12/3 PHI vs. BUF Postgame: Rick Tocchet
goals were right the net front. Are you seeing it become more second nature for them instead of them having to think about it? Yeah. Yeah, it’s getting better. I think uh you know it’s got to be habitual like it’s got to you have to do it all the time. But that’s uh you know something we’ve really preached getting inside you know you know we piston offense we call it but once once once some somebody pistons out we got to get people in net and I think we’re getting better at we’re delivering pucks. I don’t know. We’re getting more shots from the middle, which we’ve talked about, instead of passing to the flanks all the time. I think it’s important that we deliver those pucks from the middle of the ice. Rick, on the um golden challenge, obviously that one Yeah. counts. They’re back with him, too. You talked a little bit about the the work your video guys did because they obviously put that out. Yeah. Dylan Crawford, I brought him over from Vancouver for this. One of the reasons this he’s really good uh when it comes to that like he studies he talks to the NHL so he’s got a good feel so I I trust him like anytime he says whatever I’ll do whatever you know whatever he says um and obviously Vinnie other guys helping him in there so yeah they’re they’re uh they’re up to it. They do a lot of work. I I don’t do anything on that. Those guys do all that stuff. Rick, we uh we talked a little bit this morning about the uh the power play unit that you put together. They scored two goals tonight. I would assume that they did exactly what you wanted them to do in terms of producing while also not giving up things the other way. Yeah. Yeah. I I you know, we we had some looks at up top, you know, obviously he’s got a few blocked, so we might have to change some angles there, but at least we’re shooting the puck. You know, if it hits a shaft or something, I can live with it. But we’re getting more shots from the middle, which is uh and then obviously when you shoot the puck, you know, Trevor, it was a lucky, you know, whether it’s lucky or not, but we’re delivering pucks. I think he was trying to go back door to somebody. But things like that, you’re delivering pucks maybe, you know, I’d like to see a little bit more movement earlier on the power play, but you know, being picky, but um yeah, it’s it’s it was good for us tonight. I know you had I know you had that stretch in the second period where, you know, you were hemmed in a little bit, but you know, other than that, did you like the way the team responded tonight? You know, you get down one or two, Owen comes back and scores right away. Yeah, I you know honestly two points um you know after last game. So really happy about that. I still think we run around too much when the pressure we we we have to you know there’s certain things that we got to clean up the running around and um I don’t know if that’s bad habits from before. It’s just there’s chunks that we just got to got to communicate more. You know we’re really diligent without the puck and I think sometimes in our own end we get a little bit and it’s not the D or the four. It’s it’s a combination of everybody. It’s not just one person or one group. It’s a collective and we got to clean it up. And you know, struggling separate offensively. You put them back together tonight. I’m sure you’re hoping the chemistry is going to be back there. Did you kind of see like just them being reunited kind of sparked both of them a little bit? Yeah, a little bit. Yeah, for sure. I, you know, they got, you know, Bobby getting the goal, KT, I thought it was strong, you know, like to see, you know, I wish he scored that power play to loosen them up, you know, but he’s he’s done a nice job. Yeah, those two guys have been playing together for a year now. So, I felt it was, you know, Tyson went out, put him back and see if they get reenite the uh the chemistry. Good. Good. I thought he had some jump. You know, he uh you know, it’s a it’s a tough game because, you know, was it five you have five power plays? It’s, you know, there’s a lot of specialy teams time. So, you know, um you know, you still got about 10 or 11 minutes. He probably had a little bit more if there’s no pen that the penalties kill those type of guys. But it uh but what I like about it is that he sat, you know, for three for four. He went out there and he’s spinning his legs. That that’s hard to do. So I give him a lot of credit for that. You talk this morning this morning about the penalty kill and that first goal by the Sabres. They did kind of fall into that box that you said you didn’t want to see. Do you did you see the team respond though because I think Buffalo only went one six the rest of the way. Yeah, it was better. Um, you know, not as many shots in the middle of the ice. I think we adjusted on that. Um, but it was better obviously. You know, when they score the first goal, um, we weren’t really deflated. I mean, you know, they scored Pittsburgh three, another one all of a sudden four power play goals. You know, you you could you could crack. They didn’t. So, I got to give them a lot of credit for that. You talked uh this morning about how the team couldn’t be what was made with Forers injury. Did Did you get a sense that the locker room was pretty uh in a pretty good spot that they wanted to respond? Yeah, 100%. You know, next man up type of thing. You know, Ty is in there with the guys high-fiving and stuff like that. And um you know, guys feel bad for him. You know, it’s going to be a couple whatever, you know, some weeks, two months, whatever it’s going to be. So, um you know, we have some guys that like we talked about, can we play 5% better, you know, to help help the loss of having a guy like that. Thanks,

If the Flyers can get to the Olympic break in the middle of the playoff race, they will in all likelihood add both Foerster and Martone down the home stretch. That is two huge boosts that donβt cost them a dime.

Danny b. Should go after Quinn Hughes to help bolster the defense.
