The Knicks Have a GOLDEN OPPORTUNITY…

After the New York Knicks sustained a serious injury that is going to force changes upon the team, the Knicks now have a golden opportunity to go out and make a huge move that is going to be so helpful for them down the line. As we know, Leon Rose is going to be forced into looking at some changes for this Knicks team now with an injury to one of their most important players throughout this season thus far. And we are going to go over all of this, how likely these changes are that are coming and also why the Knicks have a golden opportunity to make a move that is going to make them a better team. But we before we jump into all that, just want to quickly go over that if you’re part of that 56% that’s not subscribed to Nicks Digest, make sure to subscribe so you don’t miss a single New York Knicks update. We have videos coming out every single day on everything New York Knicks and you don’t want to miss out on it. So, if you want to show everyone that you know ball, at least regarding the Knicks, this is the place to be. But let’s jump into the video, guys. There is a lot to go over right now on the team because look, with the Knicks, with everything that’s going on right now, we know that they’ve been dealing with a couple injuries and stuff like that, like Ojanobi for instance, but none as serious as Landry Sham. Shamut went down with a shoulder injury that they’re calling a sprain right now, but many do fear that his shoulder did pop out of place, the same right shoulder that he did injure a year ago and caused him to miss a couple months on the season. Now, on top of that with Shabet, if he does ultimately opt for surgery, his season’s over. And if he doesn’t, and this is just a shoulder sprain that he’ll miss a month for, the Knicks, they’ll take a second thought before cutting him from the team. But because he’s on a non-g guaranteed contract until January, the Knicks can cut him and sign someone else with the money they used to sign Sham. So, they would be able to add another player to the roster if they were to cut him from the team. The Knicks did this partially if Shamut didn’t work out or if an injury were to happen. Well, an injury’s happened. So, now with this in mind, the Knicks do have to go make a change on a lot of things just based off everything. And they have a golden opportunity to make a move for this guy right here. Now, real quick regarding Shamut, he was excellent for the Knicks this season. He was one of the premier shooters this year putting up 42% from three while also make putting up around nine points per game, two rebounds, one and a half assists. He was having a good season, no doubt about it. But when we look at everything surrounding this team and just the Knicks overall, it is difficult to sort of navigate what you do without him. Now, Ian Begley did say that there is optimism that Shamid can rehab the shoulder injury and avoid surgery. Shamid has a right shoulder sprain and is currently rehabbing. All things considered, it seems to be good news for the Knicks that Shamid avoided a more severe shoulder injury. So, obviously, that’s good to hear, but at the same time, it would not be shocking to see the Knicks ultimately decide to go in another direction. And if they do, just based off the fact that Shamid is dealing with what they’re calling a sprain, but still there has been some concern about it. And also the way that he’s been awesome as a starter, putting up nine points, two and a half rebounds, shooting excellently all over the court. He is hard to replace. However, there are people to replace him. When you look in the free agents of shooting guards specifically, you see a lot of good names. I mean, Lonnie Walker was a talented player between Philly, the Lakers. He was solid. Damen Lee has been a good shooter throughout his career. Alec Burks is a longtime Nick that we will discuss for a minute later on in the video. And then also the top one is Malik Beasley. Basley, who broke out last season putting up an excellent statline, almost won six man of the year and was one of the best shooters in the NBA. The man averaged 16 points, two and a half rebounds, and 1.7 assists. In that time, he also shot 41.6% from three. He shot 50% on the corner three and overall was just absolutely excellent for the Detroit Pistons. Arguably the team’s best play, second best player last year. The man was so so so important. and appeared in all 82 games and has been a staple for any team that needs an elite shooter. Beasley has been there, but last season with the Pistons was his breakout year. He really just showed up onto the scenes and was nothing short of phenomenal with them. On top of that, they can also look towards Alec Burks as well as another option here. Burks not as good, but we know Leon Rose has brought in Alec Burks more than once here. He does become someone who the Knicks could also take a look at. He appeared in 49 games with the Miami Heat last season and did shoot 42.5% from three. I know the defense is pretty poor and that outside of shooting and a bit of shot creation, Alec Burks isn’t the strongest player, but he would be a rotational piece for the Knicks who would definitely be able to do a lot of great work spotting up for the team and playing a similar role to Landry Shamat as a spot-up shooter who really is just there to give a spark to the team. We know that Leon Rose does have an affinity for Alec Burks. We’ve seen it before. I mean, we’ve seen Leon Rose now acquire Alec Burks twice. Once signing him in free agency and the other time making a trade for Burks and Buon Bdonovich where the Knicks would ultimately be giving up Quinton Grimes and on top of that Evan Fornier. It was a deal that made sense at the time for the Knicks. Ultimately did an age great eh I mean Bdonovich did help the Knicks ultimately get male Bridges who in the last eight games has 25 steals and 12 blocks. So he’s breaking out on the scenes now that he’s a coach that works for him. So, there is a lot to consider, especially when you look at Burks specifically, who does hook the more realistic target and put up 18 points, four rebounds, and 1.2 assists in the five games that he really appeared in for the playoffs in 2024 with the Knicks. The man was excellent. He had two 20point games, and overall was just a staple of good shooting, shooting 43% from behind the arc and 51% from the field. He was super efficient, gave the Knicks shot creation, and gave him a three-point shooter for a very injured Knicks team. So, when you look at Burks, he is someone who I really do like the idea of the Knicks going after as well, but I would way, way, way rather it be Malik Beasley for a few different reasons here. Now, one, when we look at Beasley, something that we’ve heard time and time again is that if he comes back to the NBA after this whole gambling debacle thing, he wants to go back to the Detroit Pistons. He’s said that time and time again. He’s talked about the Pistons a lot this year. He’s hyped them up. He wants to be where he had his most success. However, the Pistons, who are great right now, there’s kind of an issue there. Where does Beasley fit in now? Where does he play? What do you do with Malik Beasley? I mean, you just got Duncan Robinson to a pretty big deal. Are you just going to bench him instantly for Beasley? Outside of that, there’s not that much space for Beasley on the Pistons anymore. It’s hard for him to find a realistic pathway towards minutes. Meanwhile, the Knicks, they lost the guy who started games in Landry Sham. I know Beasley talked a lot of trash about the Knicks when they were facing off in the playoffs, but that’s because they were facing off in the playoffs. If the Knicks are the team giving Beasley the best opportunity to win and try to get his value back and make some money, then it makes sense to go for him. I want to see the Knicks go strong for Malik Beasley. if this is really it for Landry Shamat because not only is Beasley a better player than Landry Shamat but also again you get a guy who knows the intricacies of the number one seed in the NBA’s Eastern Conference right now which is going to be helpful come playoff time. I mean look I do think the Knicks are going to get rolling in the second half of the year and become a top two seed. So I’m not really concerned about that. But adding an elite shooter like Malik Beasley who led the league in three-pointers made last season. He really really did become The reason I looked away is I was trying to remember if I was right or if it was Anthony Edwards. I know they were one apart from each other. I’m like 99% sure it was Malik Beasley, but I’m really not It was Beasley. I’m going to say it was Beasley, but now I’m going to get a bunch of comments that it was Anthony Edwards and that I’m an idiot who should never be on YouTube again. But uh not the point. The point is when you look at Malik Beasley, he’s a super talented player, elite shooter, and fits the Knicks right now. They would need a wing. They would need a shooter who could play either at that two or that three spot and just be that spot-up shooter who’s willing to move in transition and also can handle the ball a little bit while being a ferocious type of guy who’s ready to hype his team up at all costs. He fits this team perfectly. I think the Knicks have a golden opportunity to sign him here. And honestly, having a backup option of Alec Burks is not bad either. Now, this all predicates on how Landry Shamid is going to recover from this injury. If Shamid ultimately recovers well, then that makes sense to just keep him around. But guys, what do you think? 1. If we could sign Malik Beasley that would be a game changer for us .. we could run a true 5 out system Brunson Malik bridges OG and KAT.. run teams off the floor and shoot 40-50 threes a night

