Post-Game Press Conference: J.B. Bickerstaff | Pistons vs. Bucks | 12.03.2025

JB BICKERSTAFF. TOUGH FINISH TO THE GAME. WHAT DID YOU SEE? OR DID YOU NOT SEE FROM THE TEAM IN THE FOURTH QUARTER? TACO JAY. >> WELL, AGAIN, I’LL SAY IT TILL I’M BLUE IN THE FACE, BUT DEFENSIVELY WE JUST WEREN’T AS GOOD AS WE’RE CAPABLE OF BEING. RIGHT. WE GAVE UP SOME OPEN THREES. AND THAT’S WHAT THIS TEAM THRIVES OFF OF I THOUGHT FOR THE MOST PART IN THE GAME. WE DID A REALLY GOOD JOB OF DEFENDING THE THREE POINT LINE, BUT WE HAD SOME BREAKDOWNS THAT THEY MADE US PAY FROM THE THREE POINT LINE, AND THEN THAT ALLOWED THEM TO SETTLE THEIR ZONE AND WE COULDN’T GET GOING IN TRANSITION. SO YOU KNOW AGAIN IT ALWAYS FALL BACK TO OUR DEFENSE. YOU KNOW 35 POINTS IN THE FOURTH QUARTER IS GOING TO MAKE IT HARD ON YOU. >> YOU GUYS WERE ABLE TO BUILD THAT 19 POINT LEAD. BUT WHEN THEY SWITCHED TO THAT ZONE HOW MUCH DID THAT KIND OF IMPACT YOU GUYS. >> I MEAN IT WAS IMPACTFUL BECAUSE WE ALLOWED IT TO BE. AND THEN, YOU KNOW, IT STARTED TO IMPACT OUR DEFENSE. SO YOU KNOW IT’S A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO LEARN FROM THESE SITUATIONS TO UNDERSTAND, YOU KNOW, DEFENSE WILL CARRY YOU IF YOU GET STOPS. THEY DON’T GET AN OPPORTUNITY TO SET UP IN THAT ZONE. SO IT SLOWED US DOWN. WE GOT STAGNANT VERSUS THE ZONE. WE COULD HAVE MOVED IT A LITTLE BIT BETTER. BUT YOU KNOW, THAT’S ON ME TO HELP THE GUYS MORE IN THE ZONE MAKE IT EASIER FOR THEM. >> SEASON HIGH IN POINTS FOR GUEYE TONIGHT. SEASON HIGH IN MINUTES TO JUST HOW HAVE YOU SEEN HIM PROGRESS OVER THE LAST TWO WEEKS OR SO. >> YEAH, I MEAN THAT’S THAT’S WHAT WE’RE WORKING ON WITH HIM. AND AGAIN IT’S JUST NOT AN EASY THING TO DO AFTER THAT AMOUNT OF TIME OFF. BUT IF YOU LOOK AT THEM, I THINK HE’S PROGRESSING IN THE RIGHT WAY. I THINK HE’S GETTING MORE AND MORE COMFORTABLE OUT THERE. HIS TEAMMATES ARE GETTING, YOU KNOW, MORE AND MORE COMFORTABLE PLAYING WITH HIM. BUT WE DIDN’T EXPECT THIS TO BE A QUICK PROCESS FOR HIM BECAUSE WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT HE’S CONFIDENT. SO I THINK HE’S DOING A GREAT JOB. YOU KNOW HE’S BEING PATIENT. HE’S PUTTING IN THE WORK AND THEN HE’S GROWING GAME BY GAME. >> OUTSIDE OF THE FOURTH QUARTER, YOU GUYS SEEM LIKE I WAS DOING A PRETTY GOOD JOB TAKING CARE OF THE BALL. CAN YOU JUST TALK ABOUT WHAT KIND OF TRANSPIRED INTO I THINK IT WAS LIKE 7 OR 8 TURNOVERS IN THE FOURTH QUARTER. >> YEAH. IT’S YOU KNOW, AGAIN, US DOING A BETTER JOB OF RELIEVING PRESSURE FOR ONE ANOTHER, US DOING A BETTER JOB OF TRYING TO STAY OUT OF SMALL SPACES, WHICH THAT ZONE KIND OF FORCED US INTO. BUT YOU KNOW, AGAIN WE’LL GO BACK, WE’LL WATCH THE TAPE OF IT. AND THESE ARE, YOU KNOW, THESE ARE GREAT OPPORTUNITIES FOR US TO LEARN AND CONTINUE TO IMPROVE AND

  1. Defensively? No let me help you out JB (Justa Bum)…….your team had lazy energy. We shot 40 3s even though we’re not a 3 point shooting team and we were down our best 3 point shooter. You let Cade sleep his way through the entire game while he settled for threes and deferred the whole game. You allowed JD to play stupid and lazy. You let Daniss play out of control. You allowed the Bucks to go to a zone that we’ve beaten all year but let our guys continue to launch from 3. You don’t allow our athletic guys to cut to the basket, potentially creating opportunities for easy shots. And you continue to let LeVert sink this team with his goofy play. Do better, a lot better Mr β€œCoach of the Month”

  2. Ugly loss. I know it’s the NBA and these games happen, but still β€” we haven’t looked sharp over the last 4–5 games. We’ve got to figure it out and take care of business against the teams we should beat, especially when their best player goes out early.

  3. Absolute trash team at holding leads and closing out games. When I saw the double digit lead at the beginning and went away, I knew when I came back to check the half-time score it would be a one possession game. And I was right. Because no team in the league is worse at keeping leads. It's embarrassing. Especially the 4th Q turnovers. Just appalling.

  4. Should have kept Paul Reed out there in the fourth quarter. He was playing way better then duren tonight. Cade played like crap. He always turns the Ball over at the worst time. Lavert was horrible. Lazy defence. Really a bummer because some of the bench players did there jobs tonight.

  5. Haha. This team deserves to lose games like this. They are turnover machines when game is on the line. It starts with Cade, another terrible one in the clutch. This team is not the best in the East and will continue to throw games away. All deserved

  6. pathetic loss, i mad af wtf no gianiss, same shit with orlando no paulo, same shit with indiana (lucky win) wtf… celtics as well, losting to depleted teams, levert cant shoot for shit fs

  7. Jb you need to take accountability! Wtf are you doing with the lineups bruh? Danis jenkins should NEVER play the same amount of minutes as asaur. Lavert was 1-10 why tf was he still in instead of ivey?! Why tf cant you emphasize ball control? Stop forcing passes through a covered pick and roll! The careless to's are ridiculous atp man. They not even forced! Get this shit together

  8. As a diehard PIstons fan I really like CARIS LEVERT overall, but he straight up lost this game for Detroit last night with his 1 for 10 shooting and the VERY costly turnover he had with under 4 mins to go in the game….SMH

  9. On JB's behalf, this would be a very difficult team to coach, rotationally wise. You have very talented players all the way down the depth chart, but anyone will get cold if they sit for quarters at a time. My 'keyboard coach' opinion (even though I don't like it lol): I think they need to choose between Ivy and Levert when it comes to playing time. Dannis impacts the game in so many other ways besides just scoring, and his minutes shouldn't be impacted by Caris or Jaden. Dannis should be primary back up for Cade once Duncan returns to the line up. Jaden and Levert on the court together, it just isn't working so far. I would start elevating Jaden once his minute restriction is over, and start regressing Caris' minutes. Just like Ausar last year, Jaden is going to come into form later this season and next year, and be a monster.

  10. They still ahead of the curve but they are not the best team in the East, they still have alot of work to do because these last few games have been crazy it seem like they regressing.
