Hey guys, August Young here at docsports.com. We are looking at NHL action for Thursday, December 4th. Colorado Avalanche crossconference clash. They’re going to take on the New York Islanders at UBS Arena. Puck drop 700 p.m. Eastern time the Thursday, December 4th. Colorado currently favored at 2:1us 200 on the money line. Islanders come back plus 170. total line at six, minus 120 to the over and plus 100 to the under. It’s a big number on Colorado. Uh and we’re going to find out if it’s worth it. Now, beginning with them, they are an absolute powerhouse, dominating as we know, 191 and six. They lead the league in scoring, 4.1 goals per game, stingiest in defense as well, allowing just two goals per game. They’ve won nine of their last 10, uh including a 3-1 takedown of Vancouver. Nathan McKinnon in that one notched two goals. Uh he is torturing the league this season. 22 goals, 24 assists. Um and Brock Nelson’s been hot too. Six goals, six assists in his last 10, bolstering their depth. Now the interesting thing about how Colorado have played is their power play is actually quite middle. Um it’s a pretty mid power play. Um but but ironically, their short-handed unit has been absolutely elite. Um they’ve currently outscored opponents on the season by 53. On the road they’re 81 and4. Uh no major injury issues for them. Um a few little guys but nothing nothing too serious. Now the Islanders 1410 and three. Uh scrapping currently for Metro positioning. Uh gone 54 and one in their last 10. Averaging not great a modest two goals but they have thankfully clamped down allowing just 1.8. Matthew Barzel leads with seven goals and 11 assists. their power play has really struggled 13.3% on the power play at home as well 66 and two and it’s hard to really judge his team right now we have to have some sympathy because they have injury concerns obviously um Alexander Romanov Pierre Enval um who else they with the knee issue um Valamov uh Carl Palary as well they’re just thinned all over the ice here. Now, um when we look at the series, the head-to-head, Colorado took the first meeting four to one on November 16th, continuing the edge. They won three of the last five head-to-head meetings. Now, as I mentioned that uh the ABS, you look at their offensive firepower, right? 106 goals league high overwhelms the IS um their sort of middling attack, which is a 77 goals ranking 21st with totals going under in four of New York’s last six when they’re D Titans. this um this could trend low here, but regardless of that, betting trends show Colorado are 170 and four when scoring three or more. Uh it’s got to be the focus here for the Islanders, of course. Now, how does this one go? I think bottom line for me, Colorado’s elite form and their depth should just I can’t get to the Islanders here. I think I think the AS are going to overwhelm. They’re just too banged up. Do I want to lay minus 200? Yes. Uh the free pick, guys. Sprinkle. Nothing too crazy. I just think there’s value even at that price. Give me Colorado minus 200 here. It’s such an elite team.