  2. Your assessment of Shamet's value is WAY out of proportion to reality. Let's all take a breath. "He's hard to replace" What? 10 pts. a game is hard to replace? Gimme a break.. IMO Deuce is more valuable.

  3. When will we ever get it the man said he wants to go back to pistons that’s that! Why keep trying to sell this nonsense you would have chance to win a ring here players are clearly not interested in what we selling

  4. We have Duece and Clarkson at the 2 spot. Even Bridges can play that position. What we need is a veteran PG that can play defense and control the offense with the bench. Kolek can move the ball against bad teams and is serviceable on defense against bad teams. The issue is against the good teams is where he has problems. I think a vet PG would make more sense. Continue to start Duece and let Mitch come off the bench. Unless we are playing a bigger team. I think Beasley can help but if he is signed someones minutes get eaten up. Clarkson, Duece or Harts minutes would be extinguished. I think the coach has finally seen that the 2 big lineup doesnt work. We do not guard the pick and roll well enough. Guys keep letting their man beat them and we are too slow on close outs. All that equals to one of the worst teams guarding the 3 point line. Duece at the 2 also works better because he is not a PG.

  5. INjuries are a part of the game. But the fact that so many Knicks fans have wanted trades to be made before these injures it tells you Rose put together a flaud team.As good as Briges is playing he's still not worth the 5 first round picks they gave up for him

  6. Come on. soon as a guy gets injured you are already thinking about replacement? this guy has worked hard to be here an this is the first thing you can think about as a knicks fan. this is disgraceful..there more players on this bench who can be replaced.

  7. You are missing a very important factor in this shamet situation. While a non-guaranteed player is injured, an nba team is obligated to pay a player until his rehabilitation is completed. Meaning the Knicks won’t be allowed to cut shamet until he is fully recovered. If shamet is recovered from his shoulder injury, we need to keep him.

  8. Feels like bad mojo to bring in with the gambling issues but on the other hand he’ll probably be on his very best behavior and be desperate to play great so he can stay in the league.
