The Cubs adding these Power bats has fans EXCITED!!!

Cubs fans, the winter meetings start next week. And guys, this latest rumor from Cubs Marquee Sports Network analyst and host has me all types of happy, excited about what could potentially happen during these winter meetings. I’m going to share it with you and then I want your feedback. [Music] What’s going on everybody? Welcome to Chicago Cub Central. It’s your boy Mike Jones back again with another episode of Chicago Cubs Central, your number one spot for all things Chicago Cubs. Thanks so much for tuning in, guys. This latest rumor, this latest talk has me super excited for what could potentially happen during the winter meetings or after the winter meetings for the Chicago Cubs. Now, we all know that the Chicago Cubs do need to replace the bat of one Kyle Tucker. Nobody expects the Chicago Cubs to resign Kyle Tucker back to a deal. He’s pretty much gone. However, with the latest rumor that just came out on uh Marquee Sports Network, um their very own analyst and host Cole Wright, he host Chicago Bears stuff, he Chicago Cubs stuff, uh he Chicago uh Sky stuff for the Marquee Sports Network. And listen, he had this to say. They were talking about lineups, scenarios, the best things that could happen during the winter meetings. It was him, Bruce Levine, and another Cubs insider. And they were talking about the potential of the Chicago Cubs adding not just one, but two major bats. One would be a reunion, and one is somebody that the Chicago Cubs fans have kind of been hoping for for a while now. With these two replacements, guys, listen, I’m all good with the Chicago Cubs for this year. I I think I think these two additions put us very well into a good spot heading into the season being again at the top of the division. And this is not even adding any more pitching. I still believe the Chicago Cubs are going to add a front-end starter. But just adding these offensive threats to the Chicago Cubs batting order, guys, I’m telling you, will put the Chicago Cubs right back where they were last year, potentially in first place in the whole National League. So again, those two additions are none other than Cody Bellinger, the Chicago Cubs going out and getting and resigning Cody Bellinger to another contract. This time not a prove it deal a longer deal. Um this time signing ourselves to Cody and committing to Cody because he did everything that we asked for. So we’re going to have to sweeten the pot for him and give him what he likes. and then the Chicago Cubs after that signing Aohin Suarez to come play third base for the Chicago Cubs this season. Listen, I don’t hate this one single solitary bit. I am very, very, very intrigued with what this could potentially mean for the Chicago Cubs this season. So, let’s talk about it. First and foremost, we already know that the Chicago Cubs that this is this was Cole Wright’s lineup that he that he potentially put out there for the Chicago Cubs. He said he had Nico her batting lead off. He had Pico Armstrong batting after that, then Michael Bush, then Aoheno Suarez, then Seya Suzuki, then Cody Bellinger, then Ian Hap, then Desby Swanson, and coming in the ninth spot, Carson Kelly. I love it. I love it. I love it. It’s an upgrade at third base. It’s power. It’s still pretty good defense. And then on top of that, in right field, you put Cody Bellinger back in right field for the Chicago Cubs this season. You give Owen Casey some time to grow and not put the pressure on him to have to come up and immediately contribute. I do expect there to be a time where you do call up Owen Casey and you allow him to play. I do expect Cody Binger to probably have some injuries or some bumps or bruises or need some rest along the way. He is a grizzled veteran now. And I expect Matt Shaw to come off the bench for the Chicago Cubs and help third base defensively uh when the Chicago Cubs are in close games. I love this 2026 Cubs lineup. I love everything about it. I love having Peter Armstrong hit second. I love putting Michael Bush in that third hole spot. Aohinoso Suarez coming in after him. You got a bunch of contact guys before you get your big bad Aheno Suarez. And then Sea Suzuki hitting after him takes a lot of the pressure off of him. And honestly, you’ll see the best out of Danby Swanson and Ian Hap coming out of that eight and seven hole spot. I love love love this add these additions. If the Chicago Cubs were able to make these additions, I would say that this off season was a success. signing Cody Bellinger and then signing Aoheno Suarez I think would be a huge success for the Chicago Cubs. I think that adding these two bats would work so well for the Chicago Cubs. It adds lineup balance and adds about 35 to 45 plus combined home run potential for the Chicago Cubs. Both hitters pull the ball well into the win assisted bleachers. So you understand that both these guys can hit at Wrigley. And the way Wrigleyfield has played, it’s you’re going to need some guys that can actually hit at Wrigley. And it also adds protection for hitters like Danby Swanson and Ian Hap who go through these slumps where they just can’t hit the freaking ball. I’m telling you guys, it I I think I think that this brings so much to the Chicago Cubs lineup and it offers you an opportunity to win in multiple different ways. You got guys that are contact hitters such as your Nicoers, such as your Michael Bushes, such as, you know, your Ian Habit, Danby Swanson, and even Carson Kelly. And then you got your power guys, your Per Armstrongs, your Sea Suzuki, your Cody Bellinger, your Aohin Suarez. I would love to have this be our our starting lineup uh for the Chicago Cubs in 