little Kale Mar in him. Just Yeah, just Those aren’t bad. Those aren’t bad players. Comparables. Yeah. Oh man. Yeah. Speaking of defenseman, I heard in the intermission Darren Dreger say he’d be shocked if Carter Yakimchuk’s not up in the second half. Crazy. He didn’t watch him play this week in Manitoba. Like he he shows flashes, but he’s not NHL ready. And I say that with all due respect. Like he will be a player and I see the vision as I’ve discussed throughout the week as I’ve called those two uh Belleville games. But like he’s he’s making giveaways at the AHL level that if he was doing at the NHL level, fans would stop chirping Nick Jensen for 5 minutes on social media and they’d be saying the exact same thing about Carter Yakobchuk. Obviously, there’s be more offensive upside to be excited about at the same time and Nick Jensen had another tough afternoon. Uh the pair of him and Matt and Paulo Pillsy, thoughts on that? Well, ironically, actually, I thought Matt and Paulo had a nice game. Uh they did. Yeah, don’t let every time I don’t know. I I just feel bad because now it’s just confirmation bias. Every time Jensen does anything that isn’t just chipping it off the boards and out or a tape to tape pass, I just get so enraged and I feel bad cuz, you know, he’s pro can we still say that he’s probably not 100% like at this point he’s he’s got to be. It’s been so much time. Um but we loved him last year, Bills. We did love him. And that’s the thing. I I feel like I’m just too hard on him. But uh there’s so many times where I I don’t love his decision- making. And it’s just like you can’t pinch like you used to. You’re not able to get back. You’re you’re not making the smart responsible plays like we used to know you to do last season. But I really did like Matt Palo’s game. Like that goal. Um I forget which. Pinto. Pinto. The Pinto. Yes. Thank you. The Pinto goal. What an incredible shift by Matting Palo. He brings it in with speed uh and then able like I love when Matthew Palo decides to go to the net like his first scored right in the slot. He’s right there. He battles for that puck, slings it on net and then Pinto gives the extra effort on the rebound to score. Like it’s plays like that. And then on the game-winning goal, I thought Matt Palo played that well. Like I can’t believe that they were able to score on that with where he was positionally and blocking it without using his hands in the crease. Like I was like man nice play Matt Pal. good way to keep that out. And then they’re calling for a goal and I was like, how the heck did that one get in there and of course that ends up being the game winner. Yeah, it did go five hole and you could tell the Sense missed Thomas Shabbat right now cuz like I I would like to see a pair of Shabbat with Matt and Paulo just see how it looked for a couple of games. I was also a bit surprised that Travis Green didn’t go to his break in case of emergency D pair of Jake Sanderson and Jordan Spence tonight. We just saw one shift from the minute 25 seconds to get five on five. That’s been a typical move that Travis Green likes to do when he’s down a goal in the third period. So decided against it tonight. You wonder maybe if Shabbat’s in the lineup, is he more likely to do that? We will never know. But it’s just tough with the horses they have on the back end right now that you were seeing down a goal with four minutes left that Matt and Paulo Jensen pair on the ice. all due respect, but like that’s not what you want when you’re trying to get a goal there late in the third period. So, unfortunate game, some tough breakdowns that cost them off the rush that first one. Last note on Jensen though, but he tries to go up the middle. It’s picked off and that’s how the first goal goes in the twoon-one the other way. And sure, it’s bounced off the back, but then he doesn’t seal the back post either. And um bang bang play, but just not ideal performance defensively from a number of Ottawa Senators. There were just too many lacadasical efforts tonight from Tim Stewart of Drake Bath and Nick Jensen. The list goes on and on. So, he’s definitely not alone in this. Pinto called it an immature loss. And look, I like that the boys, they’re not they may have played a little entitled in the game, but at least they’re acknowledging it and saying, “Hey, like we know that that was not a good performance.” And to leave your backup out to dry like that when he was playing as well as he was just super unfortunate. Uh, by the way, the stats people have added two faceoff wins for Ottawa. So, 50/50 no