CINCINNATI REDS, GO GET KYLE SCHWARBER! | REDS MLB OFFSEASON TALK!

Hey, thanks for clicking on the video. Make sure you like, comment, subscribe. Now, let’s get on to the content. Hey guys, so I know I haven’t made a Red’s video in a while. Um, this is my offseason discussion. I wanted to talk a little bit about it. There’s one target I want to hit on particularly, and it’s in the title, guys. Kyle Schwarber. And obviously, we know that we’re in the mix for him. And what a dream it would be, man. For a kid from Middletown, a guy who grew up going into the games. I want to get right into it. Our main need, and this is obvious, we need a power back bat. That plain and simple, the offense was way too inconsistent last year. I mean, the pitching was stellar for most of the year, I want to say. I’m not going to say they were perfect either. I mean, they were some points where the offense was good. It was just it just it just wasn’t consistent enough. And the pitching when the offense was good, there were times where the pitching was also bad and the bullpen would also collapse. So there’s a lot of situations you can point to both sides, but for the most part, man, a lot of it falls in, especially like in the playoffs and even the Pirates series, if you go back to that last series, like those were examples of the offense just not being able to catch up. I know they faced skins in one game and then they forced extra innings and whatnot, but like there was just so many big games where the offense would just go cold. I mean, I can nitpick. There’s 162 regular season games. If you want me to nitpick one, let’s go the Mets game, the first game of that series. I know we took the next two, but bases loaded, no outs, you’re down 54 in game one and when you’re I think five games back and then you drop to six games back at the time. So there’s so many different situations you can point to and be like, “Okay, the offense just was not good.” So there was too many lowscoring games. Obviously, one-run decisions has been a really, really bad problem for the Reds over the last handful of years. And we just sometimes for the most part just don’t come out ahead in those matchups. So offense just needs a power bat. And again, like I said, the main solution for that would be this guy. I mean, 56 home runs, 132 RBI, a stellar 2025. He’s a free agent. What a freaking story this would be for a guy from Middletown who grew up torturing the Cincinnati Reds with the Chicago Cubs. I mean, this guy, I still remember his rookie year. I think this was like his second week in the big leagues or whatever it was. But like this guy hit a game tying and game-winning home run in the same game. I still remember that game as a kid. I remember watching that basically his coming out like to the MLB and welcome to the MLB in the sense like he was just torturing and toying with the Cincinnati Reds pretty much all those years where they were bad. I mean, he was a big part of what uh the Cubs had going on and he basically took it too. I mean, we owned the Cubs from 2014 to until 2014 really. And then Kyle Scherber started coming on the scene 2015. And not to say Kyle Schrober was the only reason why, but from 2014 to 2018, they I mean they straight up owned us like they they owned us. And you know, he was a obviously the main one of the main catalyst of that. I mean, I’ll give credit to Rizz O’Brien all them, but Josh was one of those dudes, man. So, you know, from a kid for a kid for Middletown, like, oh my god, I I I don’t want to harp too much on it cuz I just said it like 10 times, but man, I I just can’t tell you how exciting it would be. And and not to mention like the fans really want it, man. So, if you want to get the fans excited, give them some hope and some like just even if it’s not the move that’s oh that’s going to take us to the penant and whatnot, like it gives the fans some excitement. Why not, right? Why not? And you know, he’s made some several quotes over the years. I mean, we call this place home. I grew up going to Reds schemes. I’m just paraphrasing what he said, but the kid in me would be excited. He’s literally like telling you, sign me. And you know, he’s keeping his options open. I know that I read a report today that the Phillies and him are not in on or even close on a deal. So, could this mean he potentially and the Reds are considered in the mix? I I read an article on that as well. So, like that that’s exciting to hear as a fan because I want to get I don’t want to get my hopes too high because then if we don’t sign him, it’s I’m going to get crushed. And I I don’t like the feeling that I have about it, but I would love that we sign like oh my god. I would just love it, dude. Love the signing. I would love it. But I’m excited. I want to see what the Reds, you know, first of all, they offer him and I hope that he comes, man. I mean, I mentioned this earlier, like he has a hometown connection and and I think this goes back to Nick Crawl, as I said, like he wants the Reds as an option. He has the hometown connection. The Reds have a DH spot that they could really use. Why? Why not? Why Why not? He had a subpar postseason. Is if that’s what you’re going off of, that’s not a it’s not a good reason. I mean, the city of Cincinnati would love I think they’ve spoken. They want Kyle Schwarber. So, at least give an effort to go out there and get him. And I’m not saying that’s the only plan they have. I’m going to dive into some of the backup plans they should have. But if he’s willing to take a hometown discount, I mean, he’s probably going to get a hundred million plus contract and whatnot. Like if he’s if he wants to come to Cincinnati, he will take that hometown discount. You can book it as long as the Reds offer is of course within the