It just somehow got EVEN BETTER…

It somehow got even better for the Minnesota Wild after they snapped Colorado’s record setting streak and the 10-0 win streak. Minnesota has continued to build off their momentum coming from their goalending from Carril Capri off and from so much more. We got to break down everything going on in Minnesota from Yesper Walstat to Philip Gustin to Caril Capriov and so much more. I’m getting so excited I can barely contain myself and Mark right now. The Minnesota Wild are one of, if not the top story in the entire NHL, and it’s thanks to a bunch of people, but Yesper Walstead is the first guy we got to talk about. Look, leave a like if you want what Yes Walstat to win the Vestna Trophy this year. Look, I know he hasn’t played that many games. We’ll get into that in a bit, but the stats speak for themselves, Mark, even getting some people in the sports radio community a little heated. I mean, get walled, loser. Absolutely. And they did get walled. He’s unbelievable. Yes, we’re Wal right now. Now you can see Russo, he celebrates like he’s won the Stanley Cup. He has not. Look, even Avalanche fans were coming to the defense of Minnesota Wild fans there, which is honestly, look, I think world peace can be possible if that could happen. Now, we just need to get the Dallas fans, the Chicago fans. You know what? No, I don’t really want that. Let’s Let’s just move on right now, Mark. But right now, Walstead, there’s so much we can talk about. Goals saved above expected in the last three weeks. He’s number one by a good margin. Sroen second, Ascarov third. Nice to see a couple rookies here. so much 70 and2 on the season 6 and0 in his last six 39 saves against Colorado mark the second highest total of his career Mark when you see Esper Walstep play the one thing for me is how calm he looks but the guy doesn’t shy away from big moments I mean he was stellar in the shootout what an incredible save there on Mar yeah we’re going to play this again sorry Colorado fans not really what are you seeing from him that is making this so unreal and honestly I think some of it has rubbed off on the team in front of him Minnesota’s playing more confident knowing they have him back there and even Gustoson being that other goalie like these two guys like you know when you have back stops like that you’re just in for a good time. I mean the first thing I want to look at the AHL numbers to the jump this year is insane. This is something that people are going to study for years on end. But I do agree. I think this is a goalender that the team can trust. They trust Gus in front or behind them as well. But I think seeing the rookie come in with this confidence showing that he can get them wins. Bringing up the record again Josh what is it? 70 and2 in his last nine. This is something we’re witnessing from an AHL or sorry from a rookie goalender that we have never really seen in quite some time. And I think as you said this is rubbing off the positive vibes are around this team. They have a wall. You can’t get a puck through a brick wall. And this is exactly what you have behind them at the moment. Seeing the numbers, seeing the way the team’s playing. Carl Capri is not being amazing. Of course, everyone’s stepping up. This is the most confident I’ve seen this Minnesota Wild team in quite some time, especially with a rough start for some players. I just love the atmosphere around this team, around the f fan base, with the standings, everything feels insane, and it starts with the goalenders, 100%. It’s incredible to see what good goalending can do for your team’s confidence. Now, this is being recorded, full transparency, before the game against Buffalo, but look, maybe you’re watching it before or after. And like I’m hoping that the momentum stays going after that game. But you can see Walstat now leading all three major goalending categories. We’re just showing save percentage here. But he did take the lead as you saw in this tweet in goals against average. He’s he’s the only goalie below a two now. And he leads the league in shutouts. Like insane stuff from him. So shout out to Yes for Wallstead. But like you mentioned Mark, right now with the standings and with the incredible performances from the goalies, Minnesota is climbing, right? Colorado has been incredible this season. Look, it took again a shootout to put them away, but it was Kil Capriovv and honestly so many different guys in this team chipping in in different ways that has helped Minnesota win seven in a row, win nine of their last 10. Now 90 and1 in their last 10, picking up 19 of a possible 20 points, gaining ground on Carolina who we’re now tied with along with Tampa Bay even though Minnesota’s played one more game. We’re like one win away. You beat Buffalo and you get some losses. You’re all of a sudden right up there back to third in the NHL, which coincidentally again is third in this division, but we got to look at the team and so many guys performing. Mark, we’ve talked about this in videos before. Carell Capriovv is definitely one guy to spotlight who scored two goals in that last game, but 30 points on the season in 25 games along with Baldi’s 28. The unbelievable resurgence of Marcus Johansson with 20 points in 25, Eric, and even Faber putting up 15 points in his last 16 games. I think the depth scoring is incredible, but when you are supported by a superstar like Capri off, we’ll see some of these goals again. It just makes it that much easier to continue this winning streak. And I think that’s the biggest thing. You have the elite talent. We’ve talked about Baldi Bunch. We know Capri off is going to go out in those big moments. We’ve seen the two goals last night going into the shootout. We see them win. This is a team that’s getting production on every level. Marcus Johansson is a guy a lot of fans were down on coming to the year having an incredible season for him on this cheap contract. We see what Capri off doing. We see what the rest of the team is doing from the back end from the goalending from the forge. Josh once again looking at the standings. This is the toughest and worst division to be in hockey. And one of the reasons is because you don’t want to play the Minnesota Wild in the playoffs. This is a team that is building something over and over again throughout this season with the scoring with how they’re playing in their last 10. You can see the L next to Colorado’s name. We love to see this on these standing shots. Once again, I think the production is not only coming from the star players cuz we know they’re going to show up every single night. We know the goalending has been there, but I love that everyone is chipping in in different ways. You have guys leading the league in hits on this team. Everything they’re doing just feels like it’s brewing towards a even special thing that they’re trying to accomplish this season. Yeah, that’s a nice little shout out to Yakov Trenan as well, which is like I mean the dude’s physical, but he’s playing his role very well this year. Like you said, leading the league in hits, but also he has never been afraid to step up for his teammates. And I think the sense of community around this team is becoming even better, right? It’s strengthened when you have a lot of guys that you know will be around for many years. Again, Capri off signing that massive contract, of course, but he’s going to be around for so long. Yeah, some guys are on smaller, shorter deals like Johansson against Zukarelloo approaching retirement, which always hurts me to say, but again, like we mentioned this in last video too, Mark, the fact that Minnesota’s doing this without a Marco Rossi in the lineup while being a little bit banged up is honestly incredible. And you know, you’re still getting some production too, like up and down the lineup like Z Boy and even with this fourth line, you got Nico Stern back and he’s so happy to be back playing hockey and he’s playing some decent hockey as well. I think it’s it’s the again the top end talent plus the depth. I mean, do you see a world where Minnesota could realistically take over one of these top two spots in the Central? Because I absolutely do. Looking at the way this team is playing right now, these games like they’re not flukes, right? Like sometimes, yeah, maybe other teams get chances, we, you know, we save them, whatever, but having goalending that is this legit, like there’s aren’t that many indications that they’re the goalies are going to completely fall off. like, yeah, they might fall down to earth a bit, but when you get that top end scoring, I think this kind of winning with everyone coming together is kind of sustainable. And honestly, I’d be surprised if this wasn’t a close race in the Central Division come the end of this season. And I think the big thing is, like you said, injuries, once this team starts to get healthier, when they start to go out, if they want to add more, we’ve seen them talked about going out to get another center for this team. This is a team where you’re having everyone produce. If you’re winning four games in a row, one to nothing, you can say, “Hey, our offense sucks and our goalenders are bailing us out.” But this is a team that’s producing offensively and having the goalenders. The defense is stepping up. Even if one of them takes a step back, we know Curl is going to continue producing on this level. Baldi has shown time over time that he is an elite goal scorer and superstar in this league. You have two goalenders. So, if one struggles, you have another elite one. It falls back on this elite depth and talent and goalenders, everything kind of lines up to the point even if one person takes a step back, this is a win by committee and not just one player. Yeah. And that’s why I say like things are just getting better because this is the version of the Wild that was in invis, right? Like if you were looking at a team like you envision this team to like okay if everything goes right Capri off is like the best player on the team. You got Baldi taking a step up. Faber gets back to the himself that we know we we’ve seen before. Buham becomes a nice power play quarterback and more and everything’s kind of working. Walstep becoming like he’s going to be fighting Gustiffson for that number one spot. Like it’s crazy. The dude has Vessa level stats in a smaller sample. Like everything that you really could have asked for is coming true almost. Again, you maybe want some little more production from your young guys, but the fact that Minnesota’s winning without absolutely everything working out is just another great sign. So, leave your thoughts on the Wild down below. That’ll do it for this episode. Hey, if you’re as hyped as we are, leave a like and subscribe to the channel. We got content like this coming every single day. I’m Josh Goss, my host Mark Pike. We’ll catch you in the next one.