more. Sends win 52%. In the dot. Uh, a little sliver of lining. That’s my new one. Instead of silver lining, it’s a sliver lining. Yeah, just a sliver. Just a little bit of positivity. Uh, actually, I’ll end it with a little more positivity. I’ve been kind of tap dancing as the clock ticks down, but Toronto Maple Leafs allowed a goal to Jacob Chikin with under four minutes left in a tie game. They are now trailing the Washington Capitals with 30 seconds left. And that rolls in to the fact that we got our wish Pelsey in an all-Atlantic division game said, “Hey, what’s the better of two evils here?” Probably Tampa just continuing to win because they’re likely going to be a playoff team. They double up the Red Wings. So the Red Wings lose. Uniscal loses for the Boston Bruins 6-2 to the New York Rangers. The poor Buffalo Sabres. Talk about beating a dead horse. How about beating a dead uh Buffalo 5- nothing. They lose to the New Jersey Devils this afternoon. The Florida Panthers lose to one of the worst teams in the league, 5-3 to the Calgary Flames. So really in the division, Montreal is the only team that gets ahead. So you end the night. Remember we were so nervous. Hey, you lose this game in regulation pills, you could find yourself way outside that line for playoffs. But because they will stay top three in the Atlantic Division, deep breath, sends fans, you’ll wake up tomorrow still in a divisional spot. And look, I know that the expectations need to be higher with the team moving in the right direction, but PZY, how many years have we been waiting to be 20 plus games in and still looking at the division standings instead of the wild card? Yeah. No, the Suns are still in a really good spot. You get Brady Kachchuck back now. Um, now you’re still on the road and you got uh another Western team to play here or another two. Who do they play after Dallas? Just one. Montreal. Montreal. Oh, right. Yeah. Okay. So, so you got to try to Although some some say Montreal is a West team. Didn’t they make the Stanley Cup final by going through the West? Yeah, I mean they did play the Vegas Golden Knights in the Eastern Conference Finals and then played Tampa Bay in the Stanley Cup finals. So, sure, we’ll call them a Western team depending on how directionally challenged you are, which I I’m very directionally challenged, so I won’t argue on that one. Um, yeah, they’re still in a really good spot here. I I like that the goalies are back in form. Uh once you get Thomas Shabbat back and hopefully Ridley Greg, we haven’t had a single game with this full roster healthy. Uh you’ll remember Bathson missed a couple games to start, so did Cleven. Spence was the healthy scratch for some reason. And then Brady goes down and then you have the Shaw Greg injury. So, I really think that once this team is back to full strength and once they’re done a tough road trip where they’ve managed pretty well so far, like to lose your two games in regulation by one goal, it’s it’s tough, but you’re right there. And you got to be happy with how this team has done in in November considering the circumstances of how they usually do in this dreadful month. Yeah. No real true stinkers, right, so far on this road. I shouldn’t have said that, but yeah. What are you doing, dude? Uh yeah, but so far so good as far as you know, keeping the scores tight and staying in games. But yeah, I I trust this team, right, Pelysey and they’re they are in a great spot in the standings. I think it from now until New Year’s, you’re going to start seeing a little bit more of that separation. Like the Eastern Conference can’t stay this tight forever. It’s going to start you’re going to start seeing the men get separated from the boys out there. And I think that in the standings especially, um, we’re going to start seeing a lot of shifts happening and those teams that should be up there will be up there. And I I hope I think that the sends will be able to maintain what they’ve been doing and and and keep themselves kind of in that upper echelon of the Atlantic Division. It’s not going to get any easier, boys. After 4-3 loss to St. Louis, the sends will be in Dallas. The Stars do play Utah tonight. So take this stat with a grain of salt. It will change one way. Actually, maybe not. Or the other because in the last 10 games, the Dallas Stars are 8-1 and one. So, if they win tonight, they’re still 8-1 and one in their last 10, but they’ve got a plus 20 goal differential in their last 10 games. They’re not just winning by one goal. They’re killing teams. And the Ottawa Senators are going