2026. And it is very possible that that that that that’s one thing that I want you guys to know about this. We’re going to talk about contracts here in a minute, but this isn’t beyond the comprehension of what the Chicago Cubs could potentially accomplish during these winter meetings or during this winter. This is very much, this lineup is very much acco accomplishable. this is something that they can do. They can detain these these contracts and get these guys. This isn’t pie in the sky. So, I I don’t want you guys to, you know, think that, oh, he’s just talking for, you know, uh, views or anything like that. The reason I pulled this when I watched this, I was like, I got to talk about it on the show because I was watching listening to those guys and this very much sounds attainable. Just adding those two pieces to the Chicago Cubs uh uh uh uh batting order this year takes so much pressure and evens out the lineup so much for the Chicago Cubs. I like it a lot. I like it a lot. So, Bellinger brings left-handed power, postseason pedigree, and defensive flexibility to float between first base and center field if needed. Don’t forget, like I said, those those games you don’t necessarily maybe feel comfortable having Michael Bush play first. got Cody Bellinger, you can put him at first. You could put Sea Suzuki out there at right field. Michael Bush needs a day. He’s been struggling. Put Cody Bellinger at first, you know, and then put uh Sea Suzuki in uh in right field. Move Ainos Suarez to DH and put Matt Shaw at third base. This the flexibility that adding these two pieces gives you in in your order and will give tools to Craig Council to be able to succeed on a day in dayout basis, you can’t help but love it. I love it. Suarez, meanwhile, is a pure right-handed pop hitter. He hits the ball hard. He lifts the ball and he brings that classic middle-ofthe-art order intimidation factor. Now, why is this important? This is important because last year, Sean Suzuki hidden in front of Kyle Tucker and behind Kyle Tucker had his best offensive season a as a as a ma as a as a member of the Major League Baseball League. So listen, when you look at that, putting get getting somebody like Gino that can cause Seiya Suzuki, have an effect on Sea Suzuki, have an effect on Michael Bush, hitting in front of him, hitting behind him. It will allow teams and pitchers to have to game plan around Heoen Suarez, especially at Wrigley Field where he is dominant. He’s going to play half his games at Wrigley. I love it because he’s dominant at Wrigley. He’s had more multi-game home runs at Wrigley, I think, than anywhere else in his career. So, you bring somebody like that and say, “Hey, kid, you’re gonna play half your games here at Wrigley.” I I think he signed up for it every single day of the week. I think I think he knows what he can do at Wrigley Field, and I think he’s one of the only ones that can dominate. him and Kyle Schwarber are probably two of the only free agent hitting pieces that you know for sure are going to come to Wrigley Field and dominate if you give if given the chance that the win won’t necessarily have a factor on those guys for some reason they’re just able to hit there win no win they just do. So when you look at these, you say to yourself like, damn, man. Adding these guys could potentially propel the Chicago Cubs even further than they went last year. I like it. I like it a lot. So if the Cubs want to solve their four-hole question, two power bats targeting opposite sides of the plate would absolutely take care of those issues. So listen man, I I I love it. But again, y’all, it’s going to cost as everything in this league does. It does cost. What is it going to take to resign Cody Bellinger and bring him back to Chicago? Well, he likely wants a multi-year commitment this time. Projected range anywhere between 3 to six years. And his AAV estimates around 18 million to 28 million per year. So total he could land around 70 million to 140 million depending on the years and demand. So getting somebody like Cody Bellinger is probably going to cost you around $80 million a year. You’re probably going to I I I wouldn’t I would not hesitate to offer Cody Bellinger $80 million deal for four years. I think I think that that’s right around the range where he needs to be. I think that’s right around the range where the Chicago Cubs still have flexibility to go out and add pitching. They also have the flexibility to go and get somebody like Aoheno Suarez and bring him to the Chicago Cubs as well. So again, what would it cost to bring Aeno Suarez? Well, again, you really want Aoheno Suarez for his bat, his defense questions at third base are there. But that’s why you have Matt Shaw. You have Aheno Suarez for maybe innings one through five, one through six. If he’s having a good day and nobody’s hitting his way in that hot corner, then just leave him out there. But if you do need to make a switch, you can obviously uh switch uh and move him over either um you could bring him to the bench and then put in Matt Shaw who you know is going to give you great great output at third base and it takes pressure off Matt Shaw. I know everybody wants to believe in these kids. They want to believe in Moes Beras. They want to believe in Owen Casey. They want to believe in Matt Shaw and they want to see these kids play and I do too. However, the Chicago Cubs have signaled that they want to go allin and they want to go even further than just making the postseason or even winning a wild card series. They want to play in the show of shows. They want to play in the World Series. In order to do that, you got to add pieces like Suarez, like Bellinger. Those are