Joel Quenneville postgame vs. UTA | Dec. 3, 2025

have the chance yet to think about what went wrong in this game? Well, they uh they played like they were a desperate team and uh and we uh look like we’re a step slow tonight and uh it was one of those games where at the end of the year you look back and you probably sit st might have two, three, four, five that you can see throw in a garbage can. That’s our first one that we’re going to throw in the garbage can. Did this game compare at all to perhaps the end of the game on Sunday against Chicago where they came back? We’re hoping it could have been the other way being on the receiving end of it. And uh you know, I think that uh we get something there. You know, I think that could have got us excited, but there wasn’t much uh happening tonight. Um you could look across the lines and uh and our D. I think everybody was, you know, was one of our flatter games. We’ve been on the bench and you could and on the ice as well. Was a lack of scoring not being able to get their goalie to move out of position. I think that we had some we had a lot of point shots today. A lot of them were blocked. A lot of them got through, but uh the rebounds weren’t uh weren’t fortunate enough. But then again, that’s that’s our problem to to find them. And that was one of the nights where they played well in front of their goalie and we weren’t very good at that. What did you see on the first Peter Cook? Was it set breakout, but I think all all three forwards got caught low. Didn’t see how that developed exactly. Yeah, it was a poor coverage on our part and uh you know, it was uh you know, something we got to get better at defending the rush against a good team with speed and skill. Yeah. Uh Utah struggling a bit, you know, came in probably as a desperate team. You guys kind of raised the level here, raised the standard here. Is is tonight kind of evidence that you’re going to be getting other teams best from now on? I think you got to expect every team’s best when no matter where this season is and uh and what’s going on. So, um I think we got to take care of our own business and expect a hockey game and knowing that uh the balance and the uh parody in the division in the league is I don’t think it’s ever been tighter or closer and anybody can do that to anybody on any given night. Um and they came off a game where they got uh you know comparably uh you know the score against them and and they responded that’s uh that’s kind of you know let’s move on. Let’s be positive and uh and uh work our way out of this. What do you think of that compete level tonight? Corners, walls, net front, that kind of stuff. And what would you like to see come up against a pretty heavy team in Washington coming in next? Yeah, they’re playing well and had a big win. Um you know, they’re they’re big, they’re strong, you know, they’ve got some guys that know how to score. Um so let’s uh move on and uh think about our next opponent knowing that we better play our best. After seeing the response the team had on Monday, you know, to a bad loss in Chicago, is this one even more disappointing not being able to roll that over in any meaningful way? Well, I’d like to Well, we had some runs there early in the year and uh you know, trying to recapture um a feeling we can get something consecutively going here, but uh that’s night in night out. Nobody’s laying down here. So it’s a uh you know the highs and the lows and handling going forward is part of a young team here trying to find its way and you know I feel that uh the response we’ve felt uh in situations comparable to how we feel right now going into the next game we’ve been pretty pretty effective but uh you know that’s we got to prove that. Are there any positives that you can draw from a game like this? It’s over. Move forward. a tough spot for Slava to come in and make his NHL debut, but what did you think about the way he handled the situation? Tough spot, you know, and I think that uh you know, he did what he had to do. Kind of a couple of funny bounces at the net as well. Made a couple big saves. Um you know, it was kind of an opportunity for him. Uh, you know, I think when we looked at our depth chart at the beginning of the year, I don’t know if we forecast them playing this early in the season and we got a chance to play and it’s a it’s a Zack of an accomplishment to get a NHL game. Um, but uh we’ll see going forward how he does, but I thought he was okay.

  1. You need to work on your volume Derek. I have full volume on youtube and it sounds like Joel is mumbling. I literally have to read the captions.

  2. Did he just say Utah played like a "desperate" team? Seven goals. Hungry? Yes. Wanting to win? Yes. Desperate? Bit of a reach. He shouldn't be minimizing the ass-beating he just took.

  3. all went against us… first no Victory broadcast, then the missed call on Kreider, which would be a 5vs3 for over a minute… then all the own goals plus the offside goal and empty-not-goal…