to be prepared. They were able to get a point off of Dallas in an overtime loss at home earlier this year, and they they haven’t lost since then. Like, they lost in overtime to Calgary actually since then, but never in regulation. This is a very very good team and I’m going to be really curious to see how the sends bounce back. It’ll be Lena Salmark in net. We’ll see. There hasn’t really been any updates on Thomas Shabbat or Ridley Greg. More wondering about Ridley Greg because Thomas Shabbat did come back and then reagravated it. So, he’s only missed two games in a row. But, uh, going to be really curious to see because neither of them were placed on the IR when Steven Halliday was sent down today and when Brady Kachchuck was activated from the injured reserve. Will says he never wants to see Jensen again. Well, I guess we already kind of covered that. I wouldn’t go that far, but I would like to see him get at least like a couple games to reset. Like I get he’s a veteran, but it doesn’t hurt just to reset things and uh what’s going to happen in the following games. Marcy, any final thoughts from you on today’s postcast? No, just a happy belated American Thanksgiving to our American listeners out there. Thanks for joining the postcast and uh yeah, happy Friday to the good people out here in this city. And uh you know, it’s Friday, baby. So, let let’s just not let this one affect our mood. I think we can move on from it. And uh brighter brighter games ahead here very soon. Yeah. There’s no time to relax either, right? Like they’re right back to it and um the schedule gets extremely tight. So, let’s wash this one away and and you know, try to enjoy our weekend here. Yeah, easier for us than Pilzy, but Sans are 63 and one still in their last 10 games. Pillsy, you got any final thoughts today? I would have really liked to win today, guys. Uh regulation overtime shootout, but when you make big boy bets, you got to try to handle it like a big boy. So, that’s that’s what I’m trying to do. I will uh we’ll bounce back here, but this one you learned from last year where you post your slip and it was against Montreal and a lot of people let you hear it. Yeah. Yep. You live you live and you learn. It’s okay. I I had this one circle for weeks. I picked my spot. I stand by the decision. It was close, but doesn’t do you much good here. Yeah. No, hindsight’s no good for you, Pelysey. There’s no there’s no reason to, you know, be worried about it now. It’s it’s open. Yeah. A very rare Saturday off for the Ottawa Senators. They will play every Saturday until the Olympics. That’s how long they’ve got a Saturday stretch after tonight. So, you know what? Take some time for your families. Take some time to unwind because it’ll only be one of two Sunday games until the middle of January. So, and just finally, Ross, if you don’t like the way the Sens play on Fridays or this is giving you bad vibes, I got good news for you. The Ottawa Senators, unless I fact checked this a little while ago, this is literally their only Friday game of the rest of the season. Correct. Pretty sure that’s correct. Like, which is crazy. Like, that’s such a prime sports night. And uh your Ottawa Senators will not play on a Friday for the rest of the season. So, there you go. Nine straight Saturdays though coming up after the off day tomorrow. Okay, for us we say see you Sunday when the sends will take on the stars for Lim’s Martian and Brandon Pillar. 1. Media pundits were right; the team had a letdown after Brady’s return…

They play better when they don’t rely on Brady to drag them to the fight.

  2. on the day two no quality teams battled it out. we were quite tough, the opponent was tougher. stütztle was awful, penalties and blatant mistakes. we deserved nothing – we got nothing. if we play like this, with such a no quality show, all dreams will be shattered. lets see where we go from here. zetterlubd goal was cool, team wasnt cool at all.

  3. Timmy is too good to try to sell calls and usually he plays hard. The refs have pride too and they hate guys who try to manipulate them by selling calls. He has to stop this.

  4. That was pretty awful. Against one of the worst teams in the league. Not a whole lot to be positive about in this one unfortunately. Maybe the effort for the last 7 minutes or so? I liked the desire of the boys in those final minutes.
Leevi decent enough. Sandy pretty solid.

  5. Unfortunately, I feel like the boys just assumed they would win with Brady coming back. Not enough effort in playing the way that's brought them wins lately.