The Minnesota Wild are cooking as of late snapping Colorado’s huge winning streak on the backs of Kirill Kaprizov and Jesper Wallstedt. Mark Pye and Josh Gosse break down all this and more on this episode of Hat Trick HQ.

  1. Sports are out of politics!!! The team that will become the Olympic champion in hockey in 2026 will not be considered a real champion, especially since NHL players will participate in this championship! Why? Because the team that became the champion of these Olympic Games is only capable of sucking a big bitter lollipop from the Russian national team! Why? Because even during the Cold War, the Russian national team played against Canada and the United States, both in the USSR in Moscow and in North America. Why won't the winning team be considered a true champion in 2026? Because Alexander Ovechkin is the best of the best, Evgeny Malkin is the best, Sergey Bobrovsky is the best, Andrey Vasilevsky is the best, Nikita Kucherov is the best, Kirill Kaprizov is the best and the most expensive, Mikhail Sergachev is the best, Artem Zub is the best, Kirill Marchenko is the best, Matvey Myachkov is the best, Arseniy Gritsuk is the best, Vasily Podkolzin is the best, Valery Nichushkin is the best, Nikita Zadorov is the best, Ilya Sorokin is the best, Artemy Panarin is the best, Vladimir Tarasenko is the best, Pavel Buchnevich is the best, Alexey Toropchenko is the best, Andrey Svechnikov is the best, Dmitry Voronkov is the best, Ivan Barbashev is the best, Igor Shesterkin is the best, Pavel Dorofeev is the best, Ivan Demidov is the best, and many other Russian hockey players, they all play in the NHL. And when the time comes and the player of the winning team says: I am the Olympic champion in hockey in 2026 and shows the gold medal, everyone will know that he has a big, bitter, Russian lollipop in his mouth. Russia will survive, and the winner will be forever in this Spanish shame. There will be no Russian NHL players at the Olympic Games in 2026, which means that whoever wins is not the real champion. Remember this!!! Sports are out of politics!!!