range. But to hear that he and the Phillies are not even close on aligning on a deal, that’s a good sign for potentially the Reds to swoop in and be like, “Hey man, we want you to come back to Ohio. We want you to come down to Southwest Ohio. Like what what a dream and I would absolutely love it if he has a great year here. I mean, I would get his jersey in an instant. I mean, Kyle Schwarber is a guy even with the Cubs, man. I always like Kyle Schwarber. He was fun to watch. He was uh he was a good player. He was, you know, good guy to have in the clubhouse for them obviously. Like I I I just I I mean I would just love it. I’m hoping that we sign him and and I know that the Reds are definitely they have a chance so that’s a good sign and you know just I don’t want this to become a situation and I’m the reason I brought up Nick Crawl here is because I just don’t want this to become a situation like we look at the postseason last year and us making it as the worst thing to ever happen to this franchise. I mean, we’ve been saying that about the, for example, we we said that about the Bengals a little bit. Like when the Bengals, like obviously we look at the season they’ve had, they’ve not had a great year. Like we said going to the Super Bowl, a lot of us are saying like going to the Super Bowl in 2021 was the worst thing that happened to us because it gave Zack Taylor some some uh some leeway, some comfort being the head coach. Same thing applies for the Reds. hope that this postseason in, you know, because let’s let’s because let’s face it, guys, we got in because the Mets choked. It is what it is. I’m not saying that we didn’t deserve it. I mean, we got we won nine of the last 13 to end the season, but the Mets collapse was just a big reason why. So, I’m hoping that they don’t say, “Oh, yeah, we made the playoffs. We’re good.” No, man. And if that doesn’t work out, man, here’s what we got to do. I’m not saying we’re going to get these dudes because I really don’t think we have a chance. My options personally would be Pete Alonzo. I’m a big fan of Pete Alonzo. Uh I I wasn’t really too I I here I’ve been critical of him. I mean I know he takes the home run derby serious and all. That’s what I’ve you know kind of noticed with him but I always really liked him. I mean he hit that game go ahead home run against the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL wild card. That one was that was about 10 minutes before we signed Tito as well as our new manager. So that was like a good 10 15 minute stretch of baseball. Got to see Pete Alonzo kill the Brewers and then Terry Francona get hired by the Reds. That’s pretty cool. But you know, again, I don’t see that happening. I really don’t. Ryan O’Harn would be a great option for us. I would love a cheap bat on this team. Now, would the Padres’s do that? They’re probably going to go on and back. I’m going to keep it real with you. I’m going to keep it buck with y’all. But anything that we trade for, I hope that it’s for power bats. You know, we seem very, very high. I read something that we seem very, very high on KBrian Hayes as well. If we’re not going to trade him because we value his defense, because his defense, let’s face it, is is second to none. But he’s the greatest third baseman, defensive third baseman in in baseball. If we value the main struggle we had, we’re going to go after a bat, a power bat. It needs to be an outfield. Maybe it could be an outfielder. could be a first baseman because our defense, you know, better last year than 2024, but man, there were still so many air. I mean, Ellie, I hate to say it, but he led the league in. So, maybe you think about converting Ellie somewhere else and then you put someone like I don’t know, there’s so many options you can go. I’m just hoping and I said this like in the previous Reds video. I don’t think I made a Reds video since probably the the wild card series, but I think I’ve mentioned them on a couple occasions. I think they were part of the video. I think I talked about the Bengals and Reds who gets a title first in that video. I talked about how there’s many different directions that the Reds can go this off seasonason. I’m just hoping whatever they do, they have a plan. They have a direction because over the last few years, I got to f I got to be honest with you, it just doesn’t seem like we’ve had a plan. It doesn’t seem like we figured it out. It doesn’t seem that we’ve, you know, used the leverage that we have in terms of like the money we have and everything. And not to say that the Reds don’t spend, but they c they have the capability to be conservative. And sometimes the money that they do spend, let’s face it, it’s just bad. It’s bad money. I don’t want to kill them right now, but I just want to say like this is an important offseason for the Reds. And again, they must stretch the payroll. I know Nick Crawl said, “Oh, we’re probably going to keep the payroll the same.” They got to stretch the payroll for it to work. And it would be a great dream. I would love it. Wanted to talk about that. Give my full thoughts. You guys have a good one. Let’s go Reds. Let’s get Kyle Schwarber. Hey, you watched the whole video. Thanks for that. Like, comment, subscribe. 1. Similar rumors surfaced late last season about a Eugenio Suarez trade for a Playoffs run. Instead, Reds traded for Ke’Bryan Hayes. The popular Suarez still could be an option, but either way, Suarez or Schwarber would need a willing bride. Was all this Schwarber talk generated by a single rumor report? Where did it start? Do I smell cheese and a rat? Consider me supportive of the Reds getting a great power bat, but I’ll only believe it when I see it. So far, their power prospects sure aren’t working out. And is that a scouting or a hitting coach problem?