te battle battle tested guys. Both of these guys have played in the World Series. Both these guys have had success in the World Series. And both these guys are veteran presence that can bring and carry your club along with the Danby Swanson, you know, to what we what we believe is the promised land. So I think it’s a I think it’s totally attainable for the Chicago Cubs to do this. So Bellinger would obviously be the headliner here. He’s still in his prime and Scott Boris clients don’t come cheap, but we do understand Scott Boris and uh Jed Hoyer do have a pretty good relationship. So these two can talk it out and probably work something out. I do foresee that potentially happening. I I they will at least have a conversation. I can promise you they will at least have a conversation. Will Cody Bellinger end up coming back to the Chicago Cubs? That remains to be seen, but I can promise you a conversation at least. Now, Suarez will be a more of a buy low power gamble. He’s affordable. He’s he fits a need, but he’s not tying up your payroll long term, which you love because why? Because he’s older. He’s has defensive questions and he’s looking at probably around one to three years uh which pretty much will probably net him his AAV estimate is around 10 million to6 million per year. So likely anywhere from between 12 million to $40 million which isn’t crazy for all that for all those home runs for all that power for what those guys are going to bring to you. you’re looking at potentially resigning Cody Bellinger and bringing in Aohinos Suarez for around $und00 million in total. So again, I do not think that this is something that’s pie in the sky. I do not think that this is something that I’m just talking out the side of my mouth. This is very attainable. This is very, very attainable. And the way you structure those deals, if you structure those deals right, you have enough money to go out and add more pitching pieces. You don’t have to do anything else. So, you don’t have to add anything else if you add those two pieces to your batting order because you have guys that were playing last year all day every day that can now move to your bench and be bench pieces for the Chicago Cubs. You can put Owen Casey on the bench. You can put Kevin Alcantry on the bench. You can put Matt Shaw on the bench and have those guys play sparing sparringly and get opportunities as guys go down with injury or guys need days off. So, again, I I I like this. I like those two additions. Then after that, you solely focus on pitching first year. That’s that that for those two. If you you got 20 if you’re paying 20 to Cody for for this year, that takes you around town down to probably $120 million left to spend this year. Um and then on top of that, like I said, you still have uh money else money left elsewhere to spend on to get more pitching. So, I love it. I think that it is a great opportunity for the Chicago Cubs. Um, for me, this is this would be a creative, impactful winter. Maybe not the mega star everybody dreams of, but it gives the Cubs a def a defined offensive identity, power, pop, plate balance, and lineup danger. So, like I said, sometimes it’s not about uh finding success in perfection. It’s about finding success in what fits your needs right now. So, the Chicago Cubs absolutely should look into this, should have a conversation with Scott Boris about Cody Bellinger and see if Cody is open to coming back to play for the Chicago Cubs again. So, I need to ask you guys, would you like to make these deals or would you if you were in if you were in Jed Hoyer’s shoes, are these deals that you will potentially make for these two power bats? I am saying yes. These are goals for me. I think that these two power bats bring so much to the Chicago Cubs and take so much pressure off of everybody else. You’ll still have Pico Armstrong who, you know, is going to come and kill it. You still have Michael Bush who, you know, is going to be able to do damage. And you still have the young kids like Moises Bisteros, like Owen Casey, and like Matt Shaw coming off the bench and being able to able to provide for the Chicago Cubs, too. I like this. It’s a veteran move. It brings veteran presence to add to Dan Swanson to Ian Hap and to all those guys and it takes so much pressure off of things. I think this is very attainable. Let me know in the comments what you guys want to do if these are deals that you guys would do and what would you offer these guys contractwise. Listen, I appreciate you so much for tuning in. 1. So we paid 5 million to Yankees to take Cody and now we are going to sign him to a long term contract. Not buying this. I would rather get Schwarbs and a pitcher.

  2. I think this is a pipe dream. Unless the Yankees sign Tucker, they are going to bring back Bellinger. He is too valuable a player for them to let him walk. As for Suarez, he's a three-outcome hitter and an average defender. Last season, he had a career year and, therefore, is due for some regression. I know Suarez has always hit well in Wrigley Field, but that was against the Cubs' pitching staff. He will not be facing the Cubs' pitching staff if he plays for the Cubs. BTW, Suarez has never played in the World Series, and PCA is not a "contact hitter." I don't see Jed Hoyer shelling out the money to get these two guys and still upgrading the pitching staff.

  3. Hey Big Mike, I'm sure you know where I stand on the subject… Allow me to remind everyone who beat the Cubs in '25… Was it a team bristling with overpaid veteran hitters? Nope!!! Aside from their catcher & LF, who have both been on the team for years now, were strictly youth!!!!
Youth with great pitching is the recipe!!!
