If its not Hughes or Pettersson then I don’t really care.
Tippett for Hughes it is. I’ll drive him to the airport.
Damn it’s nice to want give us Hughes for him.
If he were to be a bigger piece in a Hughes deal… yeah there’s no way I can believe that, it’d simply be too stupid for Rutherford to think that way
Having said that: I really can’t think of anything else that’d make sense at all.

Tippett for Hughes and a conditional pick (1st) if Hughes signs elsewhere when he’s a UFA at the end of ’26-’27 season.
I don’t know if I even like this idea, it’s just what I would expect to see happen. Tippett went 10th overall in the 2017 entry draft, and was acquired in the Giroux trade. I don’t see Danny Briere just giving Tippett away on the risk of a potential 1.5-season rental without some kind of insurance (conditional pick). Who knows, I’m no GM.
I mean, they can offer us their other stuff, but I don’t think it happens if its not Hughes.

I know everybody wants Tippett gone but he has actually looked much better overall in the last 10 games. I genuinely think they don’t want to trade him unless it’s a can’t miss which is only Hughes. They probably don’t think of ep that way especially since toch didn’t believe in him as a player like that in Vancouver. But if they like him that much I think Hughes for Tippett, Andrea, the Toronto first, and maybe our protected first (or unprotected if they insist) would be reasonable as a starting point.

Theyre talking tippett for garland on that canucks page and acting like thats bad for them. Garland just signed a long ass contract that starts next year and probably wouldnt be able to make our top 9 wings 3 years from now. Why the hell would we want that guy?
If they’re talking Hughes, Danny B has to make it happen. Even if the trade is Tippett, Bonk, and 2 firsts for Hughes (or something like that) you have to pull the trigger regardless of any contract discussions with Hughes. Worst case scenario you trade him again if he’s not willing to re-sign, and can recoup assets. Hughes loves Tocc, and it seems like the locker room is really tight, gives yourself a chance to sign Hughes.
I also wonder if they’re talking about Hronek. Just turned 28, putting up really good numbers on a bad Canucks team, would be our 2nd best defenseman behind Sanny.
I don’t see anyone else that could be talked about here in a trade for Tippett. No reason to trade him for another winger, Pettersson and Tocc had issues, and they have no other C or D that would play in our top 6/top 4

As long as it’s not winger in, winger out. We have a glut of them and it doesn’t make sense with who we have with the team and who we have in the system.
I don’t understand the Hughes stuff. If Hughes wants to come here we can just wait a few months? What is the point of a trade? What is in it for him? Why give up assets for an UFA? Why would he sign with anyone who trades for him vs just… waiting a few months and signing wherever he wants?